The fans voted Joanna dark after rash which would make sense ppl already voted on banjo master chief etc ect and those did not get high votes for a reason

That is awesome! Now I have to dig up his twitter post :grinning:

I know Phil Spencer talked about limiting (or eliminating) licensing costs with stuff like this but still…

If the last S3 character was Scorpion, straight from Netherrealm, that’d be so epic and forshadow a true MK vs KI down the line. All hype.

I’d sorta say Lara Croft, but that’s basically Orchid so probably never.

Great idea (Otogi). Been a while since I’ve thought about that game, but the design could work.

Love the Jack of Blades idea though! Man would he look cool in KI.

Wouldn’t mind seeing a character from Kakuto Chojin. Mediocre game, but I dug some of the character designs back then. Of course, this would likely never happen.

I think something from Halo is a good possibility. It could be Master Chief, the Arbiter, or maybe a Brute. I can see a Brute as a high damage/command grab character that is similar to Thunder. Plus a Gravity Hammer for a launcher would be insane.

If IG is sticking with the Rare theme, then Joanna Dark or Banjoe-Kazooie would be cool. I can’t really picture Joanna’s move set, but Banjoe-Kazooie’s is very clear in my head.

Let’s not forget about a potential Mortal Kombat guest character too. The popular choice would obviously be Scorpion and he would fit in the KI world, but I feel he’s too overrated (maybe it’s just me). I would personally like to Raiden. I think he fits just as well as Scorpion and KI doesn’t have a character that deals with lightening.

To be honest I didn’t think anyone at MS would have even known they had another fighting game.

I’d like to see The Panther King from Conkers Bad Fur day as a brawler/grappler fighter. Or someone from the Gears universe as something similar, maybe a Theron Guard or RAAM.

Why does everyone forget Skorge. He had a darn Chainsaw Staff.

I really want a Halo character. I want a Spartan, but an Elite does seem to fit better i think. Maybe they could add a cool Master Chief skin for Fulgore?

Sort of want to see a brute more. Like Tarturus from Halo 2 with his gravity hammer.

I’d really rather not see this game go down the road of adding too many guest characters. KI’s just started to mould its own identity after nearly 2 decades in the dark and peppering guests all over season 3 would dilute that, I feel. That said, I’d love to see:

Edgar from Phantom Dust - this would be an inspired choice, considering what MS have said recently about the Phantom Dust reboot being cancelled but that the IP is still being worked on in some capacity (I can’t find the exact quote, maybe someone can help me out). He’s a cool character and there’s a lot of potential for a unique moveset there.

Jo Dark - she’s very similar to Orchid aesthetically, personally I’d only like to see her if she was done in the style of the original PD - not the terrible cartoonish design of PD Zero. I really think her moveset could be something special though. Just thinking about the weapons from the first PD - she could have her scoped Falcon 2 as a ranged projectile, the Laptop Gun could be thrown in different positions on-screen as a setup/trap option… maybe she could use the RCP-120 for limited cloaking capability as a throwback to oldschool Cinder? And the Slayer guided missiles… Lot of options there.

I DON’T want to see:

Anyone from Halo or Gears, especially someone cookie-cutter like Marcus Fenix or Skorge. Terrible, 1-dimensional characters with little to no potential for interesting movesets really shouldn’t have any place in KI. Personally I bought an Xbox One IN SPITE of my dislike for these MS franchises, and if they became a part of KI I’d have a real hard time getting past it.

Banjo-Kazooie or Conker. Are people really serious when they ask for this? Come on. If there’s a sure-fire way to ruin the mood and atmosphere that MS and DH/IG have built for KI, it’s this.

Scorpion or anyone from MK. Never mind the fact that the two games play nothing alike, and that he’s an overused, boring character, Scorpion’s moveset would have to be drastically altered for him to fit in the KI system. The only reason to add him to KI would be to get some extra $$$ from casual fans, and that’s not a good enough reason for me.

As an aside, guest characters in fighting games are typically done very badly. Soul Calibur is notorious for diluting its cast with flavour-of-the-month guest characters that add little to the game, and Mortal Kombat’s guests have been nothing special at best, and downright immersion-breaking at worst (thinking about running into Freddy Krueger etc while playing a character’s Arcade mode). If MS and IG really plan to do this, I hope they’ve thought it through and aren’t just adding guests because they can.

TL;DR I think guest characters should only be added to KI if they’re unique and there’s some potential there for an interesting and varied moveset (Edgar from Phantom Dust, Jo Dark), and not because of fan pandering (Banjo, Conker) or commercial reasons (Halo/Gears characters). Also, I want KI to continue to forge its own niche in FGs and create new and interesting storylines for its characters, not become Xbox All-Stars.

While I agree on the Banjo and Conker I will say that the tone of KI is already pretty cheesy. Just looks at most of the stage ultras or even Aganos win pose. I wish the game would go back to the dark ominous tone of the original games.

Edgar from Phantom Dust would be a huge boost to that direction seeing as how Phantom Dust has a similar dark tone. I really love Micks work on the Phantom Dust trailer. The music would be a perfect fit for a Phantom Dust stage in KI.

Also, magic is constantly brought up in KI but none of the in game characters really use it besides Kan Ra but those are more curses.

I think Joanna Dark would be a poor choice of a guest character. The franchise has been dead for so long and there isn’t any new game on the horizon. I don’t even know what Phantom Dust is. I really think picking games from these lesser known Rare titles like Phantom or Kameo or whatever would be an odd choice.

But I can understand how those ideas would be popular here. Most of those in the forums are pretty old school. Which in some ways is what it really comes down to. Do guest characters get added in as cool throwbacks for the KI community already playing the game. Or do you try adding mainstream guests to get new non fighting game blood interested.

Personally I think its a no brainer. I want GoW and Halo characters galore and would be elated if that happened. Halo 4 sold over 9 million. GoW sells sever million i think. So many FPS kids would take notice if KI had a bunch of Xbox guest chars i think. Which I would love, I don’t like KI’s story at all.

I want Joanna Dark to be a mix of Cassie Cage and Erron Black on Killer Instinct. Most likely, guests had their stories on their on. Not really related with the game itself. See MKX guests Jason and Predator. Well Jason killed Liu-Kang but its lame. Liu Kang always die anyway, Their story don’t affect the game at all. We don’t even know if KI guests will have some sort of story. But a gunslinger girl on KI is sexy and dope at the same time.

And that reaper! OMG! Looks like a brand new character for season 3. I like it.

I totally forgot Kameo was a thing. I remember playing that game at a Best Buy somewhere. It would be really interesting to see that come up again.

That is why a Kameo guest character would be a bad choice. Most people have forgotten it.

I don’t know. I kinda wanna see how transforming like she does would work. Then again, we have ARIA.

The arbiter because out of all the big characters in Halo, He is capable of fighting up-close with a sword.
