Well, at the very least we know two things: Rukari is going to Gamescom and Crackdown 3’s been delayed until Spring 2018. The fact that they put Age of Empires in that article and not Crackdown tells me that the likelihood of that game having a huge presence at Gamescom seems relatively remote. Granted, it’s probably because they wanted to mention games that were comign out this year, but still.
I think the chances of 3.9 having anything to do with Gamescom are also remote, unless we’re talking about the Ultimates. Maybe they show Glacius’ Ultimate? I’m obviously no MS executive, but that seems like an odd thing to send Rukari to Germany for, unless it’s in conjunction with other KI related announcements.
I mean sure, they could announce that KI is coming to Steam on XX/XX/2017 and tell us about how $X thousands of dollars are going toward some tournaments, but again, is all of that really “stage announcement” type stuff? Even when combined, announcing the Steam release date, how much is going to a tournament or two and showing Glacius’ Ultimate… I dunno. That seems kinda light.
Like why go to a big games show to announce that a game’s going to be downloadable via another means and some money’s going to tournaments? You compare that to Xbox One X and playable Forza 7 and what not and yeah, if they’re groping for stuff to announce, I suppose, sure, it’s “stuff,” but for an E3 type event?
Again, it’s ENTIRELY possible and if that’s what they choose to do with KI at Gamescom 2017, so be it. It’s also possible that I’m wrong about Crackdown 3 and they take a “the game’s delayed, but we still have a lot to show off while you wait” approach.
But while I’m DEFINITELY not getting my hopes up, it kinda seems like to me that if you’re going to send KI’s Community Manager to Germany, you’re likely going to have something more substantial to talk about with KI than a steam port, an ultimate and tourney stuff (or more skins or whatever for that matter). Maybe they’ll announce a new guest character like Joanna Dark or another group of downloadable characters, maybe it’s season 4, maybe it’s a new game. Who knows.
Either way, I’m excited for the event, still not expecting a lot with regards to KI, but still hoping for the best, as I’d love to see more of this game.

Season 3 was announced at a Gamescom and Rash was a playable free beta type of thing. I kind of hope it happens this time as well.

Agree 100%! If it were Joanna Dark, that’d be awesome. Or any guest really. Or a new KI character. I don’t seem to be overly choosy on this lol. 
On a side note:
Per the link below, the ReCore announcement is the Definitive Edition.
So yeah, a definitive edition with new content gets is either leaked or soft-announced prior to the Gamescom show/thing they’re putting on this Sunday. Now, if they just put it out there because it was already leaked, then I suppose that’s one thing, but if they just put this out because they didn’t think it was something to announce at their show?
Kinda lends credence to the idea that IF (and that’s a big “if”) they do anything KI related at Gamescom, it likely won’t be to announce that it’s on Steam or they’re putting some more money toward tourneys. That’s TOTAL speculation on my part obviously, but if ReCore’s news is theoretically not big enough for their show, then I’d have to think KI would need something bigger than these two things and Glacius’ ultimate to warrant screen time at Gamescom.

I hope for some news about Crackdown 3. That’s one of the games I’ve been interested in a while, but everytime I try and get close, it eludes me by delaying itself…

Those mystery/hints/teases are getting old…
Well, that’s kind of normal on social media when it comes to the gaming industry, so we’re gonna have to live with it.
I wish we got as many teases as we did earlier in the game’s life, but oh well.

I’d love to see something KI related, Season 4 would be the dream and new stages/QoL improvements would make me happy.
I Wouldn’t be surprised if the Steam info doesn’t make an appearance though. Seeing as its an Xbox livestream, it would be a bit odd to celebrate a release on a different platform.

I came in right after whatever they were doing with Crackdown 3. So I didn’t see anything for KI. What was the announcement?

Nothing. They were talking about only Xbox One X console, custom controller, new game and blah blah blah blah.

Ah well. There was the Jurassic World: Evolution announcement. Happy to see a proper successor to Operation Genesis
Otherwise it was all just trailers for games we’ve already seen, a few crossplay announcements, and some console preorder bundles. Nothing special.
