So apparently locking a character behind a larger paywall for a community fund is okay now?

Discussing or debating the price/fund/Kilgore release is fine, but if it does not maintain a civilized and respectful tone this thread will end.

And while sure I can agree 10 for 1 clone character is high, if they’re trying to fund something for the next year it’s understandable. It’s something MOST fans are going to buy. If they made a skin pack 10 bucks I think most fans would skip it. It’s a rock and a hard place situation, but from the standpoint of trying to raise as much money as possible it makes sense. I just wonder if the next 2 characters are going to do something similar. If the next character is 10 bucks but that community fund gets us stages for Rash, Eyedol, Mira and Raam
 then cool.

I think one issue here is we’re not personally getting anything really with this fund. It’s going to tournaments, so it’s harder to accept for people.

Thats my issue with it, that extra money that I would be spending if I did it, gives me NOTHING as a customer, funding personally does nothing for me, I don’t play in tournaments, so I am spending extra money on something that doesn’t benefit me as a customer at all. Even if they gave us some KI gold, I could swallow it like i did with ultra season 3.

Since Ultimates are actually going to be a thing finally I’d be happy to help people push for more stages.

Plus if KI gets more exposure at evo it can serve as motivation for the devs to get more content out even further. This is of cours e ahunch though

I get that, but you made this post seemingly surprised, outraged, and/or hurt by the price tag of Kilgore.

Your perspective is skewed.

Kilgore / its price is FAR from an outlier in comparison to the rest of the cast. Add to that fact that this character is an out of Season buy, and you can start to see the reasons why it has a premium price tag.

That being said, you don’t HAVE to buy him. He will more than likely go down in price over time, but you just have to be patient.

Of course I’m not saying DON’T complain, or to NOT voice your opinion. If you think Arbiter is over priced
If you think the Shago deal was dumb back in the day
That is all good and well, but this “new” Kilgore situation isn’t anything out of the ordinary for KI.

So I just heard the news and I’m a little lost. What are they trying to fund exactly? But honestly, I can’t justify spending $10 on one “remix” character and nothing else. I’m just going to pass until he’s on-sale or something.

And again, you’re changing your argument.

You refused to accept the fact that the donation was part of the cost when it is. They said it is. You tried to bring up the description to prove that the donation is not part of the cost, but again, they said it is. An erroneous description doesn’t negate this fact. That’s what I was correcting you on. Now you’re saying that they inflated the price to take a donation, so you’re acknowledging the fact that the donation is part of it. Once again, I’m not disputing your opinion on the price. If you think it’s too much, so be it. I was just trying to say that the ten dollars goes toward the character and the donation and you kept refusing the latter part.

So either you’re trolling me, in which case
Well done. Or we’re just talking past one another since you seem to be changing your point every time you respond while I just keep making the one point, which is an indisputable fact.

Attaching the donation for the community fund to Killgore is to help give incentive to donate to the community fund. How hard is that to understand? [quote=“jpraelster93, post:83, topic:17426”]

The tournament scene for game is what keeps them alive, if you really don’t want to pay the $10 then don’t ■■■■■■■ complain about it because your trust fund collapsed on you kiddo.

Ten-bucks ain’t ish. Either invest or complain somewhere else.

It isn’t new, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it, because I don’t, hence the topic.

The tournament scene doesn’t effect me personally, people are going to play the game no matter what. As long as I can have people to play with, thats all I care about.

Shadow Jago was $15 to create the character and support the tournament scene.

This is $10 for the character and half of it is to support the scene.

You don’t like Kilgore? You don’t care about supporting the scene? DON’T BUY IT

I’m chilling in a party with 6 other KI tournament competitors and we are all playing each other using Kilgore, labbing Kilgore, and talking about him. Our love and support for this game far exceeds the poor amount of support Microsoft gives to the devs and community. I’ll continue supporting with these donations b/c I travel out to these tournaments.

Only people complaining are people who don’t come out to the offline.

Yeah I gotta gooooo lmao. You sir, just won life. @EctopicILLusion
Also, I don’t have the apbility to come to ANY of the offline tournaments, and fail pretty hard in the online ones, but I still am totally for spending the money. And, if by chance, I didn’t feel like spendning the extra $5, I WOULDN’T BUY THE CHARACTER.
easy bois

See how easy it us to not complain guys?

I like kilgore, but I don’t like paying 10 dollars for a single character, just because I don’t buy this at 10 dollars doesn’t mean I don’t want kilgore, it just means spending 10 dollars on a character isn’t something I want developers to think is right to do. Don’t tell me I don’t support the game, I paid full price for all three seasons, because the content for those price tags was there, or in seasons 3’s case, because I knew they would add it later, and they did in SPADES with shadow lords.

It’s just annoying for people like me who is currently tight on money. I like Kilgore – I want him, and I also want to support the game and whatnot. But I can’t justify spending $10 for it.

You make a point about it helping the offline scene, and that the only people complaining are people who don’t go to offlines. But that’s the thing. Why should a casual player – who doesn’t go to or have any interest in tournaments – be forced to spend an extra $5 for something they don’t care about?

For me, I do care about the offline scene. It’s just that, like I said, I can’t justify the money. I can get more for $10 from other FGs, heck, $10 can get me a full indie title. At the end of the day, I feel like the additional $5 should be optional. Not forced. With that being said, I’m not mad or anything. I’m simply going to pass until there’s a better deal.

It’s simple if you do not agree with the current price of this one character (even though if you watch the archived stream that literally says that half of the proceeds are going to fund tournaments exclusively) then do not buy it. This character along with the other 26 characters are not required in order for you to play this game, hell two of them are pretty much free with a third one rotating every week. You can as others suggested wait until they charge $5 for the character only without the donation or buy him now or wait until the character rotation gets to him. Do not forget this a F2P game.

This is my assumption if $5.00 are going strictly to tournaments as said by the devs where do think the other $5.00 are going? More than likely paying for the ultimates that we have asked for 3 years and other goodies yet to be revealed.

The problem I have is the idea of “Support KI and the tournament scene or don’t support it at all”.

Where I live, there is a very small KI scene. The fund won’t help here, and I won’t have the time to watch the streams (even though I would love to) and I sure as hell don’t have the money to attend. I wanted to at least support KI by buying Kilgore (a character I don’t even like), but putting another $5 on something that won’t benefit me at all is a waste. Not having the OPTION to support KI but not the tournaments that very few people actually go (check EVO 2016) to doesn’t sit right with me.

In the end, I’ll just keep my $10 and use it somewhere else, it’s IG that is missing out, unfortunately.

And before anyone says “It’s just $10!”, it costs R$34,50 here in Brazil. That’s almost what I paid on S2 when it was on sale and it’s what I paid on S3. I paid less on SFV on this Steam sale than what I would pay on Kilgore. It’s just not worth it to me.

Bingo, this guy gets it, I am all for supporting the game, but don’t add a tournament tax to the character. Have a way for people who want to support that stuff a way to do so, without forcing the people who just want all the characters to fund something that doesn’t help them whatsoever.

For those saying “why cant we get KI gold along with the purchase?”

Remember, currently we all get 600 Ki gold per week if we play the 3 corresponding Trials on the Daily give away. So them giving out more Gold kinda of takes away from that dont you think?

I do agree the C-Fund might be better utilized in a skin pack or multiple skin packs
for us anyway. for them, they feel they can guarantee more sales with a character
more people will buy the character than the skins.
What if the skins dont correspond with your main character? YOu may not buy it.

I on the other hand will buy everything they release
but people like me are few and far between outside the forums.
