New character revealed: Shin Hisako!

Well, It’s got me theory-crafting, so that’s a good start. Looks like I’ll have to dig a bit deeper in the lore, see what I find, and craft some more.

This is fun.

Speaking of which, does anyone know what those words say on the Katana? Could be an Important Clue.

Well, seems to me pretty clear that the sword itself is probably that of Hisako’s father. Did she then somehow encourage some unbound guardian that it would be worthwhile to bond itself to that weapon, perhaps with the promise that she would find a suitable wielder for it?

Hisako has basically just been baby-sitting the other guardians’ hosts to some (limited) extent per the lore: saving Kim from Shago, returning Tusk’s memories. I can see her being connected to this one in terms of actually finding someone to bond with the weapon.

So long as the ultimate wielder isn’t Sako’s zombie father or a zombie bandit or whatever, I’ll be content.

My guess is almost true! :open_mouth:

@BoJima404?

EDIT: realizes that it’s 4am on your side of the world

(Let’s just say she is watching it)

Something tells me she’s been holding on to it because it is of Upmost importance to her. It’s not a host she’s watching, she’s watching the Katana. That means It might be connected to her in some way that she feels the need to stay close by it.

I thought the Naginata Hisako wielded was her father’s.

True, no family arms collection is complete without a kitana, but still…

Why does everyone keep on calling it a kitana? Lol.

Too much Mortal Kombat. It’s ruined a bunch of people’s spelling of random things over the years…

And samurai were often trained in multiple weapons. A man might own and know how to use a spear or naginata, but also own and be proficient with swords. Historically Japanese women, if taught to fight, were taught exclusively the spear, but a trained samurai was generally at least decently proficient with multiple weapon types.

Dyslexia…

If I spelled it wrong that is. Otherwise ignorance of weapons is the other reason.

It’s kinda strange when you look at it this way, but if the new katana wielder has a real connection to her, like say it’s her father, then she’s certainly one of the more connected characters from a story perspective. Almost kinda makes her one of the main characters IMO, if there is such a thing.

She’s presumably kept tabs on Tusk and whoever was holding the dragon spirit at the time (so Kim’s uncle before her), so I don’t think it strange that she’d also communicate and/or keep tabs on the katana guardian. Yes the sword had particular significance to Sako because it belonged to her father, but more importantly, as another “Watcher of the Gate” or whatever, it’s Hisako’s duty to ensure the guardian attached to it finds a worthy home/user.

When she finds that person she’ll give the sword to them. That’s my current theory anyway.

Looking into the lore of Hisako, she was in fact trained with a Katana, as well as a Sword, Bow, and Her weapon of choice: The Naginata.

Reading into her Story, this stuck out to me:

But then she was visited by the spirit of her beloved father who warned her that both the Astral Plane and the mundane world were under impending danger.

That means that the Spirit of Hisako’s Father is still alive in the same sense Hisako is “Alive.” Hisako has his Naginata with his red cloth from his late Shogun’s battle for remembrance. That’s hers. So, if Hisako IS a Guardian in the flesh herself, It could be that Hisako’s Father could be infused with the Sword itself, in the same way Tusk’s Sword “Warg-gram” and Kim’s Dragon Spirit Yeo, can form as a weapon to help. So Yeah, could be a possibility Hisako is guarding it to give it to someone.

(Hisako’s theme just came up on my playlist. Is it a sign?)

So she’s saving it for her senpai? :joy:

I’m sorry but I had to.

So, like what if this new guy is a Hisako remix?

I’m totally expecting that

@xCrimsonLegendx so many of Hisako’s moves translate so easily to a sword bearing character that I would be astonished if this wasn’t a remix based around a large number of her moves. Maybe throw in a couple of Tusks and a few Jago, Shago and Spinal sword animations for good measure and voila.

The biggest issue will be with Hisako’s size and posture, which might make using the animations on a different character difficult. But as @Dayv0 mentioned her linker where she passes through with a slashing motion? That will be in there for sure either as a linked or (more likely) as a special move animation.

Maybe it will give me a chance to play something Hisako-Related, because I love that character, her lore and everything about her, but she’s so hard to play, and slightly not my style. lol

(Shout out to Hisako Mains)

Joanna Dark?

Since Hisako moves are very fast, I could see them being used with another stance, and since she is so small, some subtle animations could be more appreciated(and seem different without actually being different) in a larger character.

Also, Omen uses some Wulf and Jago animations without sharing the same stance, so I don’t see unlikely to see that with Hisako animations

I’m going to interrupt this thread to say that Hisako x Tusk is best ship. They’re both immortal guardians who’ve lost everything to try and defeat the forces of evil. And they both stab things and go “AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH”.
And if you read the shadow lords dossiers, she watched over him while he was in a coma and gave him a piece of her father’s flag to help him feel better after an attack by Shago. So I’m calling it canon.

Okay. Resume thread.
