Mortal Kombat 11

Reptile would be Fn sick in MK11…I really hope he makes it.

that’s funny, but legit request as far as i’m concerned.

I don’t know. I’ve always been sick of people complaining about missing ninjas. I think it’s better to give other, more unique characters the spotlight.

But didn’t you want everyone to return in the first place? You kept treating MK11 like some weird analogue of life, where you can either have good gameplay or all characters but not both (and were unhappy about this fact). Not trying to start something, but it does seem weird to have you not want specific legacy characters now after all of that.

But anyways, tomorrow is the supposed date where they show off all of the characters in the Kombat Pass. I personally want to see how they fix Sindel, since every other character on the roster took all of her old gimmicks at this point.

Also, @FallofSeraphs76

In MKX, I just found out they released Gold Scorpion, Blue Steel Sub-Zero, and Krimson Ermac for free on the Xbox Marketplace (probably everywhere else as well). I don’t know if you still play MKX, but if I recall you said that Gold Scorpion was the one skin you wanted but could never get.

Yeah Boon said either right before or right after that he didn’t mind players requesting characters because so many have bought the game and played and he linked to an article about how well MK11’s sold. He was appreciative, so I love the trolling part of “don’t ask me for characters” in his other post. Thought that was pretty funny. :joy:

Yeah. Sure. It would be great to have everyone back. But if we can’t, then i’d rather shine the spotlight on some new/forgotten faces.

while it’s fine if you think that way, I personally would love to see Reptile or other ninjas make a come back. As far as uniqueness is concerned they’ve been made quite different form one another sense their days as pallet swaps. Some of which now make it clear they are not human like Reptile for instance.

Personally I don’t blame them. practically had their favorites left out completely. Just like the ones who want in non-ninja characters. Heck I’m sure their might be some fans of characters like kobra or meat out there, even though I personally don’t like Kobra. But someone out there does and that’s fine as well.

I seen that the other day! I grabbed it! My collection is now KOMPLETE!!! lol

Well. That datamine is all but confirmed. Wonder who’s gonna come with Ash, Fujin, and Sheeva. Hope it’s not Mileena.

Also, why does The Joker look like Ellen De Generis?

I wasn’t aware that a part of the MK fanbase could combine to be so obnoxious that it’d actively make me hate a character and make me not want them in the game until the Mileena hive came along. I’m not talking about just regular, every day Mileena fans mind you, just the people that spam every comment a Netherealm dev makes. She can stay out of the next ten games for all I care lol.

Yeah Joker looks a bit odd. I kinda thought they’d make him look similar to how he looks in the new movie, though that’ll probably be a skin, I’d imagine. Either way, not the best. Almost kinda reminds me of the version of Joker from Injustice 2 that’s not really Joker. Isn’t it Jason Todd? I dunno. Either way, I’m sure he’ll be fine and maybe that’s just an early look at him and they’ll make some changes, updates, etc.

At this point I’m just hoping they actually give us some cool MK characters with Ash, Fujin and Sheeva, though I’m assuming at least two of them will be guests.

Or who knows. Maybe they just decide to do a sort of mini-season of DLC so there are nine characters in total. I hope not. Seems like kind of a waste given how well this game has done, but it’s not as though nine is a small number by any stretch.

As for this group, it’s fine. Probably one more guest than I would’ve preferred, but given that Terminator and Joker both have movies coming out and Spawn is as popular among MK fans as he is, I’m not surprised. I actually like this group of guests here. Just wish we could have more MK characters, but oh well. Also not a big fan of Nightwolf or Sindel, so that’s part of it, I suppose.

I just want more 3D era characters and outside of Fujin, its very unlikely that we’ll see more. Can’t see them putting Sareena, Kai, Nitara, Reiko, Havik or others in this game unless they really decide to keep this gravy train going for a looooong time. I wouldn’t mind that, but I imagine the returns will diminish after a while.

Lol. That’s how I felt about Eyedol fans in KI. I was actively rooting against him by the end of it :joy:

At this point, my biggest hope is for Ashrah. I think she’s the most interesting of the 3D characters. After her though, I really don’t know which guest characters they could add. Although I am partial to Guts from Berserk. Would love to see how NRS adapts an anime/manga character.

I would love it if they did a season 3. That’s something they just haven’t really done before and it is starting to become semi-common. I mean, Tekken is doing it. Street Fighter V did it. It’s way more money per unit of content for the devs than a full game. I could see them sticking around for just that little bit extra time. Especially if they’re going to use this new announcement model for Injustice 3. They gotta full the time with something after all.

Plus, they are kind of running out of Trilogy characters to include. I mean, there’s the ninjas, the cyber ninjas… Goro (who they won’t repeat)… am I missing anything or anyone?

Hahaha! No kidding. I still wanted Eyedol, but the rampant spamming by some was way too much. With Mileena, I don’t even know where this came from. She’s always had a following like most earlier MK characters, but man, don’t include her in a game and all of a sudden people come out of the freakin woodwork lol.

Honestly, given her backstory, I think she’d have been a better agent for Kronika than Frost, or better yet, why not both?

God I’m hoping it’s just Ash and Ash alone. Sure, I’d love to see The Crow or Raziel & Kain from Legacy of Kain / Soul Reaver, or Sweet Tooth and Fulgore or any number of other guests, but I’m hoping that by the time KP2 is ready to arrive, NRS will be catering more to the MK fans that have stuck around so long than trying to lure the more casual fans back. Who knows.

If I had my choice, given what we already know, I’d personally go with Sheeva, Fujin, Ash Williams, Sareena, Takeda and an obscure Tremor-ish type character, like Tasia or Hydro. But that’s just me.

Yeah I’m inclined to agree. You look at the long tails Tekken 7 and Street Fighter V have had and while I know SFV didn’t release with a particularly large roster, it does seem more common to release content over a far more sustained period of time than what NRS has traditionally done in the past. I mean, even Soul Calibur VI, which I can’t imagine has sold like absolute gangbusters now has a second season coming as well and you know MvCi would’ve done the same had it not done so poorly out of the gate.

Conversely, MK11 has been an absolute juggernaut in terms of sales. It’s currently the best selling game of 2019. When was the last time a fighting game was the best seller of the year eight months in? I could be wrong, but I’m willing to guess it’s been a LONG time.

Granted, I’m sure that’ll change the longer Madden’s out and when the next Call of Duty hits and whatever other heavy hitters arrive in the Fall, but still… For a fighting game to be THIS big, and for an NRS game to be this well received in the FGC, plus there are no big new fighting games on the horizon that I can recall. Why wouldn’t they keep this going as long as possible?

I mean, maybe it’s a matter of manpower, but would it be horribly inconceivable for NRS to continue releasing MK11 characters even after Injustice 3 is announced? I know that’s not how they typically do things, but still. If the demand continues to be high, I see no reason why they shouldn’t keep the money train on the tracks.

MK has two great things going for it: NRS does guest characters exceptionally well and MK has a massive list of characters from the trilogy era, the 3D era, the new trilogy era as well as several obscure characters. They could release several combat packs and still have characters left over.

To your question, the remaining trilogy characters are Goro, Reptile, Human Smoke, Mileena, Kintaro, Sektor, Cyrax, Cyber Smoke, Stryker, Chameleon, Khameleon, Ermac, Motaro and Rain. Obviously they’ve already sold Goro and Rain before and Reptile, Smoke, Ermac and Rain being special moves for Shang Tsung likely limits their chances of being in the game, but it’s not like they couldn’t put those characters in without the moves Shang Tsung was given, or with them, I suppose.

They also have Sareena, Shinnok, Quan Chi, Jarek, Kai, Fujin, Meat, Reiko, Tanya, Blaze, Bo Rai Cho, Drahmin, Mavado, Kenshi, Hsu Hao, Li Mei, Moloch, Mokap, Nitara, Dairou, Ashrah, Kira, Darrius, Kobra, Havik, Hotaru, Onaga, Shujinko, Taven, Daegon, Ferra/Torr, Takeda and Kung Jin.

As for obscure characters, they have Tasia, No-Face, Tremor, Hydro, Argus, Delia, King Gorbak, Shadow Priests, characters from the movie like Art Lean and so on and so on.

So yeah, I’d love it if they kept going with characters. I know that doesn’t help in terms of tourney matchups and what not when the roster gets too big, but I’d have to think that by the time a theoretical KP3 was coming out, MK11 wouldn’t be in big tournaments anymore and it’d more likely be in preparation for a coinciding launch of the MK movie.

Well it’s official: Between this, Gears 5, Ghost Recon, and Bloodharvest, Terminator is basically the Shovel Knight of M-Rated crossovers now.

Joker looks off though, like they tried to make a generic version that contains aspects of actors that played him in the past (the face paint looks very similar to Heath Ledger’s portrayal of Joker from The Dark Knight). Surprised they didn’t use his face model from Injustice 2 honestly, but I care more for how they’ll handle him in MK11 (maybe not bottom-tier like Injustice?). And Spawn actually has his cape, let’s see if it has any bearing on gameplay (maybe cape moves replace some chain moves in variations).

Not surprised Terminator gets priority over Sindel in terms of release date, since apparently his movie is coming out soon. Really bummed how we’re getting nothing this month though, and have to have so long for Joker and Spawn (2 month wait time for them compared to Terminator/Sindel). Really good though, still waiting to see how Sindel has been reworked since all she has left is the scream and hair moves (Raiden basically stole her flight this time around, like Ermac did in MKX).

I don’t know. I’m a long term MK fan and I love guest characters. I don’t know why. I just love crossovers. The more the merrier.

Why Takeda? I’m all for Tasia or Hydro. But my choice would be Asgaarth from the cartoon. Oh. And also Ashrah. Maybe Daegon too. I’ve always wanted Daegon.

The ninjas are all pretty much out. Between Shang Tsung, Kitana using Mileena moves, and the story mode fights, NRS will probably stay away from them. Even if I desperately want my ro-baby Sektor back. Ed boon hates the Chameleons and they’ve been avoiding Motaro like the plague because they don’t have the technology or programming finesse to do him in 3D. Even as an unplayable boss. But I would love to see Stryker make a comeback. Always was one of my favorites. He reminds me of my grandfather when he was younger, at least based on the pictures and tapes i’ve seen.

Kenshi, Tanya, and Bo’Rai Cho won’t be in be in because they were DLC in the past. And call me crazy, but they tend to want DLC to be “new ideas” so I imagine that most of the characters from MKXL are kind of off limits. But I would love to see almost everyone you listed join the fight. I think they all have potential. I am partial to Li Mei and Kira though.

I don’t know. Tekken 7 has been going with dlc until it had almost 50 characters. And it’s still in tournaments. I’m sure they can manage if they add them at a decent pace and give time for players to get used to things.

Remember that old fake leak that said that the movie would introduce a new character and he’d then feature in the game? What if they did that for the DLC?

Takeda was cool, I always said his Lasher variation is what MK9 Kratos should have been (instead of that weird bruiser playstyle with a universal parry move that we ended up with). He also had Sektor’s energy swords from MK:Armageddon, and was one of the few characters who felt truly unique with each variation. If they did so much to redesign Jacqui’s gameplay it would be easy to do that with Takeda, since most of the work was done in MKX.

I agree with Tasia, maybe No-Face as well if they don’t just rip off the TF2 Pyro or something. I don’t think they can use Asgaarth or Karbrac or anyone else from the cartoons though, since it’s not known if they even own them anymore (like how KI doesn’t own the characters from the old 90s comics). At this point it would probably be like asking for Pantherk, despite that character being a fan-made MUGEN creation (but then again I wanted Belokk so what do I know).

Also Daegon needs to be remade to not just be a Shao Khan knockoff with swords.

I think Triborg actually ruined that chance, since he had all of their movesets. And considering he was treated as Sektor 2.0 in many ways (canon notwithstanding) Ed Boon might not let them in on a Technicality.

Also Erron Black functionally replaced Stryker, like it or not (which I don’t). Kira was rejected because Skarlet was already the “Lady in Red” character (which pretty much deconfirms Nitara too), and characters like Li Mei and Sareena are basically reduced to NPCs at this point (Frost escaped that limbo).

On a side note:

I am honestly surprised this is even the case. 2 years in Japanese arcades, and another 2 years on consoles and PC, I actually thought we would only see balance changes or cosmetics at most in the future. One has to wonder when they might move on, and to what, but I am actually kind of glad they kept going for now (also Leroy Smith is best new character).

I haven’t seen that many guest characters sense super smash bros.

Though in my opinion one or two of those could’ve gone to other missing characters.

Yeah, I’m always torn on this. There are definitely some guests I’d be happy to see. I mean we all have our preferences, for sure. But there’s just a limited number of roster spots since they can’t keep making content forever. I know this isn’t the right logic to have, but if they decide at the beginning of season 2 or 3 or whatever that they’re going to have six characters, then one guest is one less MK character and if I had to choose, most of the time, though not always, I’d take an MK character. That’s just me though.

I think Takeda has a unique mechanic with the whips, and I liked some of the stuff that he could do with them. Plus I see plenty of opportunity to see NRS expand on that idea. Plus I want to see more of Jaqui and Takeda. Perhaps in his ending? I think there’s a lot to like about this character from his moves to his connections with others. I was honestly kinda bummed he didn’t make it on to the main roster.

I’m curious. What is it about Daegon that you like so much?

Agreed. I’d also love to see Li Mei and Kira as well!

Huh I don’t know if I recall that fake leak. There were so many lol. I’d be cool with that though. A character introduced in the new MK movie ending up as DLC? Sounds good to me!

I like the concept behind Kira. She disguised herself as a man and both embedded herself with and sold weapons to terrorists. When she was discovered, she fought her way out of the cave. She’s an anarchist, she’s cold and calculating, and I think NRS could and should do a whole lot more with her than what they did in MKD and MKA.

Obviously, she’s a substantial project. While some characters like Tanya and Bo Rai Cho had to go through some rather drastic changes for MKX, they still had some base elements in their movesets to grow and expand upon. Kira has kind of a neat looking throw and that’s about it.

So to me, she’s more or less a tear down and rebuild. Yes, keep her aligned with the Black Dragon, keep everything about who she is as a character in terms of her background, but then go from there. Maybe disguising herself is part of her moveset, where she can more or less morph in to disguises that have their own partial movesets. Maybe she’s kind of a slippery throw type character along the lines of Black Widow. Maybe her overall moveset is more spy-oriented.

This is all kinda base level stuff, but my point is that there’s a lot more there that can be grown and cultivated in to something cool and unique. She also doesn’t have to wear red or even have red hair, or if she does have red hair, it can be a different shade. There are plenty of characters that have the same color of hair or have multiple colors. I’d say leave her hair color, maybe style it more in a braid, and give her a different color to wear. Problem solved.

As for Nitara, I don’t think her existence would be cancelled out by Skarlet at all. Sure, they’re both blood characters. but I think Nitara being a vampire instead of a blood mage opens up TONS of moves that she could do that would have nothing to do with blood or blood manipulation.

Sure, keep her bite throw rejuvination, but she could also do stuff involving bats, wolves, rats, mist, flying, biting, clawing, telekinesis, pyrokenesis, hypnosis, familiars, optical illusions and much more. MK could absolutely use a vampire and I don’t think it’d be stepping on Skarlet’s toes at all, though I can see why NRS might think it would.

Yeah I honestly thought they were done with new characters, but I’m SUPER psyched that Zafina is back. She’s been my favorite Tekken character since she first arrived. I also think that Leroy looks awesome and can’t wait to use him.

This kinda makes me hope that NRS will take notice that Tekken, a popular fighting game, is stretching out their post launch content this far. Heck, even Soul Calibur is getting another season. Maybe NRS might look at that and decide that this MK can have a longer life cycle given how well its done financially and how well it’s been received from both casual and competitive players alike.

They used Kiba the wolf. If they really couldn’t use those characters then they wouldn’t have been able to do that.

I was gonna respond. More directly to other points. But this basically sums it all up.

If they were really that shallow about character archetypes disqualifying certain characters, then MKX and I2, and even this title, would have vastly different rosters.

I don’t know why people are so hesitant with guest characters though. I think it’s cool. As long as the character is cool and unique, I don’t care where they come from.
