Well sans the beard, this does look reasonably close to what Tusk looked like in KI2. The beard and removal of war paint were small things but made a big picture.
This is more or less what I’m picturing for his Retro. I like it. He looks like a blond Dothraki Khal.
I’m hoping the beard is optional. I may like it both with and without.

They have 6 more days to darken his eyes before I start raging out… I don’t expect exact retros, but there are deal breakers.
The lack of a beard, presence of a tattoo, sword, pony tail, “barbarian” gear and backfacing stance aren’t good enough? Not wearing dark eye makeup is a “deal breaker?”
Statements like this are why we have those massive “modern KI V.S. nostalgia” wars.

Good job finding all the things he has in common with his old version, while conspicuously missing all the differences.
It’s not a matter of nostalgia. It’s a simple matter of what, from his old look, would look the most badass on his new model in my opinion.
You needn’t take it so personally. Statements like yours imply that opinions which aren’t yours are somehow wrong.

I’m not taking it personally - the point is that focusing on every miniscule detail that might be different is really only hurting your own enjoyment of using the retro costume. Many people have posted strong feelings against what are, in my opinion, very small differences, and labeled the costumes “bad” because of it.
What made me respond to your post was the “deal breaker” portion of it; it seems to imply if he doesn’t have black eye makeup you would consider it a failed costume, rather than simply saying you would like it to be included. Do you see what I mean? I also don’t have a lot of experience with the old games, so I couldn’t tell you every detail the character had; up until someone mentioned the eye-black a week ago or so, I’d never even noticed he had it.
I guess what I’m saying is, it seems like they hit the big points when recreating the costume. Something like the eye-black doesn’t seem to be a “deal breaker” to me.

He might have a color option which shades his eyes. You could then rest easy knowing I’m satisfied. 
I’m teasing, of coarse. I can’t deny his retro looks really good. That’s just one tiny feature that would have knocked it out of the park for me.
