Story mode dialogue bug. Not sure if it was fixed, however “that” appeared in a part of the story that I will not disclose at this time. Regardless of my distaste for WB Games and how MK1 looks like currently, I respect the story well enough to not spoil it so hastily.
Anyways, if Raiden and Johnny Cage got two voice actors, then Scorpion definitely should have.

Fair enough, Im not trying to knock digital gaming as a whole, rather just how companies fail to preserve their own content that doesn’t resort to piracy. Its just ironic to me that Mortal Kombat, the series always references its past games would willingly let MK1 and MK11’s unlocks be lost to time in future. Just seems very redundant in my opinion.
Gotta be honest, very surprised Kronika didn’t make it as the final roster slot.
Considering Geras is no longer under her control, would’ve been cool seeing her try to re-negotiate with him in the new timeline. Only for Geras to lay down the hammer, still having him side with Lui Kang.

Like… what was the point in hyping her up with a fancy trailer, when in storymode she sounds like shes half asleep?? Just glazing over her lines without any emotion. Like, what? lol
I dont know why, but for some reason I feel Milla Kunis would’ve been a much better casting choice for Nitara. If they had to go for a big named actress, least she’s actually done voiceover roles in the past. Under the right direction, she could’ve pulled it off imo.
(Although, that would mean Nitara would be voiced by Meg Griffon… considering what we ended up getting, thats a risk I’m willing to take.)
I actually played through invasion mode and unlocked the Hellfire Scorpion skin. Which is how you get it.
Over all though its not bad could it be better? yeah, but unlocking stuff works well.

Well I mean, invasion mode is gonna be completely different by the time I get the game and who knows what the rewards will even be so why bother even thinking about doing it the legit way.
Idk guys. MK1 feels like a real bust. I keep saying it because it’s just how I feel, but I want the pre-trilogy status quo back. The new era sucks. They couldn’t even entirely commit to it if what I’ve read about the story is correct. Why did they have to bring back so many cool characters in a capacity where they don’t feel like themselves and the game itself doesn’t feel like it actually cares about it’s playerbase because of the stupid invasion mode? It all just sucks so bad and it really hurts. Heck, I didn’t even WANT them to make another MK directly after the last one. They usually don’t. They usually alternate their franchises. They said they had a good reason for not, well… what was their good reason? Why not do something else that would actually satisfy people? It’s just so frustrating!
Considering all the fancy guest characters they keep including, instead of a new MK or Injustice, Id much rather prefer giving the guests their own fighting game to brawl in. Not anchoring them down to either series.
Think of it like “Multiversus” but with EVERY guest character thus far, and then some. Or better yet, the “Horror Movie Fighting Game” Ed Boon keeps clamoring for.

I will give some credit where its due, the roster for MK1 at the very least gave the 3D era more recognition. [spoiler](Reiko, Ashrah, Havik, Nitara, and Li Mei were definitely welcomed returns imo.)[/spoiler]
Granted, I really wished we’ve gotten a few more characters like Hotaru, Taven, Drahmin, or even a playable Sareena and Darius, but I will commend NRS for bringing back some old faces that were sorely missed.
Just wished the game’s launch wasnt so undercooked. Kinda sucks the fun right out of it tbh.

Because publishers and developers can’t seem to finish their games nor bring those old standards of video games, like “Game Overs” or “Fan-Service” costumes for female characters.
Live services games are the times that people want you to get with. You can guess what kind of fighting game that Mortal Kombat 1 really is right?

Out of all the things to complain about not having costumes where the girls have their ■■■■ out certainly is something.
Legit, why does this matter. Why do we need to kick people back to the main menu after they die an arbitrary number of times? Why do we need a demotivating “you loose” message? We move away from things for good reasons.
That’s a common complaint mind you.
Just because it’s “de-motivating” for you, doesn’t mean others agree. MK spefically needed game overs since MKX, but because (IMO) WB games and NRS is toooooo soft for both that and making their character at bit more, sexier in terms of cosmetics, they won’t do that.
If you can’t handle it, then that’s on you. It’s a game after all.
Speaking as a woman, that feels pretty reductive and offensive. These characters are more than just eye candy for you to oggle at.
This is the boomer quote of all boomer quotes. When they make games more accessible to more people so that more people can play them, and make them less bigoted in terms of how they portray minority groups like women and people of color, and your response is “that’s bad”, then I think the problem is with you good sir.
Then again these are the same people who got mad when I suggested adding a character who was trans just because of the idea of a trans character existing being "political (I guess me existing is political then), so why am I even surprised that these kinds of things are also being said here.

Okay lets not get it into a political banter here. I got my own feelings towards this but its not the place and please keep it civil.
The characters Specifically the ninjas don’t really appeal to me much though I get they tried to make scorpion and sub-zero twins. Reptile on the other hand I don’t mind the human skin coming back but I think they could’ve done more for him.
But so far it looks like alt skins will be coming so its not a big deal for me.
People existing and being kind to one another is not politics. But sure. Talk about the fantasy murder game’s fun costumes.
Cyberpunk being a good example of that.

I heard the anime is good, but I’ve never seen it. I Haven’t been keeping up with any of the game’s updates, so I couldn’t say if it did get better.
That launch was just one mistake after another.

As far as gameplay goes I do like the new combo system they have. Sure folks are cracking jokes about it, which can be funny when applied a certain way. But hey no combos would’ve made the gameplay less intense in my opinion.
Back to the topic at hand. MK1 had so much potential to be a great game, but I believe WB Games kept that from happening. I mean, don’t they own NRS?
I feel like the lack of “game over” or “You Died” texts really makes MK1 less gritty and more tame/soft for a game filled with violence.
What was demotivating about that when you saw it in Shaolin Monks, MK4, etc.?

I do miss the darker atmosphere from Deadly Alliance and Deception. Back when the world of Mortal Kombat actually felt terrifying, but also mysterious.
His reptilian form is growing on me too but I think it could of used more Iguana spikes on his back and maybe a basilisk traits too.
Though its cool that they added it to his move set in the game.
