After GARGOS... Who's Next...?

There’s a good chance that number 7 is access denied, and 8 has to be eyedol.

I prefer new characters than guest characters… AND NO MORE EYEDOL!!!

If Eyedol season 4 please- new characters wanted

There’s no way they don’t show [REDACTED] at E3. It just makes too much sense promotion-wise, which lends itself to [REDACTED] being character 7. The only way [REDACTED] is character 8 is if both of the remaining characters are announced at E3.

I tend to doubt that’ll happen, as that goes against the monthly format and gives character eight a very long lead out time from announcement to delivery.

I’m hoping we see [REDACTED] announce trailer and actual gameplay footage. Perhaps even a move breakdown, though that’d be pretty early for that. I’m really hoping we get season 4 confirmation at E3 as well.

If that’s the case, then I could easily see Eydol being the S4 big bad and perhaps Eagle, a Kara-like Ultratech agent and the wise sage from KI Gold being the more familiar fan service characters in the next season.

If it goes down like that, I could easily see another guest as character eight in season three. The boss and the story will seemingly be out before character’s seven and eight. To me, that says they can do this because neither has anything to do with the story. My guess is Joanna Dark.

don’t get your hopes on a season 4 confirmation before season 3 is finished.
on E3, i guess they show shadow lords, what the new MP mode is and the 7th character.

I’m telling y’all. There isn’t gonna be a season 4. I really feel that season 3 is it. There maybe a community fund or two down the road, but I wouldn’t bet on a season 4. 26 maybe 27 if we get another community funded character, is the perfect size roster for ki. It’s been said before that the game was always envisioned as a 3 season game. I think “you know who” is number 7 and like I said before, either eyedol or a new character will be number 8. If eyedol doesn’t end up being number 8 then he’ll be a community fund. But I really don’t see why so many people are already talking about a season 4.

Can you tell me where you heard that KI was “always envisioned as a 3 season game?” I’ve been following this game pretty closely since it was announced at E3 and I’ve never heard a magical number put on the season amount that I can recall.

To be clear, I’m NOT calling you a liar or anything like that. It just seems as though you’ve heard something that I haven’t, so I was wondering if you had some sort of reference, official or unofficial, that you could provide.

I’ve always read that they want KI to be a platform and I don’t recall them putting some sort of limit on how long that platform would last.

Ken lobb was interviewed shortly after season 1 launched and he said that since its inception it was envisioned as a 3 season game. I’ll try and find the video. I’m sure others know what I’m talking about. That doesn’t mean there won’t be either. Just what he said.

It might not have been ken lobb. It may have been that James Goddard guy. I’m trying hard to remember. It was an interview at some show or conference or something and it was when he was talking about " cherry picking" characters and stuff.

Thanks! No need to search for it. I’ll try and see if I can find it myself. I just wasn’t sure where you’d heard that from.

I don’t remember anyone officially saying it will be a three season game. But the price and roster size it just make sense.

Wait till the trailer?

The price? I’d have to think that if there were a demand for more seasons that they’d make more seasons. As for the roster size, we’ll be at 26 after this season is complete (27 if we get a bonus character, which no one has even remotely hinted at yet). Seems like a lot of fighters go well in to the 30’s in terms of roster size:

MKX: 33 (including DLC, with another Kombat Pack being hinted at).
USF4: 44
Tekken 7: 29 (and that’s prior to stateside release, where they could easily bring out more DLC)
Smash Wii-U: 53 (including DLC and unlockable characters)
Injustice: 29
UMvC3: 52
Mortal Kombat 2011: 32 (including DLC and Kratos on PS3)
Street Fighter X Tekken: 55
Tekken Tag 2: 59
Pokken Tournament: 16
King of Fighter XIV: 50
Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-: 23
Soul Calibur 5: 29

Apologies if these numbers aren’t accurate. I tried to find current info on these. Also, these are just the recent games in the genre that sprung to mind.

The average character county between those games is 39. Now if you want to take out “versus” titles, tag titles and Smash, that number drops to 32. If we finish this season at 26 characters, I could see another season with six to eight characters being a great idea and a great number to end on.

Oh, and PS on that: I wasn’t trying to disprove your opinion with numbers or anything like that. Obviously you can’t disprove an opinion lol. If you think 26-27 is a good number, I totally respect that.

I was just trying to point out that within the genre, there’s a pretty wide variety in terms of roster size and that there’s really no normal number a game should have by any standards beyond our own personal preference. I think that one more season would give us a good number. Others might think that two or even four more seasons would give them a good number and some might just want them to keep on going.
