Mortal Kombat 11

Me too…but I feel his look has went a bit south compared to his overall MKX look. THis new look is just odd. He looks and moves like Tusk

Have the connections gotten any better on Kombat League? Haven’t tried it at all yet.

This weekend was my first experience with kombat league.

So far, super easy to climb(16-5 if I recall correctly, which is good enough after almost a month without playing)

So far, no connections issues.

Started playing MK11 after a good break and thought about Kabal for a while, which reminded me of how I played Killer Instinct; Only playing characters with human skull gear (Headgear being VERY important) via customization or by default which includes skeletal characters.

Scorpion, in my personal opinion has no real skeletal headgear (Masks/Helmets I should say) like Shao Kahn, Kabal, Kitana, Noob and Erron Black does, so…I’m gonna end up dropping him until masks like this picture below return.

(Note: Pay attention to the headgear.)

Hopefully after tomorrow NRS will think about this, on top of fixing the grind we have now.

Yeah the grind is pretty bad in this mode. I’ve played 130 matches and like many I face, my record is hovering around .500 more or less. For that, I’m about 700 kombat points away from Demi God.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy playing for playing’s sake, but if you’re going to create a mode that incentivizes players with rewards, maybe make the rewards better and more frequent if you’re going to expect players to play THAT much in order to win. Or just take the grind down a little bit by giving players more points for wins and slightly less for losses. Or all of the above.

On a side note, I’m finally starting to get better against Scorpion. I suppose that comes through repetition, which I more or less assumed it would. I still think that his teleport is a touch too fast and his death spin needs SOME form of startup given how fast it comes out, the range on it, and the damage it can do if Scorpion has his fire buff going.

It is kinda funny though… For some reason I’ve had SEVERAL players pick Kung Lao after I’ve chosen him, as if there’s some sort of bonus cool points for beating me with my own character, only to go to Scorpion when they lose. Not saying I’m good, and I certainly haven’t won all of my matches against KL, but it still kinda cracks me up when it happens.

The real cool points come in if they actually play Shang Tsung and morph into the your character of choice in my opinion. I’ve had mixed success with this tactic against players who use Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

I have seen more bull ■■■■ -ery associated with character select in this game than I have seen in ages. I wish it just went to the default of not showing your selection like KI does. People fly all over the place selecting and unselecting my character, other characters. And then 9/10 they pick scorpion. It’s like “why?” If I see WiFi and three bars or fewer I know you’re picking scorpion anyway. No one is fooled.

Few people know that you can actually hide your selection tho. Yeah, it would be cool if your opponents cant see your pick by default in ranked

Yeah, but it also hides the cursor from you, doesn’t it? Which is more than a little annoying.

Yeah, you could put the cursor one space away from your char, hide it, move one, and all forward(put favorite in your skillset of choice).

Sub optimal, I know xD

I like how (with the right AI Behavior settings) AI controlled Scorpion performs better than 99% of actual human Scorpion players online.

Yeah I don’t know if some of them think it’s EVO Grand Finals or what, but these people are flat out obnoxious. I’m picking my character, let’s go play a match. You don’t have to outmaneuver me on the select screen because I’m not trying to maneuver to begin with, let’s just play.

The 9/10 picking Scorpion though… I have to say that kinda bugs me, because you’re absolutely right as far as this tier of player is concerned. Granted, I’ve run to Scorpions of all skill level, but it’s honestly kind of annoying that he’s THIS popular. On a roster this big, one character shouldn’t be selected this much. It gets insanely repetitive after a while.

I put in roughly 130-140 matches in this season and of those, I’d say that I fought Scorpion roughly 70% of the time. Maybe more. In contrast, there were several characters that I saw less than three times: D’vorah, Frost, Kotal Khan, Jaqui Briggs, Sonya Blade, Skarlet, Cassie Cage, Raiden, Cetrion, Kollector, Johnny Cage, Shao Khan, Kano, Geras and Jade. That’s well over half the roster. That’s insane to me.

I get making Scorpion a sort of introductory character. They’ve done that in past games. But to make someone that easy to use also that good on top of being arguably the franchise symbol… I dunno. It just feels like they’re doing a disservice to the rest of the roster and to the players that want to play online ranked.

Disservice might be a stronger word than I intend. I don’t think Ed and the gang were out to hurt their game or the fans or anything along those lines. But it would be nice if they could find a way to balance the character a bit so that more players are a bit more inclined to explore the rest of the roster.

So anyone coming across this wave of Kung Laos lately that just seem to always have their turn and odd movements that throw you off? I havent figured out how to really get an edge on Kung Lao yet. He is supposed to be like the worst character in the game along side Devorah but IM not seeing it.

Any tips? Right now Im really hating Kung Lao, Erron Black and JAx. Scorpion and SUb Zero are old news… at least you fight them so often you start understanding how to fight them.

A lot of Kung Lao’s pressure is not real, but you have a very limited window to hit him out of it. So he’s one of those characters that, for tournament players, is going to be low tier. But in online matches with a little bit of lag, for everyday joes who can’t hit the 2 frame window where he’s vulnerable he’s just going to be a monster. I’ve played a bit of Kung Lao and he’s a bit tricky to use. But he’s definitely got some good options that work well enough in the real world.

Scorpion is the Jago of this game. So yeah, you learn how to fight him. For my money, sub zero has better mix up tools and is much more challenging. I have lots of trouble with Jax. Blocking high helps but he’s not devoid of low hitting damage so I find him a tough matchup. I run into very few Erin Black players but in general just block High to prevent yolo boot kick and try to be unpredictable in your spacing.

Never give too much credence to week 2 tier lists. Lao has a bunch of unsafe strings so the internet decided he was trash, but neglected his large damage and the pure 50/50 potential arising from his fantastic mid option (which you don’t have to commit further to). Kung Lao can be really unsafe, but who heck says you have to play him that way?

As to why there are so many, I’d assume it’s because Foxy Grandpa has been showing out with the character and convincing the masses that yeah, Lao’s pretty good. Lots of people already liked him - now that they see he’s not bad they’re more than happy to jump back on the bandwagon.

I’m a Lao Player as well as Johnny Cage, so if anyone has questions, I’d be happy to help!

I got wrecked by a Johny Cage the other day. Which was great because I wanted to play as him but couldn’t get anything going. Maybe someday we can run a lobby and talk about some stuff with him.

I tried so hard to ignore the grind in this game. But sadly, I could not. Not only am I still not happy with the game, I am annoyed with NRS for not even updating the game nor the servers before the day of the 2nd season of the Kombat League.

So, I decided to delete this game from my PS4 until Spawn comes out (seeing as I already pre-ordered the game at the risk of not getting a refund).

Tekken 7, Killer Instinct and even Street Fighter V (and I don’t play Street Fighter) had better update schedules than this.

I am completely done with this game.

Ran out of space on your PS4? Or you think your little protest is something NRS will care about?

I suspect the temper tantrum will have little effect on most people.

I don’t agree with you on the DLC part. I’ve soap boxed a ton about my disdain for on disk DLC. But that’s different than what you reference, these are free unlockables. My criticism of on Disk DLC is those games that are incomplete without it and the only way to get it is through paying so in effect the game is priced at 60$ but really it’s 60+whatever the dlc cost to round out the game is. Aesthetics like costumes do not fall into that category.

Also if you are not a fan of unlockable characters I suggest never touching Smash Ultimate, you start with like 1/10th of the roster.
