Mortal Kombat 11

MAn…Lui Kang and Kung Lao look absolutley fantastic!!! Luis nun chuks and Kungs hat…just flawless.
And as much as I dislike Jax…he looks really good.
I played a bit of the beta earlier…I cant wait for the full rlease… just everything is just so vibrant and exciting.
I really really wish KI could have the money to look like this.

I’m actually curious about that anti-fireball move. It looks difficult to set up considering you have to go into a stance to actually use it in the first place. It’ll have to come down to how fast you can cancel out of the stance, or how slow some projectiles may be. Scorpion was able to cancel out of Misery Blade rather quickly so I hope the same goes for Liu Kang too. But considering the start-up animation for it, it seems a little hard to react to a fireball with it.

I think this is the best MK ever. Very fun to play and awesome looking. They only thing i can’t get used to is blocking with a button, but ok. The characters move really well. Great. FG planet is saved.

Felt the same about it with I2.

Just not feeling it.

Then Call me crazy. Because after playing Baraka and finding how un-fun he is… I am very very depressed.

I’m sure @FallofSeraphs76 is just using hyperbole. It’s okay if you don’t like the game. Not everyone is going to like every game. I don’t know if you tried all the variations but Baraka definitely seems like a bruiser in this game. He doesn’t have super flashy moves nor does he have terrific long combos, but he will hurt you more than you can hurt him with his simple strings and krushing blows. You block and you wait your turn. I actually like his gameplay a lot, but I can see how not everyone would.

I played a little Scorpion during the stress test and he’s a little faster and more fun but you are risking punishment in exchange for good mixup options. I’m working on Kabal in the beta and so far I’ve only tried one variation but I can’t really figure out his go to options. Seems like the other variations he’s pretty clearly a zoned so maybe I will try that. I feel like the beta is not performing as well as the stress test either so landing the punishes is harder which is really hurting.

Jade looks really cool. People are complaining about no big combos but you can’t have everything. She has amazing range and a terrific confirm into her spinning staff from just about all of her pokes.

In addition some of the other characters they’ve announced look like they play very differently. So you might want to wait and change your pick when the game comes out. Or you can always cancel your preorder.

It’s fine to not be happy with the game but I hate to see you depressed about it.

On a conference call with folks in UK listening to accounting treatments for IFRS, while looking at my second screen deciding what mask looks better on Jade…or perhaps drop the mask altogether because she looks so pretty. My job is hard.

Jade looks like that lady/actress from guardians or am I just seeing things…?

It’s just a beta so I’m gonna wait.

But no lie…This might have to be my last NRS game I pre-order.

jade looks like gamora, or rather zoe saldana lol.

kung lao looks really fun, i like the hat moves where he keeps it spinning in place and the dude is gettin his back sawed open while being pummeled in the face. thats some serious assault and battery haha

the stages i saw today look so awesome, i liked the temple one with the liu kang break down. ■■■■ yeah

edit: ok wtf…where is the pit? thats like a staple for the game lol

You mean the stage they didn’t put into MKX until a year later?

That’s a perfectly valid decision. But you aren’t really giving us much to discuss because you haven’t really said what you don’t like about the beta. Which is also fine, but if you want to talk about I would be happy to do that. I just need to know why you aren’t enjoying the game.

The beta is just not fun IMO.

There isn’t anything exciting to do in a fight. Not many combos that look cool.

And my favorite character in the series is just… not fun for me anymore.

Am I the only one having trouble with Kabal’s Road rash fatality?

Edit: @MandrillManiac Baraka is definitely not a combo heavy character. Some good combos do exist but they are harder to find and execute than MKX which tended to be three hit string to pop up to three hit string to special move.

It’s too bad we can’t do matchmaking with friends in the beta.

Yeah I’m finding more and more that what I’m expecting isn’t there, even though they told us it wouldn’t be. We’re not going to get those big MKX combos that tended to be rather easy to pull off. So now I’m more or less trying to find things that work and how to extend combos and it’s tough, especially when you can’t go to practice mode.

All that said though, I’m still really enjoying the game. I know there’s a lot more under the surface and I like mixing and matching moves to characters to see what I can do with them.

I’m not particularly great with amplify timing for some reason, especially with Baraka’s blade fury for some reason (or stab stab or whatever they’re calling it in this game), but after a few hours with it last night, I left it with a feeling of joy that MK’s back and looking so fantastic, excitement over all the stuff we’ll be able to customize characters with, and hope for even more enjoyment down the road when I actually learn how to play and do some cool looking stuff.

Can’t wait to jump back in tonight!

Personally, I don’t really like huge combos. I know maximizing your damage when you open someone up is a fundamental skill in fighting games, but it’s just not really my thing to work on all the combo timing. I know that’s ironic on a KI forum, but KI’s combos are essentially universal so it’s a different scenario.

I am really enjoying the “footsie” style MK gameplay because it takes me back to the game in the series that I thought was most fun - MK2. I think three hit strings and special moves to end them is plenty of combo. Recognizing that there are longer combos in the game for more skilled people.

I think it was a bit of a mistake not to give us practice mode - although I think actually quite a lot will change between this beta version and the final release next month.

If people are looking for easy combo strings it seems clear Liu Kang is going to have these.

EDIT: I got the Road Rage fatality. Turns out “mid” means all the way on the other side of the screen.

Aint that the TRUTH!!! Baraka hits sooo hard OMG it can be frustrating on the receiving end.Im sure if you use Baraka , get the hang of it and start decimating people…the game becomes pretty ■■■■ fun lol

@BigBadAndy yes MID means almost full screen. I had the same issue with Scorpion last week.

@BoJima404 Yes Jade looks exaclty like Zoe Zaldana or known as Gamora from Guardians of the galaxy

@MandrillManiac , man it seems like everything you are saying about the game is just you… not the game itself. Thats ok, but its not the games fault, its not a bad game and the combos DO look awesome… I dont understand how anyone can say the combos dont look cool? BUt being depressed over a beta becasue you cant just come straight out the gate and start whopin everyones assks isnt the games fault… you have to put in the work and yeah thats not always fun, especially when you dont have all the bells and whistles of the full game.
BUt saying you wont preoreder another NRS game just seems very pessimistic and signs of depression as you already mentioned. I hope you can overcome whatever is bringing you down.
