Maybe s3 was covering the costs of the ultimates. I’d rather unlock them through SL maybe.
If they do charge for them I hope they use ki gold to purchase them
I’m sure s3 was covering for s3. I honestly admit I’d rather they just be unlockd from the get go. If they’re not free I’m fine with KI Gold even though, ya know we get 600 of that every week.
If you do suspect you’re gonna pay for Ultimates just save up now guys. If it’s not coming till March you have no excuse to save up for them right now. And if it IS free, guess what you’ll have extra money to spend on whatever you want be it XBL or just something KI in general
I just want Omen, Shago, Killgore, and the other 2 new characters to have a full set of accessories, colors, and retro/alternate costumes.
Ultimate’s are very hype as well. But if Omen, and the above mentioned do not get one…well, then Im not interested.
Character moves in any form should not nor ever be something that is locked away behind a secondary paywall. That my friend is a slippery slope that could end up aiming towards the pay-to-win side of things. This is not Mortal Kombat where you get a pause after your clear and undisputed victory and then can do whatever. Not having a classic Fatality pack won’t cost you the match. In KI though using or not using a finisher could be the difference in winning or losing.
That being said I have no issue with them creating content such as new colors that funds stuff like Ultimates, but to lock any moves behind a paywall…no. Just no.

I get it…but this wouldn’t be the same since you still have an ultra you can perform to end the match at danger. Not having an Ultimate wouldn’t be any different than Shago having one now and everyone else does not.
But they definitely shouldn’t be an extra cost IMO. they should be an added bonus to owning each character. But that makes me think that everyone may not get one if they are truly free.

I know it wouldn’t happen often, but I could just imagine someone fighting a tough opponent and getting a jump on the opponent early, goes for the Ultimate, and… whiffs a grab instead because, say they’re at their friend’s house and he doesn’t have Ultimates purchased, and that one whiffed grab is enough for the opponent to turn the tides and gain a massive comeback and win the match. I know it’s an obscure hypothetical, but you know as well as I do a match isn’t over until it’s over, and you or anyone else were on the receiving end of a situation like that would be calling bullsh*t loud & clear.
But honestly my guess is this is what the skins and guardian packs have been buying for us.
Personally, I hope they’ll eliminate double/triple ultras online with the introduction of Ultimates. Seems like a good excuse to, anyway.
Paying for Ultimates just seems like an absurd proposition. Where does this thought process come from? Is there any precedent for this in the game today?

hmm, I didnt think of that. Thats a good point. What if its not installed and you get a grab. Very nice observation…yes…yes I would be salty if that happened.
So long as your opponent is in green and wants to finish you with an Ultimate. I know that’s what I’m gonna be doing.
@WrathOfFulgore I wouldn’t be surprised but I also hope this is something that’s gonna be free, but I’ll be saving up just in case. Be nice if the devs could at least come and nip this in the bud before it escalates.

I think it has to do with people still salty about Kilgore. Likely assuming you gotta pay for em’’ even though we have no way of knowing. On the other hand, because this is post season and we’re not quite sure how these are going to be handled. I honestly dunno beyond that -shrug-
So yeah.
While I’m not sure what your guys plans are, I was hoping that characters would get two ultimates; one for their modern costumes which would be new and one for their retro costumes which would bring back a classic from the old games i.e the elephant drop. Probably pushing it but that would be the dream 
Honestly I’m not sure how that would even work unless the ultimates were restricted to per costume.

We really have no reason to expect to pay for ultimates. Anyone in a tiff about Killgore can simply not buy him until he either gets cheaper or becomes part of a character bundle (which only seems inevitable).
I expect to pay for characters, but not for gameplay injections (especially ones that don’t even occur during the match).
I ain’t worried.

Well ACTUALLY we got colors and accessories actually coming I think imagine that, more accessories coming after Ultimates? and possibly more costumes, which they gave Thunder’s new outfit away free for people who owned season1.
When iron galaxy tweeted “IN CASE YOU MISSED IT, ULTIMATES ARE BACK!!” it made me feel like all characters are getting one. Please @Delriach @BlitzedKraig @TempusChaoti @TheKeits don’t disappoint
