I mean the whole “Bloodrayne” and “Johnny Lawrence” vibes they were based on are what made them cool in the first place, imo.
Maybe in the new timeline, considering Kabal isn’t involved atm, have the two become infamous mercenaries for hire, resulting in them both trying to sabotage the upcoming tournament by whoever tasked them to do so. Sorta filling the roles of Kano from the original MK. Then when Kabal does eventually come around, it could set up an interesting dynamic once the three are reunited.
Again, just because the 3D era didn’t give them alot to do, shouldn’t mean they couldn’t be improved upon in some fashion. But again, thats just me.
Also just a personal gripe, I was not a fan of the “Mad Max” style designs they gave them for MK Snowblind. In the context of the story it worked I guess, but I wouldnt want that to be their designs going forward should they come back. At best, maybe as a dlc skin pack.
I don’t know which is worse. Not liking the current directions MK and SF are going in or feeling like I’m the only one who doesn’t like the current direction. Meaning a change to something more palatable is almost certain to not happen.
Same thing happened with God of War. And Pokémon. And Sonic…. this sucks.
I just don’t like the concept of the new era. So many characters feel like they’re basically completely different ones and therefor not the ones that drew me to the MK series in the first place. And none of these new directions really interest me in the same way that the characters being reset to their iconic statuses pre-mk1 but going through a completely different story would.
It’s basically the problem I had with Sindel and Kabal in MK11 but spread to the entire roster.
Reptile as I mentioned is basically what he was in the original era. a reptilian that took on human. Though I will miss the scaly skin. But if that becomes an alt in some way that will make my issue with it more irrelevant.
That said, yeah I found some changes like Kuai Liang being scorpion and being the brother to Sub-zero is a bit skeptical.
It’s not a bad idea but I understand the changes are not welcomed by all.
Considering Scorpion and Sub-Zero are both and Johnny Cage is being added as a Kameo as DLC, I don’t think this game has the same “no double dipping for Kameos and playable characters” rule that say… smash bros has with assist trophies.
I kinda doubt they’d go this route for any potential future designs. I think this design choice was very much a product of the aesthetic they were trying to give everyone in the Black Dragon (including Kano) for that specific story.
Personally, if they do come back (and I’d love to see Kira return), I think it’d be cool if they leaned in to the more serious aspects of her original story. Granted, they didn’t give her much, but having her floating through the criminal underworld, disguised and surviving in the most tense way possible… Like I could see her as sort of like an evil Lara Croft almost, with a much darker edge to her. Maybe she’s ex-Black Dragon but she’s just trying to survive in the old life, but she’s drawn back to her old group to rescue the son she had with Kano that she thought was dead… or something.
Obviously that’s pretty bare bones, but it’s a start. I think just making here yet another Black Dragon thug is kinda played out, but that’s just me.
Do you have a positive reaction to a lot of new iterations on stuff you’ve enjoyed in the past or is it mostly negative? No judgment either way, just curious.
I’m curious about it. Makes me wonder what they’ll do with Hanzo, because they do seem to have plans for him. We’ll see. I’m hoping it’s more than what seems to be going on in Invasions but who knows.
I wouldn’t mind seeing him return. Bring back Mavado and Daegon too. I think they should’ve given the Red Dragon more of a chance. I’m not quite sure what you mean by him being the game’s Kano, but I’ve always thought that he had potential.
Im just saying if Kano doesn’t make the base roster, might as well come full circle by including the person he “borrowed” gimmicks from recently.
Ive clowned on Hsu Hao in the past, but if NRS actually took him seriously this time around, just like Bo Rai Cho in MKX, it could be a nice redemption arc for him.
