Probably a smart move. SFV didn’t sell well on PS4 and PC. Not much of a difference Xbox would do when it’s trailing and isn’t friendly towards anime games. Tekken would do worse. Not only that but the majority of people on here would probably bash Tekken saying KI is better and try to push people towards KI instead of Tekken.
Tekken is not anime and it is a household lame among gamers not just the FGC. There are other people on xbox that do not visit these forums by the way.
My bad. Japanese games. They tend not to do well on Xbox. There is a reason why a lot of Japanese devs overlook the Xbox and one of those reasons is that in Japan not many people own Xbox’s. It might as well be anime since you hardly see any Xbox gamer talk about it in other forums.
I cannot wait for Tekken 7 man. I’m enjoying Tekken Tag Tournament 2 so much.
It doesn’t really matter how many people talk about it if people buy it. Tekken 6 sold about half as many copies on 360 as on PS3. The ratio is much higher in North America, the principle Xbox market. If they want to sell units they will do as well or better on X1 than they will on PC.
The only one I really played competitively was DoA2 Ultimate on Xbox, because it had a truly marvelous (astonishing at the time) netcode that allowed very decent online matches. That game had fewer clones than the current iterations. What I like most about the series is the basic rock paper scissors mechanic, the ability to play competitively without having to memorize strict execution combos, but the depth that makes you better as you learn the various matchups and identify the better combos and strategies with your character. (for the record, when I say competetively I don’t mean high level tournament play - I mean playing ranked matches online for fun) Plus, the game animates and plays much more smoothly than either Tekken (which I feel still animates like puppets rather than people - with all kinds of impossible looking moves) or Virtua Fighter (which has a very metered and blocky play - I don’t know how to communicate this, but it’s like it’s divided into time chunks instead of just responding fluidly). I do like VF gameplay, but they are guilty of putting in stupidly difficult execution and hiding truly ridiculously damaging techniques behind one frame timing.
I eventually left DoA because of the childish fixation on dressing your sex dolls, not because the gameplay is no good.
I really hope it isn’t, I hate playing 2d fighters with a fightstick ( I’m a big pad player, arcades were dying out when I was a kid so stuff like street fighter and MK I had to play on pad. Feels weird not to now), but I’ve always played Tekken with a fightstick (The only fighting game I got to play in arcade). I got a razor atrox for the xbox one when tekken 7 was announced so I could play it with it. Would’ve been a huge waste of money if it’s announced as PS4 exclusive.
Tekken 7 might be coming to Xbox 1 and PC.

Someone asked a Namco Rep at Comicon London - so it’s not an official announcement, but the official Tekken 7 survey Namco did last year also mentioned an Xbox and PC version - so it’s highly likely.
We’ll find out at E3!
That’s AWESOME! I wonder if this is one of the two rumored fighting games MS will be showing at E3 this year. I could’ve sworn I read somewhere that PS4 might be getting some exclusive content, maybe XB1 owners will be getting some exclusive content as well? Even if we don’t, I can’t say I mind that much. Just happy to have another good FG on this system!
So strange how this conversation has developed over time. The game has ALWAYS been confirmed to be coming to Xbox one and PC. But details have been so hard to come by that when they announced Akuma in the game people started to assume it was a PS4 exclusive.
This is what happens when developers never say anything. We whine if the KI devs don’t post every detail of the process but people don’t even know what system other games are coming too…
I thought I heard that too.
I guess it’s just a bit nerve wrecking.
Exclusivity when you are loyal to a console/company (or that’s just the one you happened to pick up), is a nightmare. ![]()
Yeah honestly, I just assumed it was coming to both, but then I started seeing stuff like the thread title above and one of the devs saying that there’d be stuff that makes the Sony fans very happy, or something along those lines, and I just put two and two together (and unfortunately got chair lol).
I agree that it’s pretty amazing how some devs are so silent and yet there are some people here that complain when there’s a whole week without news (even if that week includes a new chapter released and probably a piece of obscured art as well).
I saw a piece making the rounds on Twitter today about fandom and entitlement with Kathy Bates from Misery on it and how fandom is broken. Personally, I think that our little corner of the internet is pretty awesome and I’m not going to badmouth any individuals, but I do think that a lot of what the article says has merit with regards to any fanbase and how unbelievably difficult it must be for anyone that releases content, whether it’s a book, a movie, a video game, a comic or anything else these days.
Sorry to derail the topic a bit! ![]()
I actually started a thread (basically ranting) about the modern fan as basically someone who loves something so much that they hate it. I’m sure it’s down at the bottom of the list somewhere, but I agree that it’s an interesting subject.
It just saddens me, more than anything else. I’d have to think that being a game developer would be something of a dream job. So to get that job and do something really cool, only to have faceless people call your hard work garbage, call you lazy, make death threats, etc… I feel bad for them.
The worst part is that there’s this “well, it’s the internet, what do you expect” mentality about it; a sort of normalized acceptance of it. Many fans seemingly either ignore it, don’t speak out against it (either out of indifference or fear) or they’re part of the problem.
I mean this is what fandom is now? This is how we process something that we love and reflect that enjoyment back on the creators of that content? I know that there are tons of nice people out there that don’t fall in to the bad seed camp, but man… It just feels like there’s entitlement for days out there, and the second you point it out, people get all defensive and “1st amendment this” and “I have a right to speak my mind” that. There’s no winning.
Ah, sorry to keep going off on this topic. Like I said, it just makes me feel bad for those people. Yeah, you get to do something you love, but I’m sure the idea of actually interacting with people that enjoy what you love working on must be a mixed bag at best sometimes.
EDIT: Just saw on my facebook wall that apparently 20 protesters “marched” on the Japanese consulate in Hong Kong to protest Nintendo’s translating of names in Pokémon Sun and Moon. I mean… What? Couldn’t you just tweet at Nintendo saying “please don’t do this” or something along those lines? You have to picket outside a consulate?
I dunno. Maybe I’m not as much of a fan as I thought I was. I grew up on games, movies, comics, etc and I honestly don’t believe that it makes me better than anyone else to think that this kind of behavior is mind-boggling. It’d simply never occur to me to do something like this. I mean yeah, these protestors are harmless, I’m sure. But just the fact that someone actually had this was a good idea and others agreed. I just don’t get it.
I think when you factor in that being a game developer is a dream job, but one with miserable pay, brutal hours and success intimately linked with popularity, I can’t imagine how they must feel about those kinds of fans. I’m in complete agreement about the tacit approval and complicity of the “what, it’s just the Internet?” Crowd. We let the worst among us dictate the conversation and any other forum wouldn’t allow it. But the anonymity of the Internet makes it somehow okay…
So basically it was never confirmed until they confirmed…
People as in whom? Because it was mostly sites related to gaming such as IGN, GameSpot and others saying this was the case as the link in the OP. Gamers can only know as much as devs and gaming media outlets put out.
Not to mention SFVs low sales, that Tekken Survey and fan demand probably had a factor to play because it could have been on the table regarding PS4 exclusivity. Now I am glad it is not the case but it seems all you really do is criticize other peoples views and discussions as if the case was if they do not agree with you or are on your side of the thought pattern they are whining or something else
Who is “we”? I didn’t know a single person on the internet could speak for a community of people. Must have left me out of that statistic
Uhhh of course people don’t know until a dev says something kind of like people didn’t know SFV was exclusive until it was announced…
I’m not sure what you are getting so bent about. The original link you posted to start this thread was nothing but a speculative rumor from a no name nobody.
“The fact that the Xbox One system hasn’t been mentioned in the official press seemed to hint that the game will eventually be released exclusively on PlayStation 4…”
Frankly, I don’t think it was worth worrying about. Harada confirmed that Tekken 7 was coming to Xbox One and PC the very day it was announced that Tekken 7 was coming to home consoles at all. This business about PS4 exclusivity was entirely made up and never confirmed by anyone. So I think it’s funny that people are now celebrating like it used to be a PS4 exclusive and now it’s coming to Xbox One. It also highlights the vast gulf of communication from Namco about Tekken 7 when compared to the KI team. That’s the point I was making.
As for the rest of your nonsense - it’s a rhetorical “we” (look it up). Seriously, just chill. If someone writes “people do dumb stuff” do you come running into the thread and say “what people? You can’t mean me. You don’t get to speak for me!!!” If you do, you are definitely one of the “people” being referred to…
Lol.
Great, you didn’t have to and those who did rightfully did because of these “speculative rumors”.
Yet everyone is now acting like it is news. It was never confirmed since T7 was announced.
Exactly, if they had communicated better there would have been no speculation if it had just been 100% confirmed from the beginning.
“We whine” and “people do stupid stuff” is completely different in the former you are addressing a direct specific small community instead of a general amount of people.
My point is you are almost always critisizing people on this forum constantly to the point everytime I see you, you are posting something negative.
This was meant to share opinions and see the interest of xbox players for Tekken some care some don’t. You on the other hand bring the people whine, we shouldn’t be allowed to speculate or have opinions. I feel as if you just got introduced to the internet on how much you complain about people complaining however valid it may be.
That is the internet there is trash everywhere but I would love for once to see you post something positive on a weekly basis.
