Ultra SF2 coming to the Nintendo Switch

This is a joke right? The dark evil forces corrupted a character and somehow that’s racist? Well political discussion isn’t allowed here so I won’t discuss this too much.

I think this is just silly. The characters aren’t changing their race. In SF a lot of the characters skin color change with their outfit colors. It’s aesthetic not political.

Japan’s tone def, pointing these things out is a waste time. Nothings changing there.

The “dark skin = Evil” is weird but there’s worse👇

Balrogs still gonna be about “Muh money”

Sean will always be incompetent

Birdy’s designed and rigged like a gorilla

The black doll is literally a spear chucker

They made a ganguro tribe for Elena

Sigh… Dee Jay

It’s not changing race the problem. The video expresses distaste in the trope that evil charecter/■■■■ characters have to either have dark skin or be black. Sometimes for no other reason than evil =dark skin.

I guess an easy way to describe it is the dark link effect.

Shadow the hedgehog shouldn’t need to have black fur to show the audience he is literally evil sonic…

I guess evil Ryu and violent ken doesn’t need to have a skin tone change to show they are evil…weird dank black tattoos would have also make sense kinda like Sasuke in Naruto( who then perfects his evil transformation by…turning a his skin tone dark grey…huh…welp)

However the video Doesn’t consider character when characters and their skin color is deeper than a simple evil=dark skin

characters like ganandorf and even dark link whom I named this trope after have deep cultral backgrounds both in real life and inside the game to an extent WHY they NEED to have their skin color. Why it is important to them and their cause their goals and identity. Well more so ganon I guess…still.

Next thing you know people will be saying silhouettes are insensitive because it implies the character should be stripped of any identity.

Any of you guys who has responded that this article is stupid and such…

Are you people of colour?
Have you experienced racism on your own selves?
Would you know how it feels like to be seen as something lesser because of your looks, interests, sexuality, personality or otherwise?
Or felt misrepresentated in media?

I’m not saying I agree with the article, but people are so easy to dismiss these issues without even considering them at all, because they would rather avoid the conflict rather than acknowledge it. And most of the time it is because they simply do not understand it, because they are not part of one of the targetted groups.

That being said but it’s also easy to dismiss opinions of others based off the idea that they don’t meet certain qualifications to have an opinion. In a sense it’s kinda like saying that just because I’m a male I can’t fathom the idea that childbirth hurts, even though I’ve had kidney stones and many women say it’s very similar. On both ends of the argument there are just way too many people saying you don’t count because you’re not A, or you don’t count because you’re not Z, when in most cases life experiences have placed most people somewhere between B and Y.

Plus, there are such things as sympathy and empathy.

BigBadAndy was the only one to actually give an opinion, the rest of y’all just opt for a ■■■■■■■■■■

Fair enough, but to be honest I agree with Andy’s stance, so there wasn’t much to add as far as an opinion was concerned.

…*looks at hand to check if it was invisible when I held it up by making an opinion…

Hehehe… I sorta meant in rebuttal

-Are you people of color?
Yes. I am Vietnamese.
-Have you experience racism on your own selves?
Yes. Numerous times, people have called me “Chinese” and told me to kill myself.
-Would you know how it feels like to be seen as something lesser because of your looks, interests, sexuality, personality or otherwise?
Yup.
-Or felt misrepresented in media?
Media can misrepresent people. When it comes to fiction, having darker skin to represent evil is not racism. It shows corruption. Stereoypes are another thing. Everyone thinks (insert race) of people are (insert negative racist trait)? Wouldn’t it be better to prove them wrong by not being that instead of just pointlessly arguing about they are racist and dumb?

All in all I know there’s no racism intended with Evil Ryu/Violent Ken/Dark Lady/Akuma, I do notice that black kids would rather play those characters as an alternative to the actual black characters because (quote) “those ninjas are weird AF”

I’m a heterosexual white male living in the United States. Without trying to take this into the political level, I am constantly being told how easy my life is and how oppressive I am to everybody and how I just can’t understand what it’s like to be discriminated against. But I can and do because I have been. Without going into too much detail, I have been called names, threatened and physically attacked because of my race more than once. Further, there are plenty of ways for people to be mistreated that don’t involve racism.

There are real issues in the world that we all need to address. I don’t deny that there are many forms of racism and discrimination and that they are not all overt and aggressive and easily identifiable or fixable. Hell, I even think Street Fighter includes many offensive racial depictions. But Evil Ken having a darker complexion than regular Ken just isn’t one of them. It’s certainly not “racist.” And if we are wasting our time fussing over this then we aren’t doing more worthwhile things. If we achieve victory and get them to lighten evil Ken that doesn’t accomplish anything meaningful. Instead of getting irate over things that are not real, I just wish people would take that energy and put it toward… being nicer to each other.

I’m offended by the misuse of the word political.

So has anyone got SF2 Ultra yet? I intend to…eventually. I’m curious as to how much they have changed the gameplay.
…also if they’ve slowed down Vega’s music even more. I swear, every version of SF2 back in the day it just kept getting slower and slower.

So…I just got it. Honestly I’m no FG expert, but in the short amount of time I played the arcade ladder I felt the game was really smooth to play…like really smooth. I felt extremely confident in my gameplay, which usually isn’t the case in SF2. I don’t know if the AI was just really toned down from what I’m used to(I was playing on normal) or they managed to swap out Capcom’s trademark cheap AF SF2 AI with something a bit better, as I made it all the way through the arcade ladder without a single continue. I intend to do more testing later, but as of right now I really like it.
Oh, also…my first online match the guy rage quits after the first loss because I stomped him so hard. :smiling_imp: lol.

I tried the motion control mini game, and…eh. It’s an interesting side novelty, but definitely not worth doing more than a handful of times.
All in all, I think I’m going to enjoy the game quite a bit.

LMAO some of the artwork in this game is hillarious!!

It comes from an art book called “Street Fighter Artworks: Supremacy”, which was apparently over 200 pages, and is now out of print.
It’s starting to become apparent that they added enough goodies to justify the $40 price tag, given the game, the digital art book, and the Hadou mode, mediocrely lame as it is.

Nature is racist because shadows are dark and black.

Yin Yang is racist because White / Black

This article is so STUPID!

BTW if you need a racial profile (oh GOD the irony!!) from myself:
Mexican / NERD / Computer Guy / Fat / Dark Brown Skin / Male / Heterosexual / Atheist

And I will never NEVER select a guy in a videogame with that profile. I will always select the tall white dood with dreamy blue eyes and summer abs or the sexy chick with nice proportions, not the fat one.

God just look at Mass Effect Andromeda. Please tell me how well that went when the politics are involved in a videogame.
