thats a good idea
Unless its that MK Onslaught ios game, doubt we’ll be so lucky
this is of course an idea if it was like MK Armageddon.
Though we may see some 3D Era characters on the starting roster.
Reptile and Onega? I don’t know if this is true or not but if its true, that means my favorite of both 3D era character and Reptile himself will also return.
I don’t get the point of these discussion videos when there’s so little information. Like I don’t wanna watch some random guy with an annoying voice basically recite his wishlist under the guise of “predicting” based on a scrap of information that’s almost nothing.
well apparently there was tik tok video mentioning the three ninjas so its a sign that the OG trio will be there.
Though it looks like this could be leading to a multiverse, or an Armageddon ect.
Though I don’t know if any information points to the two.
I’ll talk when there’s actual substantial information to talk about. And not a clock ticking animation that tells us nothing and gets me excited 0.
Like I love MK but I’m so burnt out on it at this point. I want them to make something else and I know they’re making another MK but if it’s just a straight “MK12” that follows the story normally and has no real twist… I don’t think it’s worth it honestly. 11 was just such a downer, especially with its story but also with its sucky gameplay and grind-tastic focus on customization. And since WB games hasn’t exactly done anything to make me have faith in them with Multiversus or that new Suicide Squad game. They really have to do something interesting to get me actually excited.
I just hope the roster isnt disappointing as Mk11’s was at launch.
11 was only disappointing if you liked ninjas or Mileena. I loved 11’s launch roster and it only got better with time (Except for KP3. That was kind of a letdown imo). It’s just a shame they didn’t get to be in a game that played better.
And like I’ve said before. Unless this is a 9-11 trilogy game or a GKL prequel game… it’s gonna be pretty hard to sell me on a new MK regardless of who’s on the roster. I want them to do something with another IP.
Eh, I disagree. Lack of ninjas aside, the roster relied on too many special forces characters (MKX was just as guilty) , and the new characters they did include (Kollector and Cetrion) weren’t anything special. I could see what they were going for with them, but the end result just fell kinda flat. Geras was probably the only new character that actually had a cool idea behind him reversing time and all, but they just made him into a typical grunt for Kronika. Plus other characters couldve gotten a chance to shine in the new gen, but WB/NRS didnt wanna take any risks with it.
(That is if you count leaving out the purple chick a “bold move” only to have her show up again at the very end with no real explanation other than to silence the twitter hoards.)
DLC did helped the size a bit, but characters like Shang Tsung, Sheeva, and Nightwolf should’ve been there from the beginning imo.
IDK, just hope with a fresh start, they actually make the roster a lot more unique this time around, before the DLC drops. (Unlikely, but a guy can dream.)
I liked Cetrion. I feel like I’m the only one. I hope she comes back.
I liked Cetrion, Geras and especially Kollector. I also thought Kronika was underrated as a boss. Yeah, her appearance is honestly terrible (especially when you see some of the other proposed designs they could’ve gone with). But nah I liked the new characters introduced in MK11.
I also liked that the game had some of my favorites on the same roster. Namely Erron Black, Skarlet, Kabal, Baraka, Fujin and Kung Lao. I also like what they did move-wise with Noob, Jade, Kung Lao, Kabal, Baraka, Scorpion, Rain, Fujin (even though I couldn’t use him to save my life), Dvorah, Kotal, Johnny, Kitana and Sindel. Mileena was somewhat fun as well.
On the downside, they had way too many shooty pew pew characters in one game, way too much special forces (to the point where I really hope Sonya, Jax, Johnny and Cassie all take a game off), too much MK3 (not a fan of Sindel, Nightwolf or Sheeva really) and too many guests, which will likely only get worse in future games. Also didn’t actually enjoy playing as Skarlet, Erron Black or Fujin, which was a bummer.
But yeah, for MK12 or MK1 or whatever we’re calling it right now, I really hope they incorporate more 3D era characters. Frost and Fujin being the lone representatives on the entire MK11 roster was ridiculous. Give me Sareena, Jataaka, Reiko, Kai, Nitara, Moloch, Kira, Onaga, Khameleon and Daegon. Wouldn’t mind Drahmin, Havik and Kenshi too. So many characters they could reintroduce in a big way as opposed to give us our 8th or 9th iteration of a trilogy character that I could easily stand to miss for one title.
I hate that Johnny has become a “special forces” character because of the story and who he’s married and what his base costume is. I kind of wish each character could be reset to their iconic rolls and for Johnny to stay in his own lane despite still having a relationship with Sonya.
Plus they don’t need to give them all guns. Jack doesn’t need the thumper. Sonya doesn’t need guns. They can all be their own thing without using guns. Cassie using guns was supposed to make her different from her mother.
For me, I hated that, rather than being an immortal cowboy, Erron was a former Black Dragon member from Texas. I also didn’t at all like the change to Nightwolf’s ethnicity; in the earlier games, he was an Apache, but now he’s from the fictional “Matoka” tribe, which was actually the name for Pocahontas.
The Retcons were another reason MK11 didnt really jive well with me.
Hard to get invested in a story when they keep changing things out of thin air within the same trilogy.
I mean MKX at least tried to continue where MK9 left off. MK11 felt like a reboot within a reboot.
Indeed.
This. I mean, granted, it had some interesting elements and fascinating dimensions (ah, no pun intended), but some of the retcons were kind of annoying at times imo. On the other hand, one could say some of these retcons were due to Kronika doing what she wanted.
Cetrion and Geras were really interesting additions. Kronika, really like the idea of her, but appearance and abilities-wise, she could have been better imo.
Indeed. I loved what they’ve done with Fujin, but Frost? What a wasted opportunity. I think she honestly could have worked as a character imo.
This.
Honestly, considering Apache was just kind of the “go to native american tribe” in the past, with many people using the word to refer to all native americans, I don’t mind them actually putting thought into deciding what tribe he’d from. But making it a fictional one was kind of the wrong move. KI did it right with Thunder. They still got to have their made up fantasy elements, they just tied it into the real culture.
I didn’t like Erron’s retcon either. And i’m still mad about Sindel. Especially with how they talked about her on the Kombat Kast about how her being a loving mother despite being this “powerful scary looking elvira” didn’t make sense when I’m like… that’s just so bone headed. And Kabal… he wasn’t exactly retconned but the only parts of his story they picked from were when he worked for the Black Dragons and when he was a revenant. We never got his heroic side which is the character I actually like.
I actually like the re-do of Frost. Gameplay wise it was meh, but everyone in 11 (except Spawn for some reason) played like ■■■ because the whole game played like ■■■. They made so many wrong decisions from slowing down the combat and limiting the characters moves, to emphasizing their weapons over anything else. But I love Frost and I love the cyber ninjas so the re-do of Frost was amazing for me from a conceptual standpoint.
Almost everyone from the 3D era has something to work with and can be improved if you take the concept to the drawing board and re-invent it (except maybe the Chameleons, I don’t see the point in them unless you make them something other than ninjas who use the powers of other ninjas and change colors but at that point what’s the point of them being them). It’s just all about if they actually want to make an interesting game. 9 and X were really fun to play (at least for me, I never played against other people) and I feel like they need to kind of get back to that. But 11 burned me so much I don’t really trust them anymore.
Why can’t people just get over the idea of guest characters and except it for what it’s meant to be, really fun and cool? I liked everyone they added to 11 (except maybe Joker, I was expecting him but he was kind of a lame choice). I’m tired of the complaining about guest characters. It’s part of the reason I’m tired of the MK character reveal cycle.
I was dissapointed with the roster and the story choices with the game.
Reptile got left out, and by the time Rain came out I lost interest.
I understand why some dont like Guest characters. Me personally tho as long as the crossover itself makes sense, I usually dont mind it too much. (Ex:Hellboy/Ninja Turtles in Injustice, Spawn and 80’sMovie characters in MK, Akuma and Geese in Tekken worked fine.)
If you want a bad crossover, go look at the game SMITE using Transformers and Nicktoons guest characters inside a game thats supposed to be about ancient mythical gods. THATS a bad crossover combination imo.
But MK11 tho, they did go a little overboard by having 5 Guests. Couldve easily been 6 had Ash Williams actually been playable. If anything, 2 to 4 Guests should be minimum amount. Anything above that is going into “Smash Bros.” territory.
Then again, I dont work for WB. Long as they got big bucks to spend, literally anybody could be in MK at this point.
