… She even has the same stance…
-sigh-
It looks ridiculous, when you know she is in that stance because she leans onto her naginata… and now she’s not even doing that, yet she keeps the pose.

Once again being optimistic here. We are assuming that this screen shot depicts a completed product. It is still possible that her stance hasn’t been fixed yet. I’m trying to be optimistic here because obviously that’s not the proper stance, and obviously not a complete product because the stance does make her look akward.
is that Sword facing the same way on both positions?
OMG it even is!!! XD
Come on, IG… you can do better than this… hopefully this isn’ what people are gonna get.
Confirmed dev kit bug. It will be fixed for launch
Now, go to the memes thread and have fun with the ones people already did XD
It’s a sakabato, a sword with the blade on the back instead of the front. Basically Shinsako is a pacifist but when she wants to kill she flips her blade over.
That’s at least something.
Doesn’t change that the stance is still really awkward.
Hmmm I’m wondering if her instinct is an alternative stance.
The teaser clearly shows a different demeanor, I think we saw an instinct cinematic not an intro.
like ABA
Bruh her gameplay better be some crazy stuff cuz I ain’t convinced to buy her at all. That idle stance bothers me too much.
Thinking why Shin Hisako’s standing pose still has the “uses the weapon to maintain posture” effect, maybe the sword is possessed and floats in mid-air, so Hisako can hold on to it the way she does with her naginata?
That could explain how Shin Hisako would walk faster.
These two wielders seem to be holding them right- maybe it was a budget issue
They should have just straightened out her legs like Mira who seems to have the tin man effect- watch her waist in her intro- it’s literally a robot - like swivel of the lower half
The way she’s holding the katana, straight up next to her like that, is not an unusual way of holding a katana or a sword overall. It’s called the Hasso no Kamae, according to this video:
(It’s at 5:22, if the video somehow doesn’t start there)
It’s the rest of her body that’s a problem. First of all, it’s clear that it’s exactly like normal Hisako’s stance. And she stands like that because she uses her naginata to lean on. But with a katana in hand, it looks so weird with those knees bent and her body collapsed like that with nothing to hold her standing up.
Thanks for clarifying that the sword stance is a real thing. Fact based discussions are so much more fun than… other discussions.
It’s tough to argue that Shin Hisako’s stance doesn’t look weird. More than the sword, or even the hunched back, to me her leg/foot placement just looks really bizarre in this context. When people were still speculating about remix animations and moves for the unnamed katana wielding character, I was really curious how they would deal with Hisako’s very specific rig and animations. I thought (and still think) that it was an elegant solution to just make the katana character Hisako, literally, using the sword. But it’s clear this isn’t going to solve the problem completely.
They are a bit of a victim of their own success here because (even as someone who is meh on Hisako) it’s pretty easy to recognize that Hisako is an incredibly detailed and original character. Everything about her communicates the nature of the character. Her awkward body posture, leaning on the naginata, hunched over with her feet splayed at odd angles. This all effectively communicates that this is a dead thing. She’s part zombie, part wraith, and part samurai girl. As a package, Hisako’s parts all function incredibly well together. And herein lies the problem.
You can’t just slap a sword in her hand and say “bingo, something different!” I’m not willing to write her off at this point, because the way she moves (which I didn’t get to see yet) and the way her moves come out are going to matter a lot. But this is definitely the challenge of taking such a radically different character and remixing her. Is there any other character in the game who doesn’t simply stand there (basically)? Maybe Sabrewulf because of his similar hunched and specific body type.
I will just say that, if the choice is between awkward looking but well done animations from OG Hisako, and hastily assembled, low quality animations (like the ones in Jago’s ultimate, or the teaser reveal for Shin Hisako- which just look like someone is dragging around puppet limbs to get the job done without any sense of weight or attention to real human movement), then I would definitely vote for the awkward but well done animations from OG Hisako. We’ll get used to the fact that she’s still dead, but having the type of animation from the tease in the game would be really disruptive - at least in my opinion.
Why doesn’t his…shin hisako just flip the sword so that she can lean on it… I feel like that would look more natural.
I would just use Tusk stance, but with her back in the other side
Yeah, that stance looks really silly when she’s holding a sword. She’s like a drunken samurai.
See… THAT would have been AWESOME!
Debating when I show off my chibi art of her that it’s an in game stance (which Iv’e done with everybody) or a altered one with a unique pose
Hisako was born with MS. Criticism could be considered hate speech.
Nah, this is constructive criticism. There is a difference.
Personally I think hate speech has become more of an excuse. A smoke screen for those who can’t take constructive criticism.
