Stagger and flipout should never been introduced

(trying to be coy)

I’m not sure I’ve read a more confusing set of sentences in a long time.

I can’t even reply to this because I have no idea what you’re trying to say.

Brother you speak the truth. No one asked for what IG has done to this game. Most of the season 1 players are long gone because this game isn’t Killer Instinct anymore. :frowning: It used to be a series about mostly close combat, good reaction, a brilliant combo breaker system, fast fierce battles, cool combo ender and finisher, ultras, etc
Now this game is about running away, very little close combat, a bunch of people fighting lame and being rewarded for it by the game mechanics, a wtf combo breaker system that’s made completely void since it can easily be broken, battles are rarely back and forth now they’re usually lopsided for various reasons, the main ones being insane damage long unbreakable combos you can do nothing about, etc
The game isn’t terrible but it’s not Killer Instinct anymore.

Don’t know where you are coming from with that, but I’ve been playing since season 1, and I’m still here.

You are one person not everyone. smh Don’t address me. Just ignore my posts please, you’re troll fishing to get me banned, not taking the bait, sorry.

No, you did that to yourself.

What I read:

“You’re just one person, you can’t speak for everyone!”

“I’m just one person, so let me speak for everyone

Leaving the “we” aside

If this was really “classic” KI we’d

Have corner-to-corner inputs
A locked combo system (O-D-L-D-E)
A 50/50 chance to break, and only on autos
R/P/S special punish system, so you could beat any move, 100% of the time if you predicted it
Projectiles on every character
Mostly rushdown characters
No counter-breakers
No shadow counters

Etc.

Yes, please do that. That would be fantastic. No one asked for KI to be made into a cheese-fest of mind games(but are they really mind games when you can just spam them ie shadow jago teleports), spammers, lame fighting/turtling, unbreakable combos because the combo breaker system is completely nullified by counter breakers, etc
Aside from the fact you abandoned the core roots of the game, without realizing it IG, you’ve made a fighting game that heavily favors the pro players/tournament/someone who wants to be in the previous two categories, so much so that no one else likes your game much to play it very long or revisit it often. Who wants to get their brains beat in to the point they feel they have no chance at all taking a 70% damage combo because they made a small mistake or some lag made their block not register in time, etc
?

That’s not Killer Instinct, it’s something else. KI 1 and 2 catered to all skill levels. If you were pro level, you could make the right reads and be rewarded for it. If you were average or even a relative noob to those games you could still do well enough to feel you competed and you might win a round or two if you started learning the game. You’ve essentially made the exact opposite game the majority of fans of the first two wanted. And, it’s a pretty safe bet to say the majority. You guys have taken way too many liberties with KI. You continue to add more and more fighting mechanics for the top level players and ignore the rest of the players. You don’t take the time to consider how it will effect them when they’re the vast majority of your player-base.

Let’s not forget this game has been out 3 years now and is still heavily lacking in basic features. Maybe you guys should focus on that instead of adding needless mechanics a couple of hundred pro players will find fascinating but will only make the game even less accessible to everyone else. sigh

lol, this guy.

On a related note, I’m really liking what the new juggles and flipout do for anti-airing. With Jago I’m finding ~35% off a HK or crHP using one bar of meter (for a shadow DP) and managing to keep it pretty ambiguous – and since it’s a bunch of laser swords mainly, I can cover up a surprise flipout reset pretty well. I don’t know how the damage is going to pan out over time, but it should definitely be a sizeable improvement over anti-air damage in S2.

I’m beginning to think that some people here mightn’t like the changes because they’re just bad players who lean far too hard on jump-ins for their offense, and don’t like that they are being forced to, y’know, not jump so much. Which is friggen awesome, because fighting an opponent who just jumps all the time is just irritating. Similar thing seemed to happen to recapture, which had a similar effect on neutral of saying “no, we’re going to fight on the ground”.

How are you leaving the we aside in this second statement? Saying “no one else [besides pros and wannabe pros] likes your game” is absolutely speaking for others.

It may shock you to know that a vast majority of the people on this site are neither pros nor aspiring pros. I don’t know where you’re getting your data from, but this game seems to be doing pretty well, and my guess is that it’s not based entirely upon a small subsection of a small community (i.e. The pro KI players within the FGC).

You’re absolutely entitled to your opinion, but everything you posted made you sound like someone that doesn’t know this version of KI very well and would prefer a 20 year old game reskinned to look modern. If I’m misrepresenting your opinion, then it’s not my intention, but that’s how your post reads.

If that’s what you actually want, then it’s little wonder why this game disappoints you so much. It’s a great game. One of the best fighter dive ever played. It’s a shame that your nostalgia won’t allow for growth in this series. You might see what I see.

I don’t mean that in a condescending way. I can’t force myself to be interested in Final Fantasy XV because of how much it veers away from what I want in the series (a true fantasy setting, full control of all party members in a turn-based system etc). Final Fantasy VII Remake feels like an abomination to me because of it, even as I really want it to be a reskinned of the old title.

I hope that I can be open minded about them when they launch, especially if they turn out really well. So I do see a bit where you might be coming from. I just think new KI’s a great experience once you get over what it’s not and immerse yourself in what it is. At that point, for me at least, it feels like Killer Instinct. It retains that core, while expanding upon it in ways that dwarf the gameplay mechanics of the originals (which I also loved back in the day and still enjoy) and create something truly fun.

That’s just me though. If you disagree, then so be it.

I didn’t say we, he did. smh Not gonna bother reading the rest of your post as mine was not addressed to you. Your opinion does not matter to me, sorry.

You use Jago yet have the nerve to talk about anyone else being bad. lmmfao That’s so classic, my sides hurt from laughter.

Wow – apparently Jago is only the n00b character now? Because despite S3 Jago being very good, competent players should steer clear lest they be mistaken for one of the legions of Jumping Jagos flooding Bronze in ranked?

I repeat: lol, this guy.

What does “catering to pros” even mean? Besides not having laughably low skill celling, of course?

Well
at least this guy lasted a few hours after his first ban.

Was hoping he could stick around a while longer, but I suppose it wasn’t meant to be.

This one single sentence has given me all the reason I needed to never read another of your posts again.

Wha
? What’s wrong with Jago?

Good argument

My apologies for not understanding the context as you laid it out, but while you might not have been hypocritical, the idea of not speaking for others, which I’m fairly certain I quoted correctly, still stands.

Regardless, if you’d troubled yourself to read the rest of my post, you would’ve seen someone that was trying to relate to your opinion, even if I didn’t share it on this particular game. I guess we both jumped the gun a bit.

That’s fine though. You weren’t speaking to me, so apparently I can’t respond to you, since that’s clearly how the Internet works.

Honestly, I don’t know why my opinion would matter to you in the first place. We’re strangers on the Internet talking about a common interest. It’s nice to have a collective conversation on this site, but it’s not like I’m over here living and dying with every word you say either lol.
