3.9 is coming! Any hopes for Gamescom?

Well, the 4K update for Killer Instinct was mentioned… And that’s it for the moment. :disappointed_relieved:

While not KI related they announced that they were doing crossplay for Xbox, Windows 10, and Steam for a game (forgot which game it was) but that gives the steam version of KI some crossplay hope.

Well, I saw nothing in the video that was even remotely exciting and most of it wasn’t even news. A Minecraft themed console? Yay…

I think anyone expecting much in the way of a KI announcement is going to be sorely disappointed.

At least this is coming soon!

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again:

I. WANT. THAT. SHIRT.

Honestly I think the game isn’t getting more updates other than the odd balance patch from here on out

Which makes sense, it is a bit dated now, and the budget for it seems to be at this stage stretched, well, enough to make expansion of the game (season 4) not seem worth it. I don’t think they will be able to pull a significant amount of new players to the game, especially when you are competing against the newer games ie. marvel infinite and dbz fighters.

Rise of nations. But yeah, this says to me that they are definitely trying to make it cross play

What would say to me that they were trying to make it cross play is if they said that it was going to be cross play.

I know this makes me sound bitter and picky, but I am looking at the level of information being shared in the MS gamescom stream and there is very little there that is special and all of it is essentially already known. So why would KI cross play be held so tightly to the vest for a super special gamescom reveal? So super special that it doesn’t even make the A-reel (which includes a pre-taped “unboximg” video with major Nelson that doesn’t have any unboxing and is just him wearing white gloves and saying “world’s most powerful console” ten times).

I really think people are building up expectations beyond what MS is planning to deliver.

Not surprised ms didn’t really show anything at gamescom. This current version of ki isn’t a major focus atm. After the steam release that’s likely it for this ki

They didn’t do any KI announcements on the A-reel at e3, why would they here? Their strategy seems pretty obvious to me. Spread it out over the course of the event. I guess if you think that is a poor strategy that’s your opinion, and you might be right. I don’t know.

I don’t understand why they would announce this before gamescom either. The fact it is coming to steam is already under the radar, so they had no reason to announce anymore when no one is listening. Furthermore years of following gaming has taught me, and I think publishers/developers, that promising something only to not be able to deliver it is awful. I said it convinced me they were TRYING to make cross play work, doesn’t mean it will. I wouldn’t want them to say a word unless it is guaranteed to happen. I’m not sure why people think it would be better for them to say something along the lines of “we hope to.”

I didn’t catch much at all, but are they still blabbing about “uncompromised 4K” or have they finally toned it back to just saying most powerful console?

It’s a perfectly fine strategy for MS but it’s a pretty poor strategy for KI, in my opinion. But that is nothing new. KI was resurrected to plug a hole in the Xbox One launch lineup and everything they have done makes it clear that KI is here to serve the Xbox brand first and foremost not to be cultivated into a larger franchise. I’m okay with that. But stop tweeting out how KI is headed to gamescom if they aren’t going to say anything there.

What was the big KI E3 announcement? Oh yeah, that it would get a 4k HDR upgrade for free (I would hope it was free since they already have all the 4K assets on the PC version which doesn’t charge people extra to play at 4K) and that KI is coming to Steam at an undisclosed date with undisclosed features. I guess also that the character they had been selling for two weeks would be free (sort of, for most players once they figured out how to make it work).

If they have nothing to say then I agree with you there is no reason to announce it before gamescom. But just like E3 they build up as if there will be something to announce and then announce nothing. I don’t think they should have announced the Steam port before they could actually tell us something about the Steam port. They take these positive things and turn them into an exercise in frustration.

And then people are one here fantasizing about season 4 announcements, sequels, new guest characters etc. Building up a lot of unrealistic hype for what is almost certainly going to be a nothing burger with a fake applause track running over top people whooping about how excited they are for a FREE 4K upgrade (with the purchase of a $500 console).

None of this is intended to read as an argument with you. I’m just having a bit of a rant so I hope it doesn’t come across as personal.

I don’t think Major Nelson said “Uncompromised 4k” one time and actually I think the only time he said 4k at all was when he described the HDMI cable as 4k capable. But I didn’t see the first 15-20 minutes of the show so maybe they are still beating that drum elsewhere.

Speaking of the Major Nelson’s unboxing, was I the only one who noticed all of the little white fuzzies that his Mickey Mouse gloves left all over the Xbox One X? That drove me absolutely nuts!

Think of it this way, we’ve got the Glacius Ultimate on Monday, the Monster Ultimate Pack on Tuesday, the 3.9 patch/video, & ??? from Gamescom (which lasts all week). Who knows? Maybe there’s more news on the way- I’m staying positive so far.

This may PO some people and I do apologize but I doubt it is a sequel. It mgith be season 4 or more ultimates but we do not know for sure.

It’s too soon to Even have a sequel anyway.

While I hope it’s a season4 I can see why folks wanna sequel but I wouldn’t wanna clamore so quickly for it for a few reasons:

1- Your favorite character is likely not coming back in the sequel.

2- The character that does come back may look even further from their original look.

A few things to consider there but that’s just my thoughts on it.

Whatever announcement they make if it’s gonna be big at all will be of interest. we just got Eagle a couple months ago you gonna throw all that way for whatever the reasons you have for a sequel?

I still think it’s too soon to even worry about a sequel, I say give it a year before we start thinking about it.

My favourite character is Orchid.
I’m sure she’ll be in the sequel.

No, You’ll find that games don’t spontaneously combust when a newer iteration comes out.

Also I don’t see Eagle getting cut…

Your #1 is exactly the reason I dont want a sequel for at least 2 years or so. I think we can take that time to enjoy a final version of our game and to build our community. Like you said, Eagle just came out not too long ago. I do want ultimates (and justice) for all though! I get to be super hype come Tuesday with Aganos’s ultimate, and I think each character deserves an ultimate as well. We gotta share the love!
