Mortal Kombat 11

I think KL has a lot of players who want the costumes but otherwise wouldn’t play online.

Eh, I’d say the proportion of janky WiFi to janky Ethernet is probably pretty high. “Bad” connections aren’t so much the issue as “inconsistent” connections. Due to the nature of the technology and network architecture, WiFi will just inherently be more volatile than wired, and I honestly don’t blame people for complaining about it.

Dealing with a bad connection sucks. Dealing with a connection that jumps constantly from decent to bad to unplayable to bad again is just garbage and anti-fun. If I had the option, I’d skip over WiFi players too.

So today I completed the Kombat League Season Challenge Rewards and unlocked the Scorpion Skins. Judging by the ammount of Scorpions I run across while playing, I’d say they will be popular skins. They are pretty sweet IMO.

I believe the MK11 soundtrack is coming out today and you know what, Wilbert Roget The 2nd did an awesome job in my book!

Gotta love Game Music.

I think MK music is underrated in general. I understand there’s a whole set of people with tremendous enthusiasm for fighting game soundtracks but I honestly just want some ambient music that serves as a good backdrop for the fight. Not something I am going to listen to in a dark room hoping to pick out all the musical nuances.

I have always considered this the greatest song ever for a fighting game. :stuck_out_tongue:

And bring back TEST YOUR MIGHT.

Funny thing about that is as far as I can recall, that song has never been in a Mortal Kombat game. I think they hint at it in the tournament stage of MK11, but aside from that snipit, nothing, yet it’s the Mortal Kombat franchise’s theme song.

It’s THE Lietmotif of the 1st round of the track.

Mortal Kombat has been coming around to having close ties with the 1995 Movie. The Tournament has a nod to the Iconic theme, as well as the Launch trailer having a new remixed version of it playing as well as Shang Tsung’s Original Actor providing his likeness and voice talents to bring the Tsung of 1995 back into people’s home. It’s a great nod to the popularity and pop culture of MK, as well as great fan service to people who have been MK fans for a long time.

I think that’s a great way to get people on your side as a gaming company.

Don’t forget the Launch trailer.

Man, I can remember getting MK: The Album back when it first came out. I actually listened to it a lot while I was playing Wolfenstein 3D back before we got a Soundblaster card installed in our PC.
Mowing down the bad guys in the game while “Chinese Ninja Warrior” is playing in the background is a surreal experie…bwahahahaha!!! :joy::joy::joy: Sorry. I can’t keep that going.:joy::joy::joy: That song was too cringy even back then.

Honestly I think Techno Syndrome was the only track on that whole album that wasn’t too bad, maybe 1 or 2 others.

I still listen to that song. Sometimes I play it whenever it snows. which is rare where I live.

Decided to take a much needed break from MK11.

Kuck Fombat League.

Seriously, now I’m starting to think that MK11 could’ve been done a lot better. Won’t be playing this game until it does get better.

How? For starters, make Gears available by Koins in general (keep Skins unlockable by opening the krypts, completing towers of time, etc,.)

Re-work Kombat League by awarding Souls, Time Krystals, Koins and Hearts for every rank reached instead of Skins. Seriously, raise the stakes if you’re going to have people use crap tactics.

Gameplay. Down Punch and Throws should be nerfed or re-worked. The more people down punch and grab people (yes I have done this), the worse online gets.

Thanks for reading.

I’m not nearly good enough to jump online. I’ve been playing this game exclusively offline, though I do wish there was more to the ToT than a crappy generic skin. Would’ve been cool to make those exclusive also.

BUt if they are hitting you with teh down punch then that means the combo you most likely just blocked was safe on block for them…or…instead of you trying to throw punish or slow combo punish…you should hit your down punch and beat them to it. You just havent conditioned your own game play to combat this. You could also skip jump attack over there down punch…or just block their down punch…stop trying to press a button when its not really your turn to press a button.

I know what tactic your are talking about, you just have to read it and overcome it…then use it back against them. Back dash works too depending on your character.
There is nothing wrong with Kombat league… Im enjoying it and Im 26 and 10 or 11. Any losses Ive had where my own fault…yeah I was ■■■■■■ but IM the one that fell for those tactics you speak of and when I trying to combat them my opponent switched it up and had me guessing 50/50’s… but in the end… all my fault.
In MK11 you have to get the upper hand and keep them guessing on wake up…thats the name of the game.

I’m actually enjoying Kombat League too, which I honestly didn’t expect. I’m not doing nearly as well as Seraphs, and I’m pretty sure I have a losing record by about ten matches or so, but I’m slowly moving up the ranks and enjoying it when I get a win, and not overly minding when I get a loss. I haven’t come across anyone that’s just absolutely mauled me yet.

In MKX, it felt as though one wrong step cost you a whole bar of health. At least in this game, it’s more like a third of a bar, and even then, I’m seeing the mistakes I’m making and actively trying to adjust. It doesn’t work all the time (my record would attest to that), but it’s still fun to play matches against people with my krappy little Kung Lao.

There’s nothing special about Kombat League as far as encouraging or discouraging good or bad play. It’s just like any other ranked mode in any other game. A lot of people are in an uproar and I think it stems from two reasons:

  1. The rewards are attracting more casual players online - with their questionable connections and tactics. Both of which are sometimes effective at getting wins. But this is just complaining about democracy. Anyone arguing they want fewer people playing their game is… well I will let you fill in the blank.

  2. People have extra salt because they are wanting to shoot up to Elder God level and get that skin and they are impatient. NRS games have historically not rewarded you in any way for ranking up. You just get a win/loss record. So NRS players aren’t used to this level of frustration trying to climb the ladder. They’re impatient and so losses are doubly frustrating.

The jab/tic throw set ups are really hard to deal with, I dont disagree there… but there is a way to beat it. Here is what I found but coming from KI and how to tech throws KI style…its really hard to switch your brain to this new MK style.

To beat jab tic throws in MK11 you can do 3 things,

  1. tech the throw by press X or A on a default throw/ back throw or Y or B for a forward throw just as the throw hits you.
  2. you can duck the throw but NOT PRESS BLOCK. This will allow the throw to go right over your head.
  3. Or you can jump straight up or use the hop attack. THrows do not grab in the air like MKX did.

All 3 of the these techniques are really hard because the window is so short and fast. You basically have to see the patterns coming.
Im trying really hard to get these techniques into my muscle memory but its really hard. THe best way to combat this is basically dont get knocked down and have to deal with this on wake up. stay on the move and try to keep you opponent pinned down and guessing before he does the same to you.
I REALLY WISH YOU COULD BACK DASH IN THIS GAME!!! UGH! I think you can with some characters but I know Kabal has a really non existent back dash.

I used to be really excited for this game. After all that boring grinding and so called “microtransactions” (buying a locked character, And it’s Frost at that), I just got sick of it.

Until they rework this game extremely (not just online bullsmack, but stupid time crystals, better ways to unlock gear, color gradients or better yet “Shaders”, I don’t see a point in getting excited for Spawn or even Sindel. The only parts of the game where they got good with is the in-game dialouge, the easter eggs/references, the animation and the art style.

I’m starting to believe that games like Mortal Kombat (except for Tekken 7 and a few personal favorites) are going to be riddled with pointless mechanics and other bullsmack in the forseeable future.
