Burbank, Calif. - June 8, 2016 – Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today announced Injustice 2, the super-powered sequel to the hit game Injustice: Gods Among Us. The newest game in development from the award-winning NetherRealm Studios features a massive roster of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains and allows players to build and power up the ultimate version of their favorite DC characters. “In Injustice 2, we are introducing new features that will change the way fans play fighting games,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios. “We’re always interested in pushing the genre forward and allowing players to customize and level-up their favorite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains is a significant leap.”

“Expanding the DC Universe in games continues to be one of our top priorities, and Injustice 2 showcases amazing gameplay and an original story to bring the characters to life for players,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “NetherRealm Studios is offering fans an experience of customizing and battling with DC’s iconic characters in an entirely new way.”

Injustice 2 offers the latest DC fighting game experience that expands on the previous title’s larger-than-life showdowns. Every battle defines you in a game where players personalize iconic DC characters with unique and powerful gear earned throughout the game. For the first time gamers can take control of how their characters look, fight and develop across a variety of game modes.

Injustice 2 continues the epic cinematic story introduced in Injustice: Gods Among Us as Batman and his allies work towards putting the pieces of society back together while struggling against those who want to restore Superman’s regime. In the midst of the chaos, a new threat appears that will put Earth’s existence at risk. Players can play from the biggest DC roster ever offered in a fighting game, from classic fan favorites such as Batman, Superman, Supergirl and Aquaman, to astonishing new villains like Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd. Battles will take place across arenas that have evolved in scale and span across iconic locations such as Metropolis, Gotham City and Atlantis.

To celebrate the announcement of Injustice 2, fans who have downloaded the hugely successful Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile game can unlock the Injustice 2 versions of Superman and Aquaman through the in-game Challenge Modes. Released in 2013 and developed from the ground up by NetherRealm Studios, the Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile game is available as a free download on the App Store and Google Play.

Injustice 2 Revealed, Coming to PS4 in 2017

Tyler Lansdown’s Avatar Posted by Tyler Lansdown on Jun 08, 2016 // Community Specialist, NetherRealm Studios

"We are super excited to announce the latest installment of the Injustice franchise, Injustice 2, coming to Playstation 4 in 2017. As the sequel to 2013’s Injustice: Gods Among Us, we wanted to come out swinging. We’re doing all of the things you’d expect from a sequel. We’re adding new characters, new environments, and we’re taking environment destruction and interaction to the next level.

But we didn’t want to stop there. At NetherRealm, we always want to make games that are fun, challenging and innovative. We strive to give players a level of control that makes playing our games a truly personal experience. For that reason, we have introduced a brand new Gear System, allowing players to build their own version of Superman, their Batman and ultimately, their Injustice Universe.

The Gear System uses RPG-like mechanics to reward you with loot drops every time you play the game. With each loot drop, you will earn character-specific gear to outfit and power up your roster – changing not only the look of each character, but your fight strategy and your personal approach to every match. As you gear up your characters, you’re building a roster of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains that reflects your choices, and your preferences, which can be vastly different than your opponents. A few play sessions in, you can expect your Aquaman to look and play different than anyone else’s Aquaman you may come across.

And of course we’re going to continue to tell the epic story of the Injustice Universe. When last we saw them, Superman was imprisoned in a Red Sun prison cell, while Batman was continuing the good fight against the forces that would see Superman’s tyranny back in power. Where do we go from here? And what new characters will join the fight? Of course you’ll have to play the game to find out. And we can’t wait for you to get your hands on this game. We’re excited to see your vision come to life on screen.
Stay tuned! We’ll continue to drop information as we lead up to our launch in 2017."

Pre-announcement rumours:

So, there’s been some rumours looming about, and recently this happened:

Maybe this means Injustice 2 will be announced at E3 this year.

Personally, I’d like that. I liked the first Injustice and I’d love to see a sequal. I just hope Nightwing and Catwoman is in it as playable characters, and that they look Arkham Knight inspired or have skins from that game. ^^

Update:
So, Ed Boon just posted this:

While I’d prefer MKXI or another Kombat Pack for MKX or perhaps Shaolin Monks 2, Injustce 2 would be okay as well.

I too would prefer a more Arkham inspired art design. I think they were in the neighborhood of that in the last game for some characters, but not that close overall.

I just hope the gameplay is a bit less twitchy and they leave the gimmicks like that whole wagering thing out. Let the gameplay stand on its own two feet.

Netherrealm Studios evolved ALOT through MK9>>Injustice>>MKX, so I have no doubt the gameplay in Injustice 2 will reflect that. ^^

Also, I cannot stress enough how much I loved Nightwing’s Arkham Knight look. It was perfect, imo.

I really enjoyed Injustice. It had some terrific visuals and decent gameplay. If they keep the rollback netcode they have put in MKX this is a no brainer.

I hope Starfire is in it. Darkseid too. Oh and Spawn as a guest character  Those would be my 3 mains lol

Her, Beast Boy and Blue Beetle would all be awesome additions! Teen Titans GO!
Would also love to have Poison Ivy in the game.

Darkseid or bust.

I hope this company goes bankrupt. After the PC fiasco, they have no more goodwill left with me. They’ve consistently been ■■■■■■, but MKX was a new low.

They won’t.
PC was indeed a fiasco, but the console sales were really good.
Let this be a lesson learned though… don’t buy WB games for PC.

This is a discussion for another topic though, so I ask that you focus on Injustice 2. ^^
Feel free to make a new thread about the topic though. <3

Considering that Darkseid, Static Shock, and others received Injustice redesigns as playable characters in the Injustice mobile game, I think it is a sure shot that at least Darkseid will make an appearance.

They probably will. Injustice was pretty heavy with costume DLC. It won’t be his standard outfit, but odds are there will be an Arkham skin pack.

I just cant wait for another Netherrealm fighter with hold back to block

Yeah after they screwed over their pc players im not supporting them anymore. They could revolutionize the entire fighting game genre and i won’t buy.

I’ll end it at this comment. I don’t need to kick a dead horse, but I do think it is relevant that people know what kind of company NRS is.

They are unethical and treated a not insignificant portion of their user base very badly. The didn’t even even issue an apology as they took the PC money and ran. That’s to say nothing about their overt promises to the PC crowd on their various streams.

Their treatment of MKX destroyed whatever faith I had in that they could balance their game, though admittedly I should have lost faith in their balance at MK9 or Injustice.

They had one of the most egregious OS bugs that literally seeped into every facet of the game until it was balanced months later.

Their memory leak that plagued the game for months making some stages unplayable. Add to that ■■■■■■ netcode (I have no idea how it is since they implemented rollback), and the game was almost completely unplayable for many people online.

They are a terrible company with good IPs and fantastic guest characters. People should feel free to purchase their games, but someone has to rain on the parade so newer people know the shitshow that they are potentially getting into.

I want them!

I want Killer Croc, Static shock, Star-fire, Two-Face, Grifter & Spawn

Oh God. An Injustice version of Daffy Duck. Its a combination of something I want to see and something I’m petrified of. :head_bandage:

Just remember that NRS makes the game and WB publishes it. So it’s not quite so simple to identify whose fault the PC version is. They also screwed the last gen hardware owners by saying they would release a version for 360 and PS3 and then cancelling it at the 11th hour.

I havent play Injustice much…I have it on PS4 and WiiU…but what I did play in story mode I really enjoyed!
