@anon39655210 Not much more guests out there to add anyway, but a new season obviously means new characters, all legacy characters are accounted for, so if a new season has 9 characters and 3 are guests or 2 guests and a Boss, I see no problem at all, I always go back to Rash & Arbiter especially, Rash is one of the most fun characters in all FGC’s at the moment, and Arbiter is extremely popular, even in high level tournaments… So I don’t see what an issue with guests are when they are integrated into the game correctly… at this point in my opinion, all new characters are not much different from guests, at least guests are relatable because we know where they originate… Honestly I believe Rash, Arbiter, and maybe even RAAM are all more popular and utilized the Mira is (could be wrong)
What if it were an even split 4 guest characters 4 original characters and 1 original boss character. Would that be acceptable?
Guys, as much as I don’t share @anon39655210’s opinion, I don’t think he’s been unclear. In his view only a S4 with zero guests is desirable. We don’t have to ask him specifically about every conceivable combination of guests/original characters. “What about two guests, three originals, two shadow characters and a reworked original cast member to be named later in exchange for a fourth round draft pick?”
Lol. It’s like that old routine:
“I’ll have a coffee and a donut”
“We don’t have any coffee”
“Okay, I’ll have a coffee and a krueller”
“We don’t have any coffee”
“Okay I’ll have a coffee and a bagel…”
Thank you. <3

i see Joanna Dark future fourth guest of KI…
overall that would be fine with me also
So if people legitimately enjoy playing the game and level up characters they should be looked down upon because they’re not pro-material and the best with them? That sounds like a pretty snobby attitude to me.
nope. They will put the cheap op Jack Joyce as the official gunslinger of KI:wink:
You really do not know this.
Like I said, throwing the baby out with the bathwater. And it’s only really bathwater to some. I happen to like guests, and they’re good for the game.
Original KI roster is full, now IG is free to do whatever he wants…for me
I would love to see a 4th season just to see one character: Kelvin. The rushdown Glacius character in one of the polls. I imagine her (yes I said HER; female Glacius race character would be very interesting) being red for some reason and having amazing normals (a long range HK maybe) and the ability to actually freeze opponents.
I’d be totally fine with no story mode for season 4, just add new content to Shadow Lords.
Focus the time and money that would go into a full story mode into ultimates, characters, stages, etc.
Really hoping if there is a season 4 they don’t add any more characters and just add content like ultimates, new modes, costumes, stages for the homeless, etc. As far as I’m concerned KI has enough characters.
KI already had a very dedicated fanbase. Funding Shadow Jago was proof of that. So yes, I do know this.
People who are good at the game and understand it fundamentally realize that too many characters = balance issues = polarized tiers = people abusing OP characters = NO FCKIN FUN!
“Yes! We want moar chars, so we can only see one or two of them online and cry to Keits for nerfs!!oneone.”
Just because KI has a dedicated fanbase doesn’t mean MS won’t make demands for things. Heck, even bigger franchises like Halo and Gears have to cave in to MS demands.
*Cough REQ system *Cough *COUGH
None of us have any insight into the process for how characters get picked. It could be A) IG decided that they wanted Arbiter in the game because they had a cool design for him, so MS negotiated amongst themselves whether they would allow a Halo character in the game and decided yes, or B) MS knocked on IG’s door and said “one of the S3 characters is now a Halo character, because we said so” and IG has no choice in the matter. Or it could be somewhere in between, a mutual discussion and agreement that Arbiter makes sense for KI, and KI makes sense for Arbiter.
None of us have any idea.
You may not like that guests are in KI, but you have no idea who to blame here. Might be IG, might be the KI team at MS, might be upper management at MS, might be my cat.
I don’t have a cat
Whatever scenario it is, people wanted these characters and that’s more important to me.
I don’t know that an argument over the definition of “need” is going to get us very far, and I don’t see how it’s helpful to speculate on why there are guests or what they could have done instead. We have what we have and the thread is about season 4.
The pertinent question is, will there be a season 4? At this point I would be surprised if there wasn’t. Will it feature a full 8 characters? I don’t know. Will it have guests? That’s hard to say. The two big MS franchises (Halo and Gears) are in. I don’t see them adding more characters from those games. So what’s left? Joanna Dark is a possibility. But after that? I don’t see any obvious tie ins. There’s a thread on Drew from Scalebound, which I think would be hugely challenging but is probably the next best guess. Actually, now that I think about it a Phantom Dust character has to be on the list too. So, no matter what, guests are a maybe. I’m sure MS and IG have some data on purchases and usage that will help them make that decision.
When will we hear about S4? This is going to disappoint a lot of people but if there’s going to be a season 4 I wouldn’t expect an announcement in 2016, and I wouldn’t expect the first S4 content to launch until Fall 2017. They have just put out the Definitive Edition and they will want to get some space before announcing new content to prevent the howls of indignation. I also think they want to take some time to see how Shadow Lords does in the wild and I fully expect to see some additional content released beyond the Eyedol storyline. The trend has been more and more time between seasons and content releases and I’m guessing they have a lot of internal decisions to make.
All of this is complete and utter speculation and I could be completely wrong. I definitely think having some fresh content for a 60 FPS 4K fighting game at the time of the Scorpio launch would be a good idea.
