Injustice 2

So according to the Injustice 2 announcement trailer, everyone is Iron Man now…

Yeah I was thinking the same thing after I typed it but (and this is likley just me assuming things) but a few comments in this thread making similar comments about how NRS is for casuals that only play the game for a week and then get back to their senses etc. seemed to imply that NRS games don’t have many people playing them after a few months, which is clearly not the case with all things considered. So if the idea is that fewer players = bad game…See what I mean? Like I said though, that could be just reading into things too much as I tend to do.

I would also argue that Injustice or MKX could have stayed relevant for quite a bit if NRS chose to do continued support over a couple years rather than drop a game every 2 years and focus only on the new one. At least I think that could be the case for MKX since it now has a good netcode.

And yeah I am in no way bagging on KI, I love it. I would say this one (2013) is probably my most played next gen game, and I honestly have not played much else since I got it last December lol

Nope. Everyone is a Power Ranger.

I am surprised they made batman get an armor that covers his whole face, and it looks like Superman is getting something similar. Also, was that Supergirl? I was kind of hoping for Powergirl :frowning: lol

Supergirl and Power Gril are the same, just make them be skin swaps of each-other.

They could and they kind of did that with Hal Jordan and John Stewart in the first game and with Damien Wayne and D-i-c-k Grayson too, so maybe they will. I would love to get a powergirl costume.

This should clear a few things up…

WARNER BROS. INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES INJUSTICE 2

Build the Ultimate Version of Your Favorite DC Characters

in the Super-Powered Sequel to NetherRealm Studios’ Injustice: Gods Among Us

Burbank, Calif. - June 8, 2016 – Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today announced Injustice 2, the super-powered sequel to the hit game Injustice: Gods Among Us. The newest game in development from the award-winning NetherRealm Studios features a massive roster of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains and allows players to build and power up the ultimate version of their favorite DC characters. Injustice 2 will be available for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One in 2017.

The official Injustice 2 trailer can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/hX0WA6yIZ7I

“In Injustice 2, we are introducing new features that will change the way fans play fighting games,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios. “We’re always interested in pushing the genre forward and allowing players to customize and level-up their favorite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains is a significant leap.”

“Expanding the DC Universe in games continues to be one of our top priorities, and Injustice 2 showcases amazing gameplay and an original story to bring the characters to life for players,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “NetherRealm Studios is offering fans an experience of customizing and battling with DC’s iconic characters in an entirely new way.”

Injustice 2 offers the latest DC fighting game experience that expands on the previous title’s larger-than-life showdowns. Every battle defines you in a game where players personalize iconic DC characters with unique and powerful gear earned throughout the game. For the first time gamers can take control of how their characters look, fight and develop across a variety of game modes.

Injustice 2 continues the epic cinematic story introduced in Injustice: Gods Among Us as Batman and his allies work towards putting the pieces of society back together while struggling against those who want to restore Superman’s regime. In the midst of the chaos, a new threat appears that will put Earth’s existence at risk. Players can play from the biggest DC roster ever offered in a fighting game, from classic fan favorites such as Batman, Superman, Supergirl and Aquaman, to astonishing new villains like Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd. Battles will take place across arenas that have evolved in scale and span across iconic locations such as Metropolis, Gotham City and Atlantis.

To celebrate the announcement of Injustice 2, fans who have downloaded the hugely successful Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile game can unlock the Injustice 2 versions of Superman and Aquaman through the in-game Challenge Modes. Released in 2013 and developed from the ground up by NetherRealm Studios, the Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile game is available as a free download on the App Store and Google Play.

Was just about to post it!

Go on…

To the best of my knowledge, Midway was purchased in 2009 by WB. It was changed to WB Chicago which was then changed to NRS. Meaning NRS is a small company owned by WB… meaning NRS is a subsidiary of WB. I’d be happy to eat crow, but you’ll have to post something more than “it is complicated”.

@Blade4693

Yeah, MKX pulls in higher numbers. MKX is more on par with Xrd right now. Nothing right now is even close to touching SFV or Smash4 with T7 pulling in a distant third. But as other people have stated, NRS games have a habit of drying up stupid fast especially when another game comes out from them.

MK9 disappeared very quickly after Injustice came out which in turn dried up before MKX even hit. You’ll actually have some direct numbers to compare here shortly. Evo will launch registration numbers when registration closes sometime near June 30th, and last year MKX had 1162 entrants. Comparing the two will give you a rough idea of the health of the game.

My guess (based on previous years) is that there will be fewer entrants than last year despite there being more registrants. I’d also guess that Injustice 2 is main stage in Evo 2017 and MKX is a side tournament, but that really all depends on which game people choose to play.

All that said, NRS games (as much as I loathe the company… to include WB so I don’t start too much ■■■■) are definitely not “just for casuals”. SonicFox does well at virtually any game he touches (MK9, Inustice, MKX, SG, SFV, DoA, UNIEL), and though he’s been prioritizing SFV over MKX (I believe I read that), his very involvement basically proves that the games aren’t just for casuals. Is the competition as stiff as in SFV or Xrd? Maybe not… but you’re still looking at incredible players if you decide to play it competitively.

From this article:

We are super excited to announce the latest installment of the Injustice franchise, Injustice 2, coming to Playstation 4 in 2017. As the sequel to 2013’s Injustice: Gods Among Us, we wanted to come out swinging. We’re doing all of the things you’d expect from a sequel. We’re adding new characters, new environments, and we’re taking environment destruction and interaction to the next level.
But we didn’t want to stop there. At NetherRealm, we always want to make games that are fun, challenging and innovative. We strive to give players a level of control that makes playing our games a truly personal experience. For that reason, we have introduced a brand new Gear System, allowing players to build their own version of Superman, their Batman and ultimately, their Injustice Universe. The Gear System uses RPG-like mechanics to reward you with loot drops every time you play the game. With each loot drop, you will earn character-specific gear to outfit and power up your roster – changing not only the look of each character, but your fight strategy and your personal approach to every match. As you gear up your characters, you’re building a roster of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains that reflects your choices, and your preferences, which can be vastly different than your opponents. A few play sessions in, you can expect your Aquaman to look and play different than anyone else’s Aquaman you may come across.
And of course we’re going to continue to tell the epic story of the Injustice Universe. When last we saw them, Superman was imprisoned in a Red Sun prison cell, while Batman was continuing the good fight against the forces that would see Superman’s tyranny back in power. Where do we go from here? And what new characters will join the fight? Of course you’ll have to play the game to find out. And we can’t wait for you to get your hands on this game. We’re excited to see your vision come to life on screen.
Stay tuned! We’ll continue to drop information as we lead up to our launch in 2017.

Not sure how I feel about the whole rpg customization mechanics. Could be very unbalanced if it isn’t handled properly.

I’m thinking that customization buffs would be disabled from online. Or ranked more so.

Yeah I think this is the sad part. They just completely abandon games so quickly. If they went in to E3 with a bunch of Injustice 2 gameplay, and then surprised everyone by saying “we’re not giving up on MKX yet” and then announce a 3rd Kombat Pack, I think it’d go a long way toward giving some of their players a little hope that each game will have a more substantial lifecycle.

Could you please post the source of this article? ^^

Okay. Please pull up the acquisition documents (oops, you haven’t seen them). Please explain, contractually, how much control of NRS comes externally from WB and how much control NRS has over decisions that WB makes (oops, you don’t know). Please tell me how the assets of NRS are controlled. Tell me whether or not new employees at NRS are considered WB employees or not. There are many different ways for one company to own another, and they are as individual as relationships between people. The management of NRS may be very different and isolated from WB.

You are making the statement that criticism of NRS is criticism of WB because they are one and the same. But they aren’t one and the same. Ford and Volvo merged a while back (and have since split). No one is going to say criticism of Ford is the same as criticism of Volvo. NRS is a development studio owned by WB. That is the relationship. What you are doing is like criticizing 343 Industries for decisions Microsoft makes. Studios sometimes make games that Publishers decide not to release. The relationship between studios and publishers is filled with conflict - even for owned subsidiaries. Look at the history of Infinity Ward and Activision for a high profile example.

So if you want to criticize NRS for the game they made, then direct your criticism at them (keeping in mind they didn’t work on the PC port). If you want to direct your criticism at decisions about the PC release, lack of continued support etc., then you need to direct them at WB.

Guys, I have flagged your entire conversation as off-topic. Please stop or go someplace else to continue your conversation.

I really hope that they are able to do something interesting with the whole armor mechanic, because my first impression was not great. I’m not saying that a mechanic I haven’t even really seen yet is bad, I’m just saying that it seems like this could either be a cool twist like character traits or a somewhat underwhelming addition like the clash system.

From what I understand, you will be able to unlock accessories, or “Gear”, for each character to customize them, changing up their playstyles and mix’n match the moveset to fit your personal style.

It could be really interesting, but it could also turn out to be incredible imbalanced.

I’m super excited from the look of that trailer. I only ask for one thing from Ed Boon. And that’s Red Hood.
