Mortal Kombat 12

Indeed. While the base game has a lot of bang for its buck with a great storymode, the whole mentality of “develop-as-you-go” gaming is pretty dangerous, even at times kind of scummy.

Yeah absolutely, this is 100% the risk here. There’s always the possibility that these greedy practices drive fans away and instead of realizing the reason for lagging sales, they simply put the IP on ice and move on to the next IP they can use to build a game shell around a storefront with. Or worse, the game underperforms expectations and all of a sudden NRS is the next Bungie. I honestly think if it can happen to them, it can happen to any studio, and I don’t think any game or franchise improves by laying off over a hundred staff members.

My sincere hope is that they actually listen to fans and hear that a lot of us are upset about how they’ve handled this game and the prices of a lot of the things they’re charging for that used to be largely free. I’m not saying I want all post-launch content to be free, but at least make a feature complete game and don’t gouge me to death by a thousand deep cuts for everything under the sun. I still remember how much the last Dead or Alive game did this with skins and it honestly may have killed that franchise.

Eh, I don’t think this is Netherealm’s call. All of these prices. All of the content in the store. Releasing the game with so few single player modes, etc. A lot of this stinks of WB and the way they’ve been handling all of their games over the last decade. I don’t expect this kind of behavior from NRS, but I 100% expect it from WB, who in my opinion are absolutely approaching EA levels of scumbaggery.

Yeah, I agree. I know that in this day and age, with how big games are and how long they take to make, that most games are not going to release without any bugs or stuff like that. Spiderman 2 is only the most recent in a litany of titles to have some pretty funny bug moments displayed on Twitter and what not. But for me it’s the lack of modes in MK1 and the lack of scope within their main single player mode (Invasions) that gets me. Who knows, maybe they’ll expand the mode when new mesas come out and maybe they’ll even add more modes, but I sincerely doubt it. They’ve never added new modes in the past that I can recall.

Two things.

  1. WB Games does not care about any of us, even if we’re on these forums. They care about money. As Nino Brown from New Jack City says “Money talks! ■■■■■■■■ runs a marathon!”

  2. It’s not wrong to want post-launch content to be free. Look at MK11 Aftermath. That should’ve been free.

I’m at a point where I absolutely refuse to watch MK1 related content. I don’t care if it’s a new character trailer or mesa. I rather the game suffers like MultiVersus did and be done with the franchise until someone who cares about MK and its fans steps in a makes a better game that isn’t a Game as a service (GaaS).

If that makes me bitter, then so be it. To whoever paid to play MK1, you get exactly what you paid for and then some. The Aftermath is coming with a price tag and so is the new seasonal Fatalities. If that doesn’t demotivate you to not buy games that are GaaS, then I wish you good luck on keeping the franchise alive, for I am not responsible for that.

Bad AND disappointing news for the character of Homelander in Kombat Pack 1

The Curse of Megan Fox strikes again.

What makes you say that? And what does Antony have to do with Megan anyway?

I think its because Megan fox did not perform her voice very well. So he feels that may happen with Homelander

But Antony Starr IS Homelander, right?

More so of them hiring somebody who had nothing to do with Nitara as a character, over the guy who actually played Homelander.

His face is literally on the character model, so not having the proper actor doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Priorities.

Honestly, Johnny Cage, Reptile and Baraka are my top 3 well-written characters of MK1.

Which I’am glade they did give Reptile is ow chapter. Which it’d been nice to see earlier but hey better late than never.

The story is defiantly a step close to MK9 in writing. MKX was okay and MK11 was…not so great.

I do still miss the scaly reptilian skin reptile but they did implement is reptilian origins. So they didn’t stray at all. they just went back to the OG Trilogy.

Granted I think they could’ve given him and his reptilian form abit more in design.

To a certain extent, Megan Fox’s casting kind of made sense since she played a similar character in “Jennifer’s Body”. Ideally I would have wanted a better actress for her, and yeah, some lines weren’t done well, but I didn’t think it was the worst imo.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens with Homelander and his voice actor, but hopefully he’ll be better. I’m curious to know what Homelander’s fatalities will be.

I hate WB Games. They are responsible for what MK1 is going through.

Isn’t modern gaming just great

So, it would seem that Quan Chi is in touch with some eldritch horrors given the portals and tentacles. Looks somewhat Gargos-inspired, although I think it’s a little more fitting in Quan Chi’s case.

Story-wise, I really enjoyed it until the 2nd last Chapter. Things fell apart after that for me. Don’t want to post spoilers here.

Mortal Kombat (2011)'s story was nostalgic and great for its time, but it has not aged well in the slightest.

Mortal Kombat XL’s had the best plotline of the modern games (the Outworld Civil War) and it’s a shame it wasn’t centre stage. The main plot was okay. The overall story had some very large plot holes though.

Mortal Kombat 11’s story I feel was unfairly dumped on. It has extremely high production values and was quite fun. While things went in a direction I did not expect with the game, I enjoyed it for what it was.

Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath’s story felt redundant overall, honestly, and rather short. It was cool to see the villains get the spotlight, and I judge anything that released/was developed through the pandemic with a lot more slack.

Mortal Kombat 1’s story, in-spite of being a retelling of the 3D era, was great and enjoyable until the 2nd last Chapter, as I mentioned. Great production values as well, but those last few Chapters really dragged things down and make it lesser than Mortal Kombat 11’s story for me.

Yeah, the issues the game has I’m confident is from WB Games. I’m also not a fan of live service games, the model is not for me.

Portals are nothing new to him, but the tentacles are.
