Mortal Kombat 12

I got no qualms with guests as long as they don’t over saturate the roster and as long as they make sense.

I’m fine if we get one or two. because 5 is overboard.

I don’t think any number is overboard. They can do as many as they want. The developers are clearly having a lot of fun with them in the Kombat Kasts and that energy is contagious. Obviously I’m not advocating for the entire roster to be guest characters. But if a character would be cool in the game, they’ed be cool in the game. Reguardless of where they come from.

Yeah. I can kind of agree with that. It should make thematic sense and a lot of them do. I have a list of characters I want in SF6 I want to see that I think would work amazingly. But the transformers and nicktoons really don’t fit Smite. If anything stuff like Kratos from God of War or Gozer from Ghostbusters would make more sense… maybe the Darksiders characters…

To each their own. The roster brought back so many characters I love (Kabal, Frost, Sindel, Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn, Nightwolf, Skarlet, Sheeva, and Fujin) and gave me a bunch of really cool crossover characters (I lost my ■■■■ at basically all of them except Joker I was so hyped). Plus Cetrion and Geras were cool. Didn’t mind the lack of ninjas. It’s just a shame the story was lame and the game played like ■■■.

I know your not trying to fill the whole roster of it. It does not make sense. but where’s the threshold? how far do you go till its too many? cause you dont wanna fill half the roster.

Plus you may potentially leave out characters like Havok, Nitara or others who have yet to make a comeback in the games.

Don’t get me wrong I can see guest characters helping out with sales, but I don’t think they need to take priority over other characters. That’s why two to me is at max.

I generally put in one or two for every season pass the game gets. One if the season pass gets three characters, two if the season pass gets 6. That way there’s a balance and there are always core MK characters being added for every guest character. Essentially the MK11 rule.

Granted we’ve never had an MK with the kind of extended support a game like Street Fighter 5 got… IDK… the number changes in proportion with the roster I think. If it’s smaller then you can get away with a smaller amount of guests. But if it’s bigger then you can do more. I’m opposed to putting a hard limit on it for that reason.

personally I just stick with two.

The rest can go to characters who haven’t shown up in a game in years.

Like Nitara, Havok, ect.

We get both though. It’s a sliding scale. Why put a hard limit on something that’s just supposed to be fun?

Guess another factor agaisnt Guests characters is licensing contracts. I mean MK9 was apparently removed from both steam and all digital stores due to an expired Freddy Kruger deal, resulting in WB shutting the servers down.

So while having guests can be fun, that alone does make me concerned for games like MKX and MK11 regarding preservation in the future.

Doesnt help matters that MK11 is mostly “online only” to begin with.

It can be fun, I think this would be a way to give other characters a chance while also adding fan favs and new characters as well.

I’m not quite sure if being an Apache was so much of a “go-to” decision within the context of popular culture, if not video games. I can’t really say with much certainty on that front.

It’s all about proportionality for me. As long as there are significantly more MK characters than guest characters, it’s fine. But I like being able to expect at least one every pack. And if they do more than two packs, that already breaks your hard limit.

Like, as an example. I got way less interested in Tekken 7’s DLC once the guest characters just stopped cold turkey.

It’s only my personal opinion. that don’t mean they’re gonna limit it to just two.
If we end up getting more than two, then that’s fine as long as we got more MK characters that are fan favs, some new and some who have not appeared in the line yet.

I just had a thought in regards to the new teaser. Combine the idea of a “trilogy game” with the idea of a reboot and going back to the beginning of the story. And we get a game with every character from the first three MK games and a selection of choice characters from the later installments.

Like, no joke. If the first trailer is “everyone from one-3 is back” that’s the kind of thing that could get me excited because then every reveal after would deal like a genuine surprise.

And then they could tell a new version of the classic story that includes characters like D’Vorah, Erron Black, General Kotal, Ferra/Torr, Cetrion, Havik, Tanya, Bo’ Rai Cho, Skarlet, Tremor, Ashrah, Frost, etc. reguardless of where they would have fit in either original chronology. I actually think that would be fun.

Also. I still like this idea for a character. Liu Kang and Kitana are Time gods, they have twin kids. A son and a daughter. And those kids are like, shadow influencing the timeline to make sure things don’t go against their parent vision. And they share a slot in a Noob-Smoke situation.

I’ve seen it. I just hope it’s interesting. If it’s just Scorpion and Sub-Zero fighting with “next Gen graphics” then that will be boring as hell and honestly, the game itself won’t be that exciting

Since the Teaser for the movie just came out. I think it would be hilarious if a Five Nights at Freddy’s character ended up in the new MK.

hmmm doubtful.

Doubtful yes. But it’s still a hilarious idea.
