Xbox One Fightstick Windows 10 Update

Why? What if they enjoy the stick they currently have. Emotional attachments?

Mod the pcb rock candy controller. Yall are to afraid if messing with these sticks my atrox has been tossed across the room lol

We shouldn’t have to, especially considering all other Xbox controllers already just work on PC.

I’ve modded and messed with my Razer Atrox’s buttons/plungers, swapped out the stick gate, changed the art cover. I will not do any modding to the PCB, I will not be soldering a device that is worth up to 200 bucks for a feature that should already be standard.

You keep mentioning replacing it with a Xbox 360 Razer Atrox, I already had one of those. It went down Momochi at EVO 2015 final style, Razer themselves couldn’t replace it under warranty due to how rare it is. I will not buy a refurbished one as I don’t trust their reliability anymore after the last one.

Thank you for all of your good advice. You can stop now. The thread is not ā€œhow do I get a stick to work on PC, what are my options?ā€ The thread is about the Xbox One fightstick drivers for Windows 10.

For whatever reason, MS chose to make the Xbox One fightstick - unique among all the world’s fightstick controllers as far as I can tell - a special entity, completely separate from the ā€œXbox controller.ā€ This one decision, which is completely inexplicable to essentially everyone who will talk about it (because MS is not talking about it) has caused the stick to be incompatible with games on Xbox One unless they specifically include support for it. Remember when DoA launched on X1 without fightstick support - and everyone acted like that was just screwy Team Ninja messing it up with their ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  low budget game. But the truth is, on X1 (and now PC!) this is the only controller in the universe that requires a special invitation to work with your game. It is incompatible with backward compatible 360 games, unless they specifically support it. It has been incompatible with Win 10, up until now. It is still, however, only compatible with Windows 10 games that specifically include support for it. This is insane. It means none of your legacy fighting games will work with the Xbox One fightstick. Have an old copy of SF IV? Xbox One fightstick won’t work. And it will never work because why the hell would Capcom go back and add code to SF IV? Want to use your stick for Galaga? No way are they going to open up their game and insert new code to add support for Xbox One fightsticks.

There’s no question that if you are in the market for a fightstick, even for one to use on Xbox One, the Xbox One fightstick is the worst possible choice you can make. A pad hack is infinitely more useful. A PS3 controller (which will work on PS3 and PS4 at this point) with a Brooks adapter is cheaper. And the Brooks PS3-Xbox One adapter actually makes it look like a ā€œrealā€ Xbox One controller so it works on PC too (or any Xbox One game you feel like using it with).

It’s borderline irresponsible for MS to keep licensing the sale of Xbox One fightsticks. Then, to top it off, KI launches on PC with a post it note on the home screen saying ā€œsupport coming soon for X1 sticks!ā€ And after 4+ months, they finally update Win 10 only so the KI devs can come back with ā€œbut oops, we forgot to code in specific support for X1 fightsticks into KI.ā€ Am I missing something? Is this a surprise? And we are talking about a controller driver here, not rewriting the code for the operating system.

The whole thing is absolutely maddening and I wish I knew who was responsible so I could scream at them until my head explodes. I would really love to hear any sort of reasoning - even bad inexcusable reasoning, as to why this decision was made. Just so I could stop agonizing over how just plain dumb it is. We’re not talking about a complex device here - it’s not a fishing rod or a steering wheel or a light gun. It’s a D-pad with 8 buttons (10 if you count start and select). :hushed::cold_sweat::scream::rage::anger_right:

Because he is a regular.

Brutal, didn’t know how long this problem was going on for. Tried to hook up my Atrox a few days ago to find it not responding on my PC. It’s bad enough that this is even an issue but that it has been happening for two years is just shameful.

I cant remember the details but markman from madcats were saying the pcbs Microsoft gave them work far different then 360 and even the final version of the xbox one controller i can’t remember the technical term but thats why. I know alot of you dont know or want to tamper with the stick but pad hacking with a mkx pad with a toggle switch is cheap and effective you basically gut rhe old pcb

Even paradise arcade i believe has brooks board alls soddered up so all you gotta do is slide in some wires mount the pcb and have a 5 in 1 console stick

I know i know i dont wanna mess with a 200 dollar stick but a dead monkey could install the sodderless brooks board

Why wait for ms

What you fail to realize is in doing this mod you increase the value of Your stick if your ever to sell it. Literally just ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  tight the wires

Stop being ignorant and find a solituon use a solution obviously what you want aint going to happen why keep waiting why not use this giant investment you made instead of waiting and waiting

You cant break a fightstick to point it dont work unless you ā– ā– ā– ā–  up the micro switch in a joysick evem then 5 min fix

I swear some yall just have no will to find a solution. Should of done research on fightsticks for pc before you bought they been like this for 3 years

Madcatz did release ps4 te2+ and tes+ drivers to support sfv on pc same drivee friend uses to play ki with no 3rd party

I actually asked Markman about this ages ago on Twitter and he pointed me back to MS saying they were responsible for drivers. I suspect this is part of the ā€œlock it down and control it!ā€ licensing philosophy that MS seems to have in regards to their controllers. I’m sure they consider it a great success, since they have cornered the controller market on Xbox One, and are selling $70 custom colors and $150 ā€œeliteā€ controllers. Somebody probably got a promotion out of it.

If you follow me on these boards you know I’m a pretty pro-corporate happy consumer. I am sympathetic to money making schemes and paid DLC and pretty much any kind of junk they want to throw at me. I am all digital, and I’m probably one of ten people in the world who didn’t care at all about MS’s attempts to prevent you from buying used discs. But of all the things MS has done related to Xbox One the fightstick fiasco is the one that makes me nuts. I preordered a KI TE2 before the Xbox One even came out, and as a piece of hardware I love it. But if I knew then what I know now I absolutely would not have bought one. I can’t recommend that anyone get an Xbox One fightstick - and that makes me sad.

And @Dism3mbermenT no one is saying that you’re wrong. It’s just that people are expressing their frustration at MS for messing this up - not looking for alternative ways to address the issue. I have two PS3 sticks with brooks adapters, I have a Titan One adapter and a Mayflash adapter, as well as an original MadCatz 360 TE stick (and actually, two Hori 360 sticks as well). I can play the game nine ways to Sunday and I may try to mod a stick just for fun with a padhack PCB at some point. But that’s actually not the point. I would have happily bought a second TE2 just to have an awesome easy to mod stick for my brother to use when he comes over, but the thing has LESS utility on X1 than any other stick using an adapter. I was actually using my Titan One on MY XBOX ONE STICK just to use it to play XBOX ONE games on XBOX ONE! How can anyone look at that and not realize that this is jacked up?

Anyway, I’m done here. I am confident that none of the poor devs reading this thread have any say in how MS manages their controllers. Virtual screaming in here reminds me of an old band director I knew who would ream out the people who showed up on time because other people were late - when the late people weren’t even there to take the abuse. It doesn’t do any good and it wastes time I could spend doing other things. I hope they get the Xbox One fightsticks working on PC so that people who need them can actually enjoy the game that way. But the chances of them somehow ā€œundoingā€ the idiocy that is the Xbox One fightstick are less than zero.

It does suck but thats why i went ahead and modded my atrox with a hori fighting commander 4 so i can use fightcade on my pc. I recently installed a brooks board and it easy easy as sliding in a wire and screwing it tight.

I get not wanting to not wreck a 300 dollar device with shoryuken forums and modders damm newr every corner of every state i said why not. If a company aint gunna give me a solution I’ll make my own.

Just frustrates me people are unwilling to use a solution given to them and say no its ms fault i shouldnt have to. Yeah thats true but waiting aint going to get you know where

You are still missing the point. They know alternative solutions exist. That isn’t the point though. The point is that they shoudn’t have to do a different solution. It should just work.

Well even on the atrox website it cleary states it dont work on pc. First thing i noticed when i bought mine. In fact i researched xbox one sticks for a month before i bought

I do really want Microsoft to correct this issue. I mean they almost had it working with 6 face buttons. I’m sure it isn’t hard to change the driver to use buttons over triggers. Since it can see it’s an XB1 stick and not a controller, but who knows the reason.

I am curious though. The mod that’s posted in that video, how much does it retail for? I’m in Canada and would love to just say the heck with it and buy a TE2 or TE2+ PS3/PS4 stick (mostly for GG Xrd -Revelator & PC), but with the CAD conversion price on these sticks is simply nuts now.

Its because the triggers are not the same as 360s analog or something to technical to remember…markman talked about but i can’t think of where i read it

I’ll shoot you a pm

Ok nice solution. But my fightstick is still on warranty. Also the the kit, Ez Mod + Brook Universal Fighting Board is $119.98. When a Brook Super Converter is $34.95 doing the same and easier to install. Difference is we get it to work on various platforms. But for me i only want it to work on my PC. So if i wanna spend some money to make it work, the Brook Super Converter will be the best solution.
