Sabrewulf Season 3 Rebalance Thread

IG have probably never heard of the phrase

‘If it aint broke don’t fix it’

So basicaly don’t change anything? Well no point in doing anthing at all in that case.

I think my “don’t change” anything has been taken out of context. For change him I feel like they took away what he was supposed to be. A fast crazy rushdown character to a slow moving one; changing how he plays. It would be like grounding Sadira. I think Wulf is fun instinct or not. Of course I will try S3 Wulf hopefully there will be another character is S3 that has what I’m looking for.

Slow moving? They made his movement better in every way! He’s actually much faster than he was in S2.

Faster how? You know something that we don’t? What we saw is an early build maybe the final S3 Wulf will be better?

I don’t think the flip out is going to really offer anything new to wulf though. Yes he can do good mix ups off of it but think about it. Dash through, high/low/grab is going to make up the majority of those and it’s all stuff he already did off a sweep hard knockdown. What new thing does flip out offer a character that could already do what the mechanic offers other characters?

His run travels faster, his slide (hamstring) goes farther, and dive kick lets him move further horizontally while in the air. These are all things that improve his speed as a character. He can be on top of you much faster than he can in S2.

Oh…not quite the speed I was thinking. Lol

Coming from a person who had to almost completely relearn their character (Sadira main) due to having their main almost completely overhauled, it is a frustrating experience. I don’t think any of the team expects any of you to be completely happy with the changes, but you have to remember no matter what changes they’ve made rather greater or small, at the end of the day is for the sake of balance, and even though you think it is in the end of the world, none of the changes were to make the character too weak to be competitive.

What they have done is stop “broken” mechanics that gave said character an unfair advantage.

This is the same reason why they got rid of Sadira’s unbreakables and her ability to jump cancel openers (and now being about to drop a web during an Ender animation) or Cinder’s ability to create safe wiffed dps or Kan Ra everything.

No matter how bad you think Sabrewulf got it, it was nothing compared to what Sadira mains had to deal with, as their character was completely overhauled and we were forced to relearn her, but at the end of the day, she was better than ever, and we had to learn to be better players, as we couldn’t rely on unbreakable miracle webs to save our hide. We evolved and so will you.

If however, down the road, they find Sabrewulf turning into a junk yard dog, they will tweak him, just like they tweaked Sadira’s KV meter.

Don’t fret hound heroes, the dog is alive and well…

In the meantime… Come at me fuzzy cannonballs!

You make a great point about tweaking after the changes settle. Nothing is set in stone, so if anything they changed makes a character pretty worthless after some months of play, they would for sure put something in place to improve.

It shouldn’t even take months. Sadira’s KV change happened about month after her original changes, so if Wuff can’t keep up with the rest of the cast, they’ll tweak him. :slightly_smiling:

I get the frustration of losing the character you were comfortable with, and how a lot of changes and the introduction of new mechanics can seem daunting or even unnecessary, but we know that KI evolves with each season.

Personally, I like that it evolves. I like that it’s not just season one with DLC tacked on again and again. I want new experiences from old characters and new characters alike. Granted, we might see those changes and wince, but as @WebNRaGnArOk said, Sadira was significantly altered and people thought she was done and now she’s better than ever.

I’m not saying you’ll like the changes or that you just have to get used to playing differently because I don’t think we’re even there yet. I’m saying let’s see how he plays when season 3 drops before we decide that he’s been changed to the point where he’s not the Sabrewulf we knew and he’s slow and juggle heavy and what not. I’m not sure what speed you’re referring to @DyingAlloy66626, but I’m fairly confident he’ll be a character you can still enjoy, new tools or no.

The flip out leads to a vortex situation. Just wait till top players figure out some real dirt. Its going to be terrifying lol.

Exactly. It’s like scoring a hard knockdown and set a vortex, but faster. Even with the damage reduction, I belive Wulf can kill his enemies at the same speed, if not faster, forcing them quickly to stand up and making them commit mistakes

Much Combo! Very Ultra! Amazing Victory!

If my Sadira saw one of those coming her way, she’d trap it and then hug it and squeeze it and name it Billy…

Hi there. I’m having trouble figuring out in what way S2 Sadira was “almost completely overhauled” coming from S1. Care to share?

His walk speed, his dash, and his game play overall to me is slow. Now in S3 it’s even slower. Infilament states he’s “faster” because he has one move that can travel faster. One move to me has nothing to do with gameplay. Watching the recap of the world cup the changes made to S1 were just as I thought they wanted S1 characters to be more like S2 characters. It was stated many times. I happen to like straight forward characters they felt it’s not enough utliity. I just think there should be a combination of both. However since that is not going to happen I need to hit the lab and work on juggling.

@WebNRaGnArOk the only thing I think they should have changed with Sadira was her amount of time her instinct web held you. Otherwise imo she was okay as is. She like every other character is beatable which is why I hard time understanding some of the changes.

A number of things changed for Sadira in S2. Some changes were to her specifically, while others were to game mechanics itself, such as Air Combo Breakers.

Sadira’s change list for S2 are as follows:
The length of time a Web Trap could hold a person was reduced.
She could no longer Jump Cancel manuals.
She no longer had unbreakables.
Reduced KV for increased Air Juggle Potential
Added Shadow Web Cling
Added a Target Combo

Technically you didn’t “completely overhaul” her, but the changes you made, did force Sadira mains to relearn her.
Many of us, including myself (for better or worse) relied heavily on her unbreakables to win matches. We jumped cancelled manuals to create very difficult to break combos.

While, at first, we looked at those changes negatively (who wouldn’t if your character could do nigh unbreakable broken stuff), at the end of the day, she became a better character and ultimately we became better players.

As I stated, while technically didn’t completely redesign Sadira, the changes that were made, completely overhauled how we were used to playing her, and at the end of the day, wasn’t a bad thing.

My (oh earthquake…) okay… it’s over… My initial comments weren’t to make a jab or insult at IG, but reassure young Sabrelings that whatever changes are coming, are at the end of the day, for the best of the character.

You know… I can already see that on a shirt. :stuck_out_tongue:
