Mortal Kombat 11

In the story, Kotal Kahn talked about how he killed Goro, which is why the Shokan don’t like him.

What am I looking at here?

I don’t know why you guys worry so much about these dead characters. I’m sure NRS doesn’t. Half the current cast is simultaneously dead and alive, the end of the story mode leaves the timeline pretty much wide open and they have had Freddy Krueger and the Predator as DLC. They aren’t going to worry about dead Kenshi being in the Krypt. They will be happy to bring him back if they feel like it.

Dammn Kano character tower stage 3 towers is geting ridiculous! I had to switch to AI fighter just to get past Baraka with gas fumes that steal your meter for the enitre match and his unblockable punches hands…ugh

Well… I guess IM at a stand still fro a while on this Kano tower…I need 75 fatalities for Kano and then 75 brutalitites for the finale. And it shows Ive only done 3! Thats BS! Ive done way more than 3 Kano brutalities… hell Ive recorded at least 5 Kano brutalitites! Also says Ive only done 9 Kano Fatalitites…SMH…no way.

Those Fatalities and Brutalities count in every game mode. So you can go online and do it if you want.

The Brutalities are the hard ones though

Yes I know but it apparently isnt tlalying them correctly becasue I know fro a fact Ive done more than 3 Kano Brutalitites. No doubt about it. Hell I did more than 3 just tonight!
Ill finish it but its going to take a while for sure.

That’s actually a reference to a battle in the comics where Kotal cut off Goro’s arms. Which is like cutting off a man’s genitals in Shokan culture.

Nothing, it was just a rage quit that someone did after I switched to Johnny Cage after going 0-2.

I don’t mind characters being dead and all. Doesn’t bother me. I just like the game, and who ever they put in the game, I’m happy with. It was just a joke.

Apart from the legs, her MK3 outfit was actually the most covered-up of all the females in that game. All they would have to do is put her in a bodysuit instead of a leotard, and call it a day. I expect her alt costumes to be heavy armor though.

Ed Boon doesn’t do repeats of DLC characters, and Kenshi was DLC in MK9. So unless WB forces him to bring Kenshi back, he ain’t coming back.

On a side note, has anyone noticed how inconsistent this game is with language? Some intros are left intact while others got bleeped (including one that wasn’t bleeped in the beta). Seems weird that an M-Rated game like MK is censoring swearing while T-Rated games like Blazblue allow it no problem.

He doesn’t until he does. I actually don’t like Kenshi and would be happy for him to go away, I just don’t think people need to get all nuts about reading into the backgrounds. People always feel the need to make these definitive declarations but they really can (and will) do whatever they feel like doing and we don’t know what that is. I also don’t know why people have to insist on dragging WB into it. I don’t see any evidence that WB has had any substantial interference with NRS - besides rescuing them from the wreckage of Midway.

I haven’t noticed about the swearing. I suspect that the “censoring” is there for creative reasons not any kind of external reason. Does Johnny Cage still have his f-bomb between rounds dialogue?

Yeah, and Kotal was angry because Goro killed his dad. He knew that Shokan’s believed that in the honorable death. So Kotal would not grant him that request out of spite.

What do you think it would take for them to actually make a substantial change to the unlock/progression system? Because from watching Max’s newest video, they basically did nothing.

kotal is cool, he lopped off goros arms for a good reason id say lol. here is max’s vid for those wanting to see

Max said on twitch that the single player content went from 3/10 to 6/10. So they didn’t do nothing. But they are essentially improving the system as it is, not changing it into something else.

Yeah I just watched it. Seems like there have been some improvements, which is nice. Strange that they apparently didn’t do anything in terms of how quickly players accumulate the souls currency though.

I’ve been going through the novice classic tower on easy to get the character endings and the rewards cycle from koins to souls to hearts and back again. When it’s on souls though, you get a whopping 5 for beating the tower lol. Cool. What’s that? That one soul spire costs 10,000 souls? Well I’m here farming them five at a time, I get that spire in two shakes of a never.

I do have to say though that I disagree with Max on his biggest issue, which is the randomness of everything. I can see why he doesn’t like it and I can see why people want to just go in and get the thing they want, but to me that kinda negates the whole point of the krypt and exploring and unlocking stuff. Same goes for his idea of putting a price on stuff in the kustomize character section. If NRS just priced skins at 150k, you’ll see people get that one thing they want and not even bother with the krypt.

Again, I totally get why people would prefer that, but this game was designed to be played for months, not days. I agree with him that the grind for towers that have requirements for brutalities, fatalities, crushing blows and fatal blows is insane and NRS needs to drop those numbers by at least 50%, but people wanted a game that was supported for a long time. If people are unlocking stuff for a long time, they’re more likely to stick with the game as NRS releases new content, so why would they have a krypt that you can finish in a week or two or allow players to bypass it entirely and just buy what they want whenever they want?

Max gave the current economy in the game a 6/10. I’d probably say it’s a 7/10. Not too different, but a few of the things that bother him feel more like they’re there to help the longevity of the game and that’s fine by me.

I just disagree. It has no respect for your time. It wants this to be the only game you play and for you to play it for 8 hours a day. No NeatherRealm. That’s not happening.

Well, you don’t HAVE to do it that way. People have complained for years that MK games are played for a month and then completely abandoned by players. Now we have something that’s designed for more of a longer grind; to pay out rewards over a longer period of time.

I mean, I guess that’s just one way of looking at it though. Obviously others feel the way you do and think the grind shouldn’t be this bad. I really don’t know how NRS wins though. They put a ton of stuff in this game. Were they supposed to put even more to keep people playing longer? I don’t see a scenario where people on both sides of the issue are happy.

I think the best compromise, for me, would be to pay out more on stuff, and it looks like that’s what they’ve done. Maybe it’s still a little too lopsided though? I’m not entirely sure. The patch is going live today for XB1 owners, I believe, and I haven’t played it yet.

I think the best way is for there to be options. There are people who are going to want to try the krypt, which would cost less. And some people are gonna want to pay the elevated prices for instant gratification.

A game shouldn’t force you to play any one way.

What are the elevated prices for instant gratification that you suggest? Do you mean paying real money?

No. Just a higher amount of koins. Or even a whole other kind of currency.

I tend to agree with @Iago407. The thing about randomness is that the Krypt has always been random. And everyone always loved it until now, when suddenly randomness is a problem. All of the “important” chests are not random so it doesn’t seem any more of an issue than it should have in the past.

I have not really enjoyed the Krypt, basically ever. I didn’t buy MKX to play an Eye of the Beholder (points to anyone who gets the reference) style dungeon crawl. And I found the currency grind too much even then. But it is what it is. And remember these are cosmetics.

@CausingThought6 there are some options. Max was sitting at a statue dropping in 75k to get random gear and 100k to get random skins. It’s still random but it’s not grinding for souls and wandering through the Krypt.

I think at this point you have registered your complaint, and it’s a valid complaint. But Ed Boon (as far as I know) isn’t here and it seems pretty clear they aren’t just going to scrap the Krypt. As an aside, people think it’s about microtransactions but at this point I suspect it’s more about the fact that they spent millions creating a very elaborate recreation of Shang Tsung’s Island and making puzzles and whatnot and now they don’t want to just throw it in the trash. Anyway, my point is you haven’t even played the game yet and you are making yourself miserable and frustrated just thinking about the grind. Maybe it’s better just to try to make a mental adjustment so that you can actually enjoy the game when you get a chance to play it. Everyone seems to agree that there is a lot to enjoy.

On another note, does anyone know if it has the online cooperative multiplayer boss rush that Inj.2 had where you take a free friends and try to beat a “boss” level character? I found that surprisingly fun to do with my brother and my nephew.
