Key word being “if”. Either way, pretty dang rad!
Well to be fair, I have had this video planned for about 3 months. We built in time for editing, and the deadline being on a Friday (with more than enough review time) really means I would need it by the time I open my email Monday morning. Can still operate all the same.
Long story short, it’s coming soon. Still targeting the 7th.

Awesome!
So editing must mean a character trailer???
What? No. Every video goes through editing. Even people who made Vines technically edited their clips.
Can confirm just from my limited experience with Xbox Game DVR, Windows Moviemaker, and Adobe that making a proper video takes a lot of work.
And it’s not just editing. First you need to actually get all the assets you need. Assuming it’s some sort of Patch Notes video, we need live action footage of Rukari, in game footage to show off any changes that may be coming, animated slides with information, and script writing.
All of these things will probably be need to be done several times: rough drafts, reshoots, corrupted files and other errors, and the occasional coffee break all extend the working process.
Then all the editing goodies get to go down. Music and audio mixing, transitions, etc.
Even with a decent size team (especially so, actually, since there needs to be a lot of communication) these things take time. So we could all stand to give our CM a bit of slack if it takes longer than we’d like. ![]()
Which 7th?.. never mind
enters reminder for the 7th of every month in calendar
Bane of my existence. Did you see what I was doing Friday?
Funny story. Wrote a version, then got a new laptop on Wednesday. Wiped the old one thinking I had it saved elsewhere. Whoops. Rewrite happened during the shoot. Luckily I am very good at being on camera, and knew what I wanted to say. Didn’t take too long.
So not really many drafts, reshoots, or the like. Come in for an hour. Knock it out. Wait to see a cut. Believe it or not the worst part of this is having to capture the footage. Or rephrased - having to play video games at work. Cannot complain at all.
I know the feeling. I’ve actually got an assignment in one of my college courses about Character Design, so all the doodles I usually do in my notebook to pass the time are now an essential part of my degree program. Who’da thunk it? ![]()
As someone that tried to do a youtube channel with a kid with severe ADHD I can completely relate to this.
…soooo much editing…
I have to ask, why have guest characters in your poll? The info in the tease is taken directly from a guardian dossier in Shadow Lords, which means it’s part of the canon story. Guests may have dossiers, but their not part of the canon story, so outside of Hisako’s father, do you think that the other three options you have there are viable? Just wondering.
That certainly seems possible. We don’t have a zombie character yet, though a zombie samurai seems like a bit of an odd choice. Still, as was pointed out, rebirth could mean a lot of things. Perhaps someone brought back to life without being some form of undead, of which the options are certainly numerous.
That could very well be what Rukari’s video, tentatively scheduled to drop on 3/7 could be about. However, given how much hype they generated at KIWC last year by doing the rebalance patch notes live, I wonder if they’ll do that again this year?
Of course, 3.7 hasn’t been deemed a rebalance patch by anyone yet, so maybe there’s not enough to classify it that way and thus, maybe it’s not at KIWC after all.
This would make sense given that Rukari said the hardest part was capturing everything. To me, that sounds like patch-related stuff, especially given how far back they began planning for this video.
I suppose that could also be for the character as well, and maybe the capture work is for their move list, but that just seems like an odd thing to give away prior to KIWC.
TL/DR: I think you’re probably right. ![]()
I really hope so! I’m hoping that this patch is a substantial one. Not just with bug fixes, but with new moves and character rebalancing. I’m guessing that won’t happen, but seeing all the rebalance stuff and the pros reactions live, in one room, was one of the coolest things I’ve seen them do with this game, so I’d love to see something like that again.
Obviously, I’m also hoping to see the next character broken down in depth by Keits and crew, and I’m really hoping we get a tease of character 3. At this point, I’d almost be surprised if that wasn’t the direction they decide to go in, but all of that stuff together would make for one amazing KI weekend and who knows, maybe they have some other surprises in store?
Here’s hoping! Man… Cannot WAIT for KIWC!!
That’s the joke.
Ah, sorry. Little slow on the draw there lol. I’m going to chalk it up to this being Monday and my brain still being in Sleepy Land, even at noon.
Thanks!
Oh.. I’m sorry -
still hope it’s something really awesome
Bubb… I miss ya. Come back soon.
But don’t slouch. That’s loser talk.
@TotalJimkata is stirring the pot even further on Twitter.
So the new character is a Goth?
They like to dance?
They represent?
James is messing with us?
Just saw that too. Exceedingly confused. At least he confirmed that the katana is a hint for a new character and not a guardian as some suggested.
But then there’s this video. Is it a joke? Is the character a raver, goth, a rhythm based “dancing” character? Am I reading waaaaaay too much in to something that’s probably a joke or is this video an actual clue?
That’s what I find the most fun about clues and such. Is it not worth it? Or is there a deeper meaning?
