Is anyone else having trouble getting excited? Like, I enjoy Mortal Kombat. I love the characters and the gameplay. But I just can’t seem to get excited for this title.

maybe it’s because you feel you might be disappointed with whats going to be shown. Beleive me I have some of my concerns too. Mostly on who’s going to show up. I hope to see Reptile, Noob Saibot, ect. but there’s no telling.
I usually try not to get hype about games, to avoid getting disappointed.
But MK is the only franchise that can break through that wall! I’m super excited about tomorrow!

I really liked Tanya in MKX…not because of her competitive play style edge, but becasue I just thought she looked and sounds cool! Love the Naginata stance variation! I hope she returns!
Ive never liked Kitana! I cant stand her play style and the fan blade projectile style. OMG fighting a good Kitana is frustrating! And that ■■■■ running command grab …arrrghhhhh!! lol
Jade seems cool in MK9… she has a nice body for sho! lol…Id rather see Jade this time around than Melinna.
@CausingThought6 …no…not sure why you arent excited. If youa rent excited after tomorrow reveal then I feel you may be doomed… you are all doooooomed! lol

So here’s my final list:
Sonya Blade (or Cassie, depending on who Rhonda Rousey is playing)
Johnny Cage
Liu Kang
Kitana
Jade (or Noob or Shang Tsung. They’ll want to get in one of those highly requested trilogy characters)
Fujin (or Sareena or Li Mei. I think we get one of those cameo characters on the main roster this time)
Kronika (if that’s her real name… But yeah, seems odd not to show her after seeing her in the reveal)
Kano’s son
So yeah, eight characters in total seems about right. I don’t think we’ll get any real surprises and even Fujin might be a bit too bold of a guess. If they showed all trilogy characters and two newbies, I wouldn’t be surprised.
I could also see them showing someone like Erron Black or Kotal Khan, but given that this event is probably geared toward as much mainstream hype as possible, I think they’ll be sticking with the most recognizable characters while maybe throwing one bone to the more hardcore community. I hope I’m wrong on that though.

The more I’ve thought about it lately, the more I’m worried that the time aspect of this game will be used as more of an excuse to keep much of the trilogy cast intact in this game, and that would be a bit of a letdown for me.
I like those characters, don’t get me wrong (well, mainly MK1 and MK2), but for many, it’d be nice to see them take a game off so I had the chance to miss them for a bit. Mainly Sonya, Johnny Cage, Kano, Reptile, Jax, Mileena, Kung Lao and Ermac.
I really don’t want a situation where I’m coming in to MK11 and like 80% of the MKX cast is coming back, with only a few replacements here and there and then six or so new characters. I’d really like to see them fully realize characters they short-changed in the 3D era like Kai, Fujin, Reiko, Sareena, Havik, Kira, Hotaru, Ashrah, Drahmin, Mavado etc. If they can make Tanya, Bo Rai Cho, Tremor etc great, I think they could do it with any of these characters as well, as many of them have solid design elements, but just need work in certain key areas.
Give me a nice split of trilogy, 3D era, new era and new characters. Use DLC to bring back some more trilogy characters that people would be hyped to purchase along with maybe one of those fan service type characters like Skarlet, Tremor, etc. Maybe this time around its Tasia or Krome or Nimbus or whatever.
But if they’re just going to keep finding ways to get the trilogy cast as involved as possible, I worry a lot of those flawed but potentially compelling characters will be left in the dust while they instead keep cycling through trilogy cast members and adding new characters, which I think would be a shame.
So in that sense, I’m hyped for sure, but my hype is a bit tempered. If they surprise me, great! I’m hoping to be surprised. I’m just not counting on it.

Maybe. I’m just finding it hard to get excited for ANOTHER Mortal Kombat. I’ve said it before but I thought them breaking their pattern was a sign that they were doing something different. But no. They were just eliminating that long dry spell that always happens between announce and release.
Plus, the characters I want are probably not even gonna be in the game, let alone at the reveal. I’m interested in Sektor, Nightwolf, Stryker, Kabal, Frost, Havik, Skarlet, Daegon, Li Mei, Kira… a Klingon (weird idea I had in high school. Never gonna happen but it would be so cool!) So I guess you’re partially right. Don’t yell at me for being uncultured, but I think that Scott Cawthon (The creator of Five Nights at Freddy’s) said what I’m feeling in an interview. “I knew that if I just started releasing teasers again it wouldn’t work. That’s not gonna get people excited the same way it used to”. And that’s just what they’re doing. They’re just doing what they did in the past again with no obvious hype generating twist.
Im not surprised LOL..she falls into that Sadira category in my mind!

Honestly, a lot of those characters are at least plausible. I think Stryker and (unfortunately) Kira and (tears) Skarlet are the only three that seem really unlikely, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Sektor, Nightwolf, Kabal, Frost, Havik, Daegon or Li Mei showed up.
While I do worry that they’re just using the time theme to find ways of cramming as many trilogy characters in to the game as possible, I think we still need to be at least somewhat optimistic until they show us a reason to be more cynical as it relates to this game.
Now, like I said above, I think it’s entirely possible that tomorrow’s reveal is rather trilogy-heavy, with the mainstay type characters getting the spotlight. I just think it’s hard to believe they’d do this dual party thing on two continents and stream it live if they were going to reveal characters like Sareena and Reiko (as much as I’d like to see them).
But even if we get a healthy dose of MK1 and MK2 characters tomorrow, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. This party thing, I think, is probably geared more toward the casual side. Just a guess, of course, but it seems relatively logical. I think they’ll still have a few aces up their sleeves as we get closer to the release date.
So my feeling right now is optimism / tempered expectations. If we get Liu Kang and Kano and Jax all for the 500th time, I’m just hoping they look cool and are fun to play, even if I’d much prefer some more era variety and surprises.

I want Onaga and Hotaru. I have faith that those characters specifically have the potential to be really cool.

I can at least say with some small confidence that at least 3 of those characters might show up. I think Frost has a good shot among them though. Honestly though, my concern currently is Reptile. I know he’s alive, and I do know that, but I’m still waiting to see when they will reveal him. Will it happen during the community reveal? maybe, but you can’t know for sure. If I had to choose another character I’d like to see return as well it’d be rain.
I’m not gonna yell at you, that’s just your opinion and that’s okay. If I’m being honest though, I think you might want to refrain from trying to be concerned with how someone sets a bar. It’s just a suggestion though.
Eh. It’s just how the whole situation rubbed me. Not really anything I can do about it. I guess it is my fault for getting so wrapped up in how I thought things would unfold… oh well.
Also, I thought people were gonna throw me shade for liking and bringing up the Five Nights at Freddy’s series.
I may not be one of them, but i’m sure there are other fans of of the series among us. We all ahve one thing in common but each have different likes. Anyway, I personally am excited to see what they will give us, but also to be realistic about it too.
