cuz he looks dumb and uninteresting… it was too goofy even for the 90’s
Okay first of all, thank you for correcting me about Shadow Jago’s existence.
However, I would like to point out that while some people will consider Eyedol’s design o be ridicules, it is unique among the cast. and as I said before: a poor design, poor presentation didn’t stop Kim Wu, Maya, or Tusk form returning in this game. and diehard old-school fans have been complaining about this stuff for awhile. Do you think they would stop talking about how much some of them hate this new KI now? its not going to work.
(by the way to all of the Kim Wu, Tusk and Maya fans, I 'am by no means saying the KI-2 versions of these three are bad, but I’ve heard form a lot of people who didn’t like the old designs at the time)
Also lets not forget that some of the haters also hate it when people disagree with them. The people who want Eyedol also have a right to say that they want Eyedol in.
and as far as I know,. It’d be more unique than a shadow character. Also, people who hate a certain character will also go into a support thread and talk about how much they hate said character and vice versa. forum goers are people and people cannot be controlled. Its goanna happen either way.
Forgetting Eyedol is like abandoning a child. They made him… Apparently they hate him too.
You cant just forget the child eyedol like that ya know ![]()
I honestly don’t see why people are so worked up and even concerned about some of things the OG KI fans would say.
People said the exact same stuff about the new looks of Jago, Orchid, Sabrewulf ect.
There is plenty of design for him. He should be a slow lumbering guard breaking character. Have him have a mechanic where he can stun people like street fighter has. Not stagger, stun bar on hit and on block. Which leads to a free setup. It would be similar to building spin speed for Fulgore except he is building up to a stun. So he would be rushdown like Wulf and TJ but be slower and a power hitter like tusk. So it would make continuously blocking him risky business.
■■■■, that SF stun idea is FANTASTIC. That would be something new in KI fighting system.
Now what about the weaknesses to keep him balanced?
Only if he gets a nice, crisp black suit with a purple pocket square and matching choke-em-out murder gloves. Classy… sexy… mmmmmmmm
Also shades… double-headed chicks dig the shades…
The fact that he would be slow like Raam or Aganos. I was more or less covering a design idea since it was claimed “everything has been done” not so much in the process of balancing. But still it wouldn’t be instant stun. Has to build up a dizzy meter basically so it isn’t an end all be all type mechanic. Mechanic only would apply in neutral. Throws, splats, blocked and hits would increase the dizzy meter. It won’t deplete in combo but only a heavy would increase it in combo maybe, or none at all. Since it is a theoretical mechanic.
I just wanna go hamm with a club that doesn’t disappear after 3 hits! Dizzy my opponent then happy gilmore them with his classic charge swing
that is all he needs! And maybe some footsie normals.
His ability to dizzy opponent could be his Instinct - heavy club normals and specials stun opponent at cost of Instinct similar how Tusk loses his Instinct faster for canceling special into special. And of course those moves would be really slow for sake of balance.
If it is exclusive to instinct, I don’t think they should be slower. You would need to be in the advantageous position already before using instinct to get something out of it. I still lean toward the idea of always having that stun meter and his instinct just increasing the threshhold making all moves that build stun build additional stun on hit and block. And while in instinct give him a damage boost on his first move landed on stunned opponents. That way his mechanic is there, and is amplified with his instinct. Granted I think it should still take a little while to stun normally say have it hold the stun meter spot for a second or 2 then deplete and have hits generate a base value out of 100. When the guage is at 100 the next hit stuns them based on the strength used for a short duration. Lights could build 1-2 stun mediums 3-5 heavies 7-10 throws 15 and specials 15. All theory of course. The more aggressive the more chance for stun. Wall splats could be 20 stun and anything followed off a splat would do 75% less stun value for sake of wall splats not being super stun. Counter hits could deal an additional 25% stun. But I would say enough theory crafting. I would definitely love to see this concept in a character anyways whether Eyedol or another. But I do feel it would suit him being the overpowering demon he was in the first game.
Well, it could work in balance.
huh. i stand corrected.
I don’t get why cant we explain his lore as he was a mighty warrior in ancient times a leader of massive armies let’s say a conqueror. He could not be killed or stopped so Then he was cursed to look like a freak that no one would respect or follow. His army and most loyal servants ran from him, and he lost everything. The ultimate punishment by the gods. A once powerful leader and fighter forced to be feared and face the world alone cursed to never be able to rise to power.
Because that’s not exactly the best punishment for someone who is a conqueror…Machiavelli wasn’t the first one to realize that it’s better to be feared than loved. If a conqueror was turned into a giant 2 headed cyclops all he would have to do is destroy a couple villages and say fight for me or die and viola he has an army again.
To be clear, Eyedol’s problem has never been his lore - his lore is actually pretty cool, and would need little retooling in KI 2013. He was a warlord on par with Gargos in the original, and he could be a shadow lord on par with Gargos in this one. The story isn’t why people don’t like him.
Firstly, read @BigBadAndy ‘s post a little above yours. Honestly, it seems like you’re either not reading others’ posts, or you simply refuse to update your arguments to stand up against points made earlier in the thread.
Secondly, you haven’t really argued against my point – you’ve just said “Eyedol can be modernized, like all these other characters were!” The entire point of the paragraph you snipped my quote from is to discuss the takes on Eyedol that I’d accept as modernizations. If we were having this discussion about Tusk, I’d be saying something like “they need to make him into something other than ■■■■■■■ Conan,” which, luckily, happened – Tusk didn’t turn out like Conan at all. If you were trying to suggest that Eyedol could somehow be modernized whilst still remaining anatomically the same and acting like a typical big-bad, then that’d be like saying that Tusk could’ve been modernized in a way that still makes him Conan, which is wrong and didn’t happen.
Finally, the devs could come up with plenty of unique designs without having to resort to Eyedol.
What was the point of saying this? None of this is about rights, at all. To some extent I’ve told people who get too belligerent about wanting Eyedol in the game to be respectful, but that doesn’t pertain to rights at all.
A shadow character would also probably cost a fraction of a unique character’s budget to develop.
Those hating on Shadow Orchid and whatnot would get a better sense of whether Shorchid is a good idea by comparing current KI to current KI + Shorchid, rather than comparing current KI + Shorchid to current KI + fan wishlist item (e.g. stages, ultimates, Eyedol). In fact, think of it like this: if 3 years from now Microsoft announced that no more work were ever to be done on this KI ever again, but that they’d add Shorchid before wrapping up if fans wanted, so that the choice is between KI in its final state and KI in its final state + Shorchid, would you shrug and say, “okay, Shorchid could be cool, let’s have her,” or would you still emphatically reject Shorchid?
eyedol is the last character just add him to the game change him make him look how ever you want too. that’s why we have retros for people who want a faithful look to the character. There really isn’t any reason he shouldn’t be in the game other then the team doesn’t like him outside of that there’s no excuse. If the team is like listen we don’t like him or want to make him then ok done deal. But outside of that there is no reason to not make him. If fans want him that bad make a community fund for him a retro and a stage. This is what eyedol haters don’t get. If there is enough people who want him to easily fund his entire character being put in the game then there’s a zero excuse to not put him in the game. There has also been several art people have posted that prove anyone who says his redesign is impossible or stupid is dead wrong. That red skin version of him like 50 posts up is a spot on perfect look for him.
Ahh!! Gah! Kill the saytr legs please!
Also why is the unstoppable warlord super boss wearing horseshoes? Afraid of chipping some bone on gravel or cement?
