i just barely saw them right now, while the concept is cool im not sure how i feel about it yet. im gonna wait to judge it for myself when i get season 3 in front of me and see how it goes from there. if i dont like it, im still gonna play this ■■■■ game anyway lol but i wont care unless it affects my fighting and throws me off. then ill get ■■■■■■ about it. in 2 weeks ill find out how i really view it
Haven’t watched much of the stream so far (only seen glacius’s level 4 so far). Wouldn’t it make more sense to get the screen effects on a level 4 shadow ender instead of on regular level 4 enders. It would make them rarer as well.
Update: Saw Jagos level 4 battery ender. Definitely looks worse. The pauses take away from the speed and power of the animation. Also looks like it’s gonna make juggles a little more awkward to time after it.
I agree, but like I said before I’m curious as to how disorienting it is for both players when the level 4 ender is over. We didn’t see a lot, & the ones I noticed appeared to be hard knockdown enders, but I’m curious as to how easy it is to pick & & carry on with your next move when the animation kind of spins you around sideways.
I’m ambivalent on them. It seems to work well for some enders, and not so well for others. Keits confirmed in the chat that the zoomed-in enders take the exact same amount of time to come out/finish as the current level fours, but I had to ask because for whatever reason it felt slower. I think it’s literally just the camera detaching during an ender and flying around. I think any choppiness is probably those angles revealing skipped animations at certain points in the ender, something that’s easier to hide on the 2D plane than a 3D space. Some of that could also have just been due to the stream quality though, so I’ll reserve full judgment until I have it in front of me. I do think casuals will like it though, and I imagine it’ll be pretty hype in tournament as well.
Still feel pretty “
” about the new shadow effects though. On some specials (Orchid’s firecat for instance) it looks really good, while on others it just…doesn’t. I really miss the trailing afterimages of the character.
The effect does look better in this build than it did in the last though, so here’s hoping they continue to improve it before launch.
I like.
Why?
I am in a killer range.
During a fight between killers in ranked, is very hard to reach level 4 ender.
So, it’s a great prize see the animation and zoom if you reach the level 4.
Great idea.
Maybe a little of polish needed, but im ok.
I love the zoom effect during the ultra combo in killer instinct gold (n64), but the hardware cant do a great job with sprites,
Here all is show.
IMO
Jago’s fireball ender was shown and it looked a bit awkward. That’s one where people care about the timing to get the follow up instinct fireballs. But I suspect IG is more than aware of these kind of things. But, as with everything, if the timing has changed people will adjust to it.
I’m just trying to figure out why time and resources were used to needlessly change an aspect of the game that’s looked great the past 2 1/2 years and never even needed to be touched in the first place. It’s not like the community has been saying “You know I love this game, but I just really wish they’d change lvl 4 enders” So why spend resources changing something that never even needed attention? It’d be like if someone on the VFX team said “Hey, lets make electric sparks shoot out of the fighter’s hands/ feet every time they do a heavy auto-double!” Like, what? Why? It’s completely unneeded.
It doesn’t even logically make sense, why is the entire stage being covered in shadow when shadow meter wasn’t even used?
Motion blur, the new lighting, improved animations, the updated UI/ character select etc. vastly improved the presentation of this game, and this new ‘clunky camera angle, and black-out the stage’ just because someone did a lvl 4 ender (which if you have a basic understanding of how to play the game, happens quite frequently) detracts from it as well as the gameplay, it’s jarring and it completely mentally took me out of the matches I was watching.
Would a dev mind giving a little insight on this, and letting us know if our feedback will be taken into consideration? Obviously there are reasons why this is seen as a controversial change.
No man. This is not a minority. Not on this topic.
Here are the opinions that completely distort your question: “needless” “for the worse” “looked great the past 2 1/2 years” “never needed to be touched.” If you want an honest answer you have to ask an honest question.
Tons of people complained about motion blur, tons of people are complaining about the new lighting and now people are complaining about the UI/character select too. There’s nothing that people won’t complain about.
Lots of people, since the day the game launched, have asked for upgraded visuals and effects for different things. They are trying to add some visual flair to the game. It’s perfectly legitimate to say you don’t like what they’ve done, but it’s completely unfair to ask “why did you even try?”
Yeah, 100% agree this new effect should be used for level 4 shadow enders instead.
Also to add on to your point. IG didn’t do anything rigorous in the lvl 4 animations. They really just slowed down the animations and put a cinematic set behind it from my view. The camera angles were different, but I don’t see anything that makes me say. “Oh wow this is something that adds to the game” not yet at least. It seems like they wanted to throw us a bone since we weren’t getting ultimates. Also, maybe they thought it was a cool gimmick for spectacle. I don’t know. What I do know is, the majority of people posting here do not favor this new aspect of gameplay AS IS. Really hope it’s better.
Yeah, I would be careful (very careful) about asserting what the majority thinks. Negative posts will always outnumber positives - for lots of reasons. And if you look at every thread on here it has usually 10x more views than posts. So unless they conduct a scientific poll you can’t really know what “the majority” thinks.
I’m on the side of the detractors at the moment. Maybe its because its the first time I’m seeing it, they need refining. I don’t agree with the disorienting thing (just a matter of getting used to it) and the timing thing (apparently Keits has said the timings have not changed). I like that they chose to do something with the level 4 enders and its a WIP, I hope it looks and works much better at launch in front of me.
you guys forget. on a dropped combo the player keeps a certain level ender for a small amount of time. A dropped level 4 combo into a reset put the player at opener ender rules. Opener ender are breakable and these effects mixed with a combo breaker into flip out is gonna be seizure inducing. mark my words folks.
Hmp. Makes sense. I retract that then.
Thats only if the shadow effect triggered on opener ender. Opener ender doesn’t cash out damage, so think it wouldn’t trigger the shadow effect. If it did, then I agree with you.
Using this feature on stage 4 shadow enders is actually a good idea if this is to be kept. I pull off stage 4 enders pretty frequently lol, don’t wanna get the spins haha
Game is still launching in two weeks, right?
I like the new effects ![]()
and I’m with Andy, if the people really were in such an uproar, this thread would have already reached 600 posts.
Lets wait and see though till we can try for ourselves if it really throws of timing, etc…before we claim things that might not be the case.
Yeah, hopefully it’ll be something that will just need a bit of tweaking at most. I like it the ender animation, but I just don’t want it to take away from the gameplay. Hopefully it won’t.
