Second link is actual physical copy of tekken 3 for dreamcast

I’m also afraid you are wrong about Tekken 4. As it was released in North America on September 23, 2002 on ps2 . So my original point stands . You may want to fact check yourself before you try to correct someone who has owned and played all of these games their whole life. I can post a link for that one as well if you’d like .

Those would be fake my friend .

If you say its fake then whatever I am not going to do anymore research it is what it is and on the tekken site it says it was released in 2001. Regardless of all that Tekken was still once multiplat even if it was exclusive at first. To go exclusive, multiplat, exclusive is dumb just ask Capcom with SFV.

You win though doesn’t matter to me when anything was released.

Well like I said , it wouldn’t really bother me because to me and most of the people I know , Tekken has always been more synonymous with PlayStation and each new PlayStation that came out , we knew we were going to get an awesome new Tekken. But since it has already been multiplat for two games, I agree it would be weird for it to go back to being exclusive now.

Agreed!

I own a Dreamcast (still have it) and I followed it through its short life, and no Tekken game ever came out on it. Tekken 3 was a PS1 game, and Dreamcast was a next generation console, along with PS2. However, it is not unlikely that someone ported Tekken 3 onto the Dreamcast, but it would be bootleg. It was never officially released to Dreamcast by Namco.

Tekken 3 was only released on PS1, and later ported to PS2.

Yeah it was emulated not a traditional release.

Hm. I’d say in general DOA is just a much faster, more dynamic game than Tekken is. I’d also personally put the animation (actual movement, not boob physics) almost in a league of its own - DOA has always been an incredibly fluid game, and the hits have an insane amount of impact. It’s a fast and interesting game to watch, and the hold system adds a cool dimension of risk/reward that can make individual rounds very exciting. For my money, I’d much rather watch a DOA tournament than a Tekken one - Tekken’s more sedate pace tends to bore me.

That said, DOA loses me (and a lot of other people) over its ridiculous over-sexualization of all of its female characters. It took a ubiquitous trope (hot female fighter) and built an entire marketing scheme and business model around it. Which is fine to make money I guess, but did itself no favors in promoting itself to people who aren’t particularly moved or impressed by virtual titillation. The game doesn’t take itself seriously as a fighter, and partly as an outgrowth of that no one else does either. Which is a shame I think, because under all the jiggle physics and ā€œSoft Engineā€ and various fetish outfits is actually a pretty deep and interesting fighting game.

I guess again I stand corrected.

Although I have played both Tekken still strikes me as the deeper fighter and never really noticed the change in speed as I saw Tekken isn’t as fast because you are not mashing the whole time (not fact just what I thought) I guess my never really taking DOA seriously and actually taking a second look at the core gameplay made me think otherwise. I see your and others points and I can’t help but see the validity of them so maybe I will give DOA another open minded look just for the sake of actually having a better informed opinion.

Learn something new everyday.

DOA5 is a good game, gameplay-wise. I don’t care for the boob physics and all that, so that aside, DOA5 is fun and enjoyable, it’s competitive (there are tournaments with DOA5) and offers alot of techniques that other 3D fighters don’t, such as the stage interactions, the parry feature, and fast-paced action! Most 3D fighters, such as Tekken and Virtua Fighter, are rather slow in comparison.

Sadly, when people think DOA, all they look at is the boob physics and then they dismiss everything else the game has to offer, and that’s a shame, considering the game has ALOT to offer gameplay-wise.

Edit: Just noticed we can’t write boob in plural form. XD

Well in defense the game literally throws ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  at you from all angles! LOL

DOA has merits as a fun fighting game with easy to pick up controls, an easy reversal system and lightning fast gameplay. I enjoy the quick combos that can launch an enemy either in to orbit or across the arena, the mid-air juggling, mid-air throws, combo throws, ground throws, wall-splat mechanics etc. It’s a fun game.

That said, all the bathing suit, fetish outfit, panty shots, camera control, and full grown women who have voices like 13 year olds… All that stuff is silly and, for me, adds zero to the game other than a slight sense of embarrassment that a fighting game this well done has to have that ridiculous stuff thrown in for no reason beyond some people enjoying it. If that’s you, then more power to ya, I guess.

As for Tekken, for me, it’s a slower, more methodical game where characters move a bit more deliberately, have more fleshed out fighting styles, more unique stances, and the moves feel like they hit harder, even if they don’t launch opponents super far (most of the time). I still think Virtua Fighter is the most complex 3D fighter out there, so Tekken is probably the bridge between VF and DOA (in my eyes).

I feel like the learning curve in Tekken is a bit steeper than DOA and the moves and combos can be much more complex at times. Not every character has a counter as well, but the ones that do seemingly have a tighter window, though that could be my imagination.

I’ve loved Tekken since the first one, but I have to admit that the last few have been a little less interesting to me. With the exceptions of Dragunov and Zafina, who are my two favorite additions to come along in forever, most of the newer character designs, like Lars, Lily, Asuka, Bob, Leo, Feng, Miguel, etc haven’t really felt that distinct or enjoyable to me. The Tekken 7 newcomers don’t seem that interesting to me either.

It’s nice that they’re clearing out a lot of the near duplicate characters from past games like Kunimitsu, Anna Williams, Armor King, etc, but I’m at the point now where while I still like Tekken, I wouldn’t be angry for my own loss in particular if it turned out to be PS4 exclusive.

However, I’d be more angry for the system’s loss of yet another fighting game. Phil said that he’d ā€œmake it up to usā€ when Xbox lost Street Fighter and as far as I can tell, there’s been no new Xbox exclusive fighting games beyond KI to make up for that loss.

I had no intention to buy a ps4. But with KOF14 shaping up nicely, and now Tekken (maybe), I am getting second thoughts. (off topic: I am also a racing game fan so I would never leave my XB1. Go Forza!)

I expected this, and I honestly am not hurt by it. I game up on Tekken after TTT…I only bothered picking up TTT2 because of Coop and Alex and Ogre were in it.

Tekken’s gameplay just got dull after awhile and honestly they have little variety in fighter selection nowadays.

I have a PS4 anyway but I think the only Fighting game I might get is KOFs on that platform

I’m more interested in KOF & guilty gear revelator

I may get it on sale in psPlus one day
I was always turned off by the hunched over and old man punch mechanics with no projectiles (KI spoiled lol)

Looks great graphics wise tho

I have a PS4 so this doesn’t really affect me BUT I still think they should try to make it for XB players too. Maybe they have a reason for it idk, but it really sucks when you see a game you really want but can’t play it because you bought the other console.

xbox1 is not a console for people who play fighting games, aside ki.
how can you expect fans of the genre to pick it up, when the situation is this.
did they really think ki with six characters and 500 bucks, was gonna make people jump in? LMAO

People play more than just fighting games. Regardless all the last gens popular fighting games were on xbox.

SF4, 3rd strike SxT, MvC3, MK9, TTT2, Blazblue etc.(not to mention if the two most famous, SF4 abd MvC3 both were played exclusively on 360 during tournaments).

The only FGs we are missing is true anime FGs like GG and games like Smash and Pokken which are only on the Wii/U anyways.

The only thing we have missed out on is SFV and maybe Tekken 7 which might not be the case seeing how SFV is doing.

So while you are entitled to your opinion I respectfully disagree.

EDIT: just looked at your profile and noticed you joined 17 hours ago and have done nothing but bash KI and Micrsoft and praise PS4… dang I been trolled.

Well, people can pick up Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for $5 on 360 right now and play it on X1.

I actually bought a second Xbox one just to use in my arcade setup and it has quite a few fighters if you include backward compatible games. MKX, KI, BlazBlue, Skullgirls, Soulcalibur, TT2. If you add both retro KI games it’s a pretty legit fighting game console from my point of view. I have GG Xrd and SFV on my PC and haven’t felt any urge to get a PS4.
