Response to LCD's why is no one sticking to KI rant

I didn’t even know about the iPhone game and its connection to the real game.
I’m not against WB making money either, I am however against them making money as a priority over most other stuff.

I think the big thing here is that people are looking for a solution to a problem they don’t quite understand yet. They make comparisons to games that are 15-25 years old and have been continuous throughout that time.

Street Fighter, Tekken, Mortal Kombat; none of them just showed up and became over-night successes, sort of. They had to establish themselves with characters or features that made them stand out from the other games. IG and MS have (kind of) done the right thing so far with Season 2, despite leaving out characters from KI2. They’ve established new characters and instilled their faith that they will carry KI through to Season 3, which is totally the right thing.

Ki is still a young game and people expect it to compete with the kings of the castle. It’s contending greater than my expectations, but we need a long transition to build it up into something that’ll legitimately compete against the big fighters.

I definitely believe that MS should stick in more money for KI, since they found money to put into the MKX tourney, while they demand their own fighting game gets community funded. Makes no sense, unless MS themselves refuse to acknowledge KI as a competitor amongst the other fighters.

You can tell LycanNaryko is a Marvel fanboy. Comparing everything to Marvel.. if you don’t like KI fine but atleast be discrete about how you try to compare it to other games. KI is not dieing by any means just because PR Balrog quits, or Justin Wong who couldn’t hang in Season 2 quits, or Paul B who is also voicing complaints at a high level. I see a ton of pro’s loving this game still because they aren’t jaded by another Fighting Game they are comparing int to.

And by the way, MKX is garbage not just the netcode.. you might as well call MKX what it is = Injustice 2.0 because its nothing like it’s successors especially nothing like MK9.

Can changes be made to make it better in Season 3? Sure but anything drastically different wouldn’t be KI.

I owned and loved Injustice, and if you ask me, MKX has can’t even begin to hold a candle to it…

I think a large problem is the failure to see the fact that KI has been fighting an uphill battle with the release of every season so far, and it’s still gaining ground, like @GalacticGeek said. Wait until we get a season that comes out without any other FGs releasing around it, and watch the FGC buzz about it. The influx will be massive

I did find some comments from this weeks 8BBD a little funny-peculiar.

A former Jago main is upset at the direction of their character’s S2 changes, and so dropped out of playing competitively.
Meanwhile, they commented how a Sabrewulf main has upped their game with the new S2 changes and in their opinion, is the most improved player in KI with the new 'Wulf.

To me it was like: I don’t like SFIII: 2nd Impact compared to SFIII: NG because my character’s moves were tweaked. … Man that other player has gotten really good at SFIII with 2nd Impact and that one other character!
And of course, now we’re going into SFIII: 3rd Strike territory with changes and such.
(And there are soooo many SF examples like this, a few other games have similar editions.. Like KI the original arcade has 3 versions on your Xboxes right now!)

Not sure how anyone in high level FG’s can get so singularly attached to molds unless their experience is actually very narrow or very recent without researching the history of the genre/circuit.

May be in the same way that people grow attached to what they have. I assume for some people it has to do with a “sentimental” value an emotional tie if you will.

But who knows all I’m spitting is speculation : U

I do understand the wanting to be rewarded for the effort into learning a character, even an entire roster. Never want to undermine that effort.

But ya at the same time, I’m just an observer to their issue, not a partaker or alternate path leader.

I am happy on my path though. I suppose that’s a great difference

Some people find a single, very narrow thing fun. If you were to take that thing away from them (even if it is better for the game as a whole), they will not be able to find anything else fun, and they will quit.

I dunno what you say to people like this. I guess you just have to let them go and hope they find some of their fun in a different game. But you can’t balance the game around people like this, because they don’t have a broad perspective; their tunnel vision into the one mechanic they liked prevents them from seeing the big picture.

100% true

some people love unbreakable juggles, and will spend lots of time tweaking their air combos. When you take out unbreakables because they are bad for the game, some people will say “you ruined KI”

I disagree completely, Injustice is not like MK, but MKX is almost identical to Injustice. MKX is the worst to debut in my opinon.. I would take MK vs DC over it and that was bad.

MKX = poor story, bland characters, and a lousy harder-to-use than it should be run mechanic. Injustice had NONE of those things.

I Love Injustice. It was actually the first fighting game I buckled down on and tried my best to BE the best. It set the stage for my love of fighting games! Now if only Marvel can create a game that tops Injustice X10 and Has Spiderman?

PEOPLE WILL GET BODIED.

Look Out! Here comes the Spider-Man… :grinning:

And featuring special guest character

barely readin this thread. i know how frustrated ppl are with guess breakers, it really sucks when i get a combo going and i get guess broken before my first frame of an AD even comes out. ill go opener > heavy > linker > light. ill get broken. ok so i go medium, i get broken lol. im like alright ■■■■■ here comes a counter breaker…guess what? he doesnt try to break!

thats my luck with these kinds of players lol. so i go with a combo again, then hes back to guess breaking, but when i go for a counter breaker AGAIN, its like he is reading my mind, or the ■■■■■■■ gets a yellow lock. gah! thats just the nature of the game, gotta deal with it and just CB at the start no BS just do it. first combo just do it, chances are they will fall for it.

Use a linker instead,

“Guess Breakers” are good in a way, as you kinda learn after a while what looks like what. Because even though you are pushing buttons, you do know what buttons you are hitting.

I’ll be honest. I “Guess Break” Sometimes.

But that’s only if I recognized a certain pattern that I had picked up on the fight. So If I see a lot of mediums, While I won’t guess medium every single time, I’ll guess around the same pattern. Because Everyone has a pattern or combo they do the most.

Do a Shadow linker before any ADs

You have to remember, too, bro that those guys are professional gamers. They’re paid to be good at a game, and if their sponsor says hey we can generate better revenue from the MK franchise or SF, then you better believe they will spend their time making sure they keep their sponsorship. I can’t see them telling razer or EG to go ■■■■■ themselves about SF cause they wanna play KI. Deuces, you just lost your sponsorship.

If the rumours are true about them completely re working glacius ill drop ki with no regrets. IG just keep finding new ways to annoy me and ive been thinking of quitting for a while now.

It’s because of Console wars, that’s the killer of fighting games :frowning:
