Don’t know if that would work.
It may prove incredibly difficult, sure, but it’s all programming, which means it’s probably possible. The only real limitations here come from resources, such as time and money. Is it worth putting in the effort to implement something like that? Sadly, the answer is likely going to be no, it’s not. As I said, it’s a win-win for us, but that doesn’t mean the same applies to the devs and publishers.
adults have many games that can fill your desires. There is already a limited amount of games now and days that are not M rated and some of those don’t even deserves the M rating. Game were made for children first and adults second. Stop trying to take that away games are for everyone. Let’s games be games not a place for your sexual imagination run wild.
I’m old enough to realize that there are enough games out there for everyone, adults and children alike. It’s only a matter of knowing where to look.
I’m not really vested in this argument anyways, for either side, since the way things are now is perfectly fine, IMO. I have made my voice heard, on both sides of the fence, and am done here if you’re going to start making assumptions and accusations towards me.
This is true. I try to avoid M-Rated games if I can so this KI being rated T is really good for me.
Once again, missing the point. This isn’t about parents crying censorship. It’s about a handful of KI players with kids suggesting we don’t need to add issues where there are none. Whether you deal with a-hole parents as a teacher or not doesn’t really apply here, because as far as I know you are not the teacher of any of our kids, and we don’t bring the issues your so-called underprivileged low-income families and drop them off at your doorstep. So the comparison is completely unwarranted.
Yes as a teacher you may have some insight, but there is a difference in the influence a teacher brings vs a parent. If you make a bad judgement call and/or give bad advice to a parent, you don’t have to live with it after your term with those kids…for the most part. Kids are, to an extent, disposable to you, whereas with parents, we have to deal with the results of their upbringing for the rest of our lives.
But in comparison, between my 3 kids there have been no less than 20 teachers, some of which like you, who all have their own opinions all telling us how best to deal with any given situation, and believe me, having a son with ADHD/ Asperger’s syndrome (even though technically that’s not a recognized label anymore…they’re all under the autism spectrum now) we’ve had words with teachers. lots of words, doling out useless advice on how to raise our kids, so you’ll forgive me if I dismiss the validity of your opinion as quickly as you are dismissing the parents’ opinions here.
But hey, teachers, right? They know how to do it (for the most part) and they mostly ignore the suggestions from others that come their way. It’s just the way things are…
But the issue here is not parents crying censorship. It’s KI players wanting to continue to play KI (keep this part in mind (PLAYERS WANTING TO PLAY KI) without having to turn it into yet another morality dilemma.
…no, that’s not the same thing at all. a blood toggle would be simply removing an effect that already exists, making the game more accessible for those that would prefer to be without it.
You’re talking about asking them to purposefully create new content which costs both money for the devs and the consumers, not to mention potentially throwing the game into a different rating bracket that may potentially hurt sales, and then requesting a toggle to make all the risk & hassle for not. That’s the same type of “kind of like” hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is to water (H2O).
All I want is a scuba full bodysuit like black widow for Orchid.
It’s so much more fitting than butt floss or swimsuits.
How about this with a sleek ponytail. I don’t want to see her butt I want to kick demon a zz and ultra all opponents in style
I think the best solution to this problem would just to allow mod support for the game. That way, anyone who wants alternate outfits can have them, while others who don’t indulge only see the default character model. Everyone wins.
BINGO!!!
I was trying to stay away from continuing this discussion but you baited me pretty hard here and definitely feel the need to defend myself on the matter.
First off your responses to this discussion give off a pretty demeaning tone, whether intentional or not you seem to be forgetting that everyone has a voice here and just because you have kids you seem to think you control the outcomes of the games content.
Riptor isn’t at a ballet concert either but they put her in a tutu. They just wanted to have fun with the character; the same to be said about the players who suggest things to be added to the game. Putting a female character in a dress or bikini is no different.
If you’re accusing a heterosexual male of being guilty for enjoying beautiful woman real or digital then yeah myself and millions of others on this planet are guilty for sure. The flaw in your argument is that you assume people only want these things added into the game for visual pleasure…believe me when I say that I don’t need to rely on digital butt. What about homosexuals or transgender people who also enjoy looking at men? Is Ryu being oversexualized because he has an outfit without a shirt on?
Well I not trying to be a stickler here but the retail version of the Killer Instinct Season 3 definitive edition is Rated M right on the box. Nonetheless that point is irrelevant because rated T games really have almost no limits to what you can do. You can even have partial nudity in rated T games if you want.
This is odd to me because Killer Instinct is just as violent/sexual if not more than MKX. KI has people getting impaled, being thrown into giant buildings, blood gushing out every time a character is hit, being possessed and disfigured by ghosts and so on. Even in MKX there is not a single sexual outfit in the game for the females (as far I as know). Fatalities in MKX aren’t even really used that much anymore and are completely optional at that. I’m glad you have your kids well being at the highest of priorities. You’re right this wasn’t part of the discussion, it was a reply to someone else and you quoted it here for some reason.
This is why I described your tone as demeaning because you’re attacking other community members for justifiably suggesting new content to be added to the game you don’t agree with which is fine as everyone is entitled to their thought. However you say there is no reason to add these costumes to the game (which is false) yet your only argument is that you want to play KI in front of your kids…seems pretty selfish if you ask me. You seem to be confused about what a T rated game can include anyways…I already explained this earlier so I’ll move on.
My argument is not I that I want to be as you say “a horn dog” an have digital titillation, it’s that I want things to be how they were suppose to originally be. We have gone 3 years without a single costume added to the game sexual or not, what makes you assume “we” or “I” all of a sudden need them? My gripe is that they screwed up the retro costumes and I wanted them done correctly. I don’t give a flying ■■■■ about seeing orchids butt, I want the classic costumes to look how they were originally intended to look. It just so happens that orchid’s retro costume shows skin…not my problem. Somehow adding a costume in which Mira or Orchid is wearing a bikini outfit somehow ruins the game as if your kid isn’t going to go to the beach a see woman in a bikini. Street Fighter V even added a beach stage to fit in with their costume packs and everyone had a blast and spent all their money on them and supported the game.
How is it possible to be wrong on a completely subjective topic? I feel bad because I don’t like arguing with fellow friendly community members over stupid stuff; I also didn’t appreciate your false accusations of myself and others like galactic geek. Iron Galaxy and Microsoft have never stated their proposition on anything concerning this matter actually; do you hide your kids when you play against Sadira players because her butt is all kinds of hanging out. You’ll probably have to tell MS to sensor that for you…gimme a break.
I’m glad you think it’s okay to shut down others wants for the game because you have kids. I don’t need sexy outfits for characters to play KI as I’ve clearly been without for 3 years now but I’m certainly not going to say no to them either.
Here is a picture of Juri’s new Christmas outfit coming to SFV.
Shes looks great, and it makes sense for the holiday themed pack to celebrate. Thousands of people will buy this costume and support the game, meanwhile KI not making any money because we have to worry about BigBadAndys kids seeing a belly button and cleavage.
I can’t count how many times I’ve seen this argument play out and it always seems to involve Orchid lol. Man, I wish I could remember the guy on the DH forums that seemed to start this argument once a week practically.
Anyways, at the end of the day, wanting something because “they had it before” or “because other games have it” or “because we want it” doesn’t amount to an argument. This isn’t 1995, it’s 2016, this isn’t other games, this is KI, and wanting something doesn’t negate the issues with wanting it, yet no one has been able to provide any counter point to why depicting female objectification in this game is a net benefit.
Or if you choose to use Sadira as an example of that objectification, please enlighten us as to why you feel there should be more objectification. Again… There are other games for that. PLENTY of them. If KI doesn’t have it now, or doesn’t have a lot of it, then why does it need to become one of those other games or have more of it? What benefit does it serve that surpasses the obvious downsides for others?
For some, it’s a potential sales issue. For some, it’s a parental issue. For some, it’s a moral issue. For some, it’s a maturity issue. I also think it’s a budgetary / practicality issue. MS & IG only have so much in the way of resources allocated to this game. Please keep that in mind.
I want cool and unique stuff for characters. I want them to spend time and money on making stuff that enhances my understanding of them and fleshes them out. None of these sexualized ideas are cool or unique. Not swimsuits, sensible evening wear, school girl outfits, super hero outfits or any other pack that seeks to homogenize all of the characters, male or female, and lump them into any particular fetish category. They’ve been done to death by other franchises. I mean, if you have a construction worker fetish, DOA5 has you covered. Why do we need more of this?
For me, that’s not personally why I play this particular game. So why squander what limited budget KI has on stuff like that?
To be clear, I’m not here to call you a pervert because you like seeing a little digital skin. I’m here to tell you that I’d like to see more character-centric ideas and whether or not they make the characters look more sexually attractive should be last on the list.
I want to see what Kan Ra looked like as a vizier, because I think that could be a cool and unique look. I’d also find it a lot more compelling than something like a suntan lotion nose, a striped shirt and swim trunks. It’s not funny, it’s not cute, and it’s not interesting. It’s a waste. Let’s not have stuff that waste their time and money please.
Why is the focus always on females? What about men? Are men being objectified because Ryu is shirtless in one of his costumes? I explained this up about in a reply to Big Andy. My only personal motivation for this discussion is to gain momentum for bringing the classic costumes back as they were originally meant to be seen without alteration. If Orchid’s butt has to hang out for nostalgia purposes then so be it. That is reason enough in itself.
I’m pretty sure no one in this thread has made the argument of well “other games did it” as an argument. Different people want different things, there is absolutely nothing wrong with people suggesting content that they would like to see and buy in the game. You or others would also be pretty foolish to assume that the only reason people want these things in the game is for sexual desire…I’m 25 and believe me when I say I don’t need to rely on digital booty.
Similar to the arguements I sometimes have with my mother I feel like everyone here is too busy arguing useless subjective words and tiny details instead of seeing the sender right in front of our nose. And sometimes that awnser has already been stated in the argument multiple times.
Of course this is my opinion but saying that sexy costumes have no place in fighting games is just absurd. Sexy as a word is subjective as hell. What sets me off is GAREENTEED to be different then almost everyone here. Hell someone here mentioned that pajamas and comfort close is a turn on for them. Does that mean we can’t have pajama Kim wu? Of course not.
someone here mentioned mma costumes as if to say that this is the barest any women should have on in a fighting game and even that it isn’t sexy to them so what is the point. I actually think it’s very sexy! Exposed midriffs sets me off not to mention the actual women wearing them. badass powerful women that can kick ■■■? Hell yea! Give me makoto from SF third strike in her karate gi any day over some nude SF mod.
What I’m trying to say is that sexiness is subjective so can we please stop assuming that every “sexy skins when” skin is nothing more than a horny guy looking for g-string bikini for every girl in the game? For all anyone knows he could literally be talking about something random like a gothic satin dress with a comically sized bow for hisako, or honestly if it was me a Thai inspired mma outfit for sadira. It derails the thread and you guys get into the same argument over and over again.
On the topic of retro orchid the fact of the matter is that the devs decided that in order to go balls to the wall with character design they promised retro outfits depicting the charecters in their OG outfits. Whether you think it’s a stupid idea because you don’t like the OG designs or not doesn’t really matter. Thunder aside because honestly I agree with their decision on that matter.
In order to find out if orchid KI 1design is too much for ki I feel like the obvious way to go is to maintain the status que. look at sadira clothes and then orchids clothes and decide which one is worse. If sadira is worse then bring in the proper retro costume. If not well then problem solved. This is straight up my opinion but sadira is either on the same level or a little bit worse than orchids OG outfit but noone really notices because while in motion and paying attention to the fight it’s not nearly that bad. I haven’t seen anyone post a thread saying "omg sadira to lewd think of the children"
I don’t think in motion a retro orchid would look that bad just like sadira.
And if the awnser is still no then I think the effort to create a ki2 orchid costume would be the proper way to go foreward. No other charecter has a mixture of ki. 1 and 2 for their retro.its one or the other for consistency sake if nothing else.
In closing it sounds soo much better to say we don’t like KI 1 orchid costume so instead we give you the full KI2 orchid instead.
Instead of saying we don’t like KI1 orchid costume so instead we threw in bits and pieces of her KI 2 clothes.
In my opinion juri costume is fine. But we shouldn’t go to the point of of Laura and Mika where there is literally nothing covering her breasts or butt. Literally each new costume for Laura she is wearing less and less clothes There is nothing wrong with showing skin but at some point your showing too much.
@CrazyLCD
Can you stop talking about SFV please?

I agree with your post. When we open up the gates where do we draw the line. Some people are fine with some legs and midriff and some people want Doa type costumes, how far do we go?
Hmm, just 2 things here, Ryu’s outfit was likely not designed by a woman, therefore it’s unlikely it was designed solely for the purpose of making Ryu sexually appealing to women, whereas the female characters in KI2 clearly received their main costumes to appeal to arcade going teenage boys and very clearly designed under the male gaze. A quick quote from Wikipedia:-
The male gaze is the way in which the visual arts and literature depict the world and women from a masculine point of view, presenting women as objects of male pleasure.
Secondly a shirtless, handsome buff male is as much appealing to men as it is to women, as it represents an ideal physique, which is often considered as a male power fantasy. (You’ve never once seen a weedy super hero, have you?)
So no, he isn’t, but until the female characters in a game actually are designed from a female perspective, that argument will never be exactly fair.
Anyways, just saying, carry on.
