Title says it all. IG said, I believe, that they didn’t have time in the schedule to make the other stages. Yet, here we have all this Shadow Lords stuff and now new chars, but IMO, we shouldn’t be moving on before we finish what was started.
Also, in one of the official posts from the team, they said they knew people were asking for stages for Mira and Eyedol. No no no. The people asking for stages are asking for ALL the chars. Nobody is asking for only Mira and Eyedol and it seems kind of wrong that they would say that. Almost like they’re saying we will get stages for them, but not RAAM or Rash, which if that is the case, why not just say that instead of a lie like people are asking for only Mira and Eyedol?
Yes the latter are guest chars, but so was Arbiter and the other two are pretty much owned by Microsoft as well, right?
They aren’t missing. Sorry OP but you just aren’t getting the message. They never said they just didn’t have time to make stages. They said they devoted the resources elsewhere - to other priorities. Adding stages to the game just isn’t a priority.
I love stages too. But honestly, I hit random when it comes up and then don’t think about it again. So do 90% of other people.
Most modern 3D fighters no longer have a dedicated stage for each character, especially when the cast is larger (Only exception I can think of is VF5?). As much as I would like to see a Rash stage, I’m glad we at least get dedicated theme music, and there’s enough stages now to keep things from ever getting dull.
Always random… well, sometimes I feel like playing on a particular stage but its… mostly random.
As much as I’d like to see stages, I’m really enjoying the stuff we’re getting instead.
Stages are awesome. I hit random but i always miss them. Characters look unfinished/not fully supported without their stages. This game is forever. I don’t want to miss them forever. IG before you finish this game after season 5 (at least) please make all the stages.
I just want them to make re-skinned or re-colored versions of existing stages (kinda like how SFV has day/night ones) just so each character can have a home stage that can be selected from the stage menus without having to fiddle around with the music select.
The music select is fine on paper, but in practice, you just want to pick a stage and go. Many of those awesome tracks from Celldweller and Atlas Plug may as well not exist, because you never hear them in game. That’s a real shame, because after watching the ‘making of’ videos, it was clear a lot of passion went into them. They deserve to be heard more, and I just can’t see people manually choosing music all the time.
I’m hoping doing something like that would be much more feasible than making a new stage from scratch. If they’re working on stuff like Kilgore and other character alternates, perhaps the art team could be doing some stage re-skinning in parallel. (I’m not sure who does what).
I really don’t care about stages or colors or whatever. Yes they are great and if they are available I have to have them…but if they aren’t available then they just aren’t. Im just happy to have a KI that is still alive. Whatever they create and bring to the game…Im all for it. If it isn’t there..o’well.
I do enjoy seeing the re-imagined stages and the new stages by the raven guy. But at the end of the day when I fire up KI and start playing matches…Im not even thinking about stages. I just random unless I decide to choose a stage to blend in my color choice for Omen.
Personally I absolutely love stages and KI has some of the all time best in my opinion. Whatever it’d take to get states for rash, Mira, Raam, and eyedol, id gladly do.
I’m not particularly surprised. I’ve wanted at least a stage for Mira (and for Eyedol to be moved to the Astral Plane because OMG his theme is perfect for that stage) for quite some time now, but I’ve kinda given up on the idea. Sure, I’ll never be happy about it, but I’ll live. I’ll harp about it occasionally, but I think there are other things I want that are more reasonable to expect.
On the upside, Kilgore is a character I’m actually perfectly content to have share Fulgore’s stage. He is a prototype after all. Same with Shago and Omen, and if Eyedol and Gargos shared the Astral Plane I’d be more than content.
Fully original characters should have their own stages. I think it’s an awesome precedent to set for KI. It’s something KI can say they do that no other fighting game does - to help flesh out the lore of each character.
That said, I think we can do without guest character stages. We did not need an arbiter stage (although it’s cool). We do not need a Rash stage.
Yeah, I don’t think there’s a compelling reason to give Kilgore a stage. Although I’m sure everyone could imagine something cool. But seriously, how many stages do we want? A stage per character was awesome at 6 characters and great at 16. But I don’t feel like we really need 29 stages…
I love stages and I love the stages in KI. But content doesn’t just fall off a tree and there’s really no choice in my mind between characters or stages.
We totally do need 29 stages, but I’ll take what I can get
Like I said, I’d prefer everyone to have their own stages, but I’m fine with certain characters sharing stages, and guests I can deal with not having them. But characters like Mira should totally have their own stage.
Firstly, the final product given out has been great. I’m no game developer, just a consumer. I’ve been relatively pretty ■■■■ happy with their efforts.
Secondly, this stage clamor is getting to me, so i went and did some digging…
Killer Instinct - 26 characters - 21 stages
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 - 50 characters - 20 stages?
Mortal Kombat XL - 33 characters - 14 stages?
Guilty Gear Revelator - 23 characters - 19 stages?
Dead or Alive 5 Last Round - 34 characters - 34 stages?**
King of Fighters 14 - 50 characters - 18 stages?
Super Smash Bros for WiiU - 58 characters (including 3 Mii-type custom fighters) - 55 stages***
Marvel vs Capcom 2 - 56 characters - 13-14’ish stages?
All are popular games, all most of us know of, all maybe less of us have played or seen played. There are two games listed that match the number of characters to the number of stages out of seven. Not even a majority. And half the time, especially in games like Mortal Kombat XL, Injustice, and Smash, the stages have a direct bearing on how you fight the match. Killer Instinct is not entitled to make one stage per character, especially guests to whom the holder of their rights has, likely, every say in how their character is presented.
New stages are gonna keep being demanded because IG has opened themselves up to hearing about the good and the bad from these forums. In the game on the whole, in my opinion, stages are not unfinished business. They’re a sexy element that adds onto and expands how deep this game is. They’re not nearly the core of what makes this game great, and that’s been what they, and we, have focused our attention on.
Having said that, i know the demand is not gonna stop…

**I think some stages of DOA are only playable in certain modes, and are variations of one another ***Obviously, Smash is a unique game in how it’s interactables, limits and platform style stages are a core to its experience.
Personally I think Eyedol and Mira need a stage I don’t think guests really need one. I mean I’m ok with kanra and eyedol sharing a stage make sense… so I’m fine with eyedol not getting one. Fulgore and Derp bot sharing a stage makes sense. Guests don’t need stages (I’m surprised we got a halo stage). Mira sharing sabrewulf stage makes no sense. I mean sure they are both characters who theoretically live in castles… but the castle is sabrewulfs home and lab. seems odd to share it with mira.
Do I want more stages heck yes. but at this point only if it themeatically makes sense. Like if we get a sharkman or an ent. I would love to see a underwater stage or a forest stage respectfully.
Id also like to see them add a stage ultra or two to some season one stages.
But overall I think were pretty good on stages atm.
