I think this is giving the Sekiro camera too much credit. It would be much more apt to say the camera simply flips out and loses its ■■■■ mind at the worst possible moments ![]()
I’d be curious to see what a formula change would look like. Virtua Fighter (and Tekken for that matter) are in the weird fighting game space of having characters that have SO MANY moves. How do you change them significantly while actually improving both the way they play as well as the gameplay in general? How do you differentiate it from previous installments while actually improving it in a substantial way?
I’m not a VF head, but I’d think b/c of the extreme hiatus the series has been on this would be the perfect time to simply reimagine much of the cast does. No need to throw the baby out with the bath water, but also no reason to feel the need to hew especially close to past VF titles on a move-for-move or string-for-string basis. Do what KI 2013 did - keep the core/spirit of the series alive, but be willing to innovate and adjust as necessary given the current gaming landscape.
For what it’s worth the VF characters in DOA have generally been pretty well received, so the devs can already have an idea of what core ideas to play with and how they shake out in a modern context. Obviously the DOA system is very different from what a new VF would play like, but to my mind that speaks well of the idea that these characters can exist and function in a modern context.
I spend a good lot of time playing Final Fantasy XV but i also take time to play halo 5,KI,and Warface
I’ve been playing StarWars Squadrons. I bought it on Steam so I could play with my flight stick, and also got it on Xbox so my son could play with me. It’s an interesting game in a lot of ways.
It’s a starship flying game (obviously), with a pretty high level of systems control. You have to allocate power between engines and weapons and shields (if your ship has them), in addition to having various load out options.
There’s a dogfight mode that just throws you into a 5v5 scramble but the main mode is a fleet battle. Truthfully it’s a MOBA design (although I haven’t heard the developers describe it that way). It has a sort of unique momentum system where as you get kills you earn points against a “tug of war” style meter. Whichever side wins that tug of war gets the initiative to attack. You start by attacking a couple of light capital ships. If/when you destroy these you move on to the large capital ship which is harder to destroy and which has subsystems (shields, power, targeting) that you can independently destroy to disable aspects of the ships defense. The trick is that attacking these capital ships is tough and generally lose more ships than your opponent which swings the “tug of war” meter back in their favor.
The sides are asymmetrical, with the remnants of the empire using TIE Fighters and the New Republic using X-Y-A wing fighters the Rebels used in the films.
Playing is very fun. Like all competetive on-line games it’s most enjoyable playing with friends and when the match is between evenly skilled opponents. There are times when the opposition is overwhelmingly good and it feels bad to lose a game with hardly any kills. Teamwork is critical as you need some division of labor on your 5 man squad to be successful. This is challenging because unless you bring 5 guys with you, you probably will get a bunch of silent randos. But when we have 3-4 friends together it’s a really great experience.
nice dude always love a good star wars game
I think Squadrons has a pretty nice game design. But there’s no question that people who love Star Wars are going to enjoy the aesthetic. The only issue is the game is pretty challenging so there’s a lot of people who are sort of new to the genre that are complaining about the difficulty. There’s a fleet battle versus Ai, but it’s tough even on easy level.
I guess it’s worth mentioning there’s a reasonably lengthy single player mode that has a pretty well developed story, lots of chatty squad mates and does a good job walking you through the games major control options. It’s not what I would call good practice for playing online though.
even though i don’t have it from your insight it sounds pretty good but i know star wars from the lego games which i liked
but difficult games make them even more fun to learn
Yeah. This one has a bit of a higher barrier because it’s not just individual adjustments. You have to coordinate. If you and your teammates fly one at a time into the opposing capital ship, for example, you will not even get close. But if all five of you go at once then 2-4 of you are probably going to score some hits.
My son is far better than I am as far as attitude. He takes a loss cheerfully, doesn’t complain and just works to get better. He figured out how to exploit the AI fighters and has developed a method to farm the generic background enemies that fly around in order to keep the momentum on our side while wracking up kills. The real AI squadron doesn’t pick up in this and come away from the capital ship to get him. So he’s getting like 30+ AI kills per game, lol.
Anyone try “Song of Horror”?
I’m not even sure what it is. Is it new?
Relatively speaking it is. It’s a horror game like “Resident Evil” with the fixed camera angles. The twist, though, is that you can control over a dozen or so different characters throughout the game’s story, but it has a permadeath system in place, so if you’re not careful, you could end up losing that particular character. The AI in it is viciously unpredictable and reacts to player actions.
Currenlty playing AC Vahalla..its amazing! And Dark anthology LIttle Hope… super cool and scary/ gore story driven…its great!
My son got so into Man of Medan and he counted down the days to Little Hope. We played through the whole thing as a family and he’s gone back and unlocked several of the different endings.
Played alot of Halo MCC and unlocked every piece from Halo 3
I’ve been enjoying this collection Co-Op with my old man all pandemic.
We’re excited to go through Halo 4 together, as it releases on PC today.
I’ve improved alot in multiplayer. I did tings that I could not be competent at doing 12 years ago.
I’m significantly better in Firefight that I used to be, both versions of it. I’m typically the best to second best player on my squad.
