Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite

If the gameplay is indeed as I think it is, it’s mixing Marvel Super Heroes with Street Fighter vs X-men, with the only X-man being X

I didn’t see things to make me feel we were anywhere near MvC2’s craziness, which carried onto MvC3.

I saw Infinity Gems being used like the OG MSH and I saw assisting and supermoves equal to that of SF vs XM. The only indication of something like MvC I saw was Ryu turning “evil” but that could also be a gem.

And I’m on the Ultron + Sigma train, not Astronoth as the lone big bad.

I may pick this up but Sony+Capcom’s deals are part of why AAA’s crash. Capcom is playing a slippery game of choking out MvC3 for a whole year, choking out other platform hype potential for a quick buck.

Ohhh, it makes me so very cross.

Here’s a thought, If they’re digging back into the MvC history as far as MvSF…does anyone think we might see a return of Cyber Akuma?

Can I ask for some clarity? UMvC3 will release on other platforms in March, so it’s a 3-month current gen exclusivity for Sony, not a year. And MvC Infinite has been announced for everything with no release date and no announcement of any kind of timed exclusivity.[quote=“WrathOfFulgore, post:102, topic:16559, full:true”]

I don’t know. So far, we have seen six characters, all of whom are in MvC3 vanilla (not even new to UMvC3). I’m actually wondering if there will be any new characters in this at all, and if so, where are they? It doesn’t seem like it would be too hard to do something like replace Ryu with Ken for this iteration. But they look like they are going to pretty much just paste it over from MvC3 so far…

Still, there’s lots of time.

Captain Marvel in MvC3?

Whoops, I stand corrected. Nothing to see here people, move along…

Easy mistake to make, MvC3 did have Marvel Girl (Jean) which could be mistaken for Miss Marvel (Carol), not to be mistaken for Miss Marvel (Kamala) who is not Captain Marvel (Carol) which is not to be confused with Captain Marvel (Captain Mar-vell) or the dc universe Captain Marvel (Shazam).

I hope this game is good, and I’m still waiting for Darkstalkers. That game is about the only one that will truly get me off KI for many months. Lol

I’m really surprised this game hasn’t had a remake. It seems like they could really take some chances and try some different gameplay ideas with a DS reboot/remake/new game. It doesn’t need a huge roster. I guess it’s a pretty niche request, but it comes up so frequently. This and Primal Rage…

As someone who has never cared about MvC I’m likely to have some very outlier opinions, but here goes.

So, this game is looking more appealing to me than I thought it would. I’m all for having to learn less characters before I can play a real match; and I’m glad they’re sticking close to the MCU because I really like the Avengers movies and many of the movies in that continuity, and also I can’t understand the love for the comic book visual design for Marvel characters at all (nostalgia notwithstanding). I’d need to get a pretty impressive recommendation to even consider reading a comic book in 2016 regardless, but I suspect that the cheesy comic book niche art design works against that market.

One thing I find offputting is that I still get the sense that a lot of the cinematics for this game are going to feature characters Mary-Sueing the ■■■■ out with lots of stupid “look at me I’m awesome” poses. I guess the whole MvC series is about that kind of fan service fantasy.

I’ll be interested to see what the gameplay is like once people have isolated the good strategies. I suspect it won’t be the sort of game where merely blocking a move loses you an entire lifebar, because I don’t think balance-conscious devs (and especially publishers) want that kind of game, and the previous iterations probably only stayed that way due to lack of ongoing support. But also from speaking to some of the fans I get the sense that that’s exactly what they want, so I expect people to be disappointed. For me, my comfort zone is a high-power neutral combining lots of frame traps, dirty mixups, and safe midscreen check moves, so if MvCI scales it back to something like that I think I could be happy enough.

In 2016 this just seems like such a crazy hangup, since what comes on the disc of a typical game is aligning less and less with the post-patch, post-DLC experience that you end up playing. If you insist on “owning” everything that comes on the disc, then they’re just going to leave it off the disc and offer it for download from their by now well-established digital distribution platforms later, which will probably hurt you for having to download it more than it hurts them, and there’s no way you can audit the dev shop to make sure that the content wasn’t made pre-launch (nor should you have any right to), so your experience is basically the same except that you have to needlessly download more ■■■■.

I find it funny when they make Marvel character games. It always comes down to “what companies own which characters, and can we get the rights”

Alright, I feel I need to clarify things a bit as far as my sentiments on the sale of the game.

It’s not just this I’m worried about, and in fact, this is far from the biggest concern I have about MvC Infinite. What I’m really worried about is Capcom pulling some stunt that is in the larger scope of things dishonest. For the last few fighting game releases, in some manner or another, Capcom has tried to do something that essentially has made me more cautious about approaching ANY product they sell, given that something will inevitably come up that either shows the had some dishonest intentions from the start, or had the audacity to try and sell a product that doesn’t measure up to the standards they promise, only to have it proven the day of launch or some ways down the road.

With IG, though they always seem to play really close to the chest when it comes to timelines, they deliver what they promise, and when they can’t they are up front to us about it. In terms of communication, I’m satisfied with the way the developers present us with information, and even share with us in the development process at times. They don’t say they promise one thing, and then either deliver something else entirely, or fail to deliver what they original had marked down. At the beginning of season 3, they told us a big story mode type experience with lots of replayability and use for the KI gold with the preorder was coming, and as far as I’m concerned, promise fulfilled.

Capcom on the other hand has had a recent history with nickel and diming people in what, as far as my perception of it, is dishonest business practices. On top of that, they have launched incomplete, partially functional products to market. With each recent title, there has always been some point of controversy or something that comes to light later on. It’s made it REALLY hard for me to trust them, and why I still haven’t purchased SFV on PC, and why I most likely won’t ever. SFxTekken, MvC3, SFV, they have all some issue that shouldn’t have happened, but did.

Now I can understand Capcom has to employ the best strategy within the current digital sales environment and consumer demand for constant fresh content, but with all things there’s a right way and a wrong way, and they tend to lean towards the latter, which quite frankly I feel is putting them in the financial position they are currently in, more so than the fact that the FGC is a niche fan base to sell to or any other potential excuse.

That’s my perspective of the situation. Whether it’s valid or not, I leave that to you, but as much as I want to be excited for this new title, any hype I have has been overshadowed by a great deal of skepticism and overly cautious analysis from being burned on their past dealings. I hope I’m wrong, and perhaps they launch this game with a well crafted netcode, potential to expand, working day 1 multiplayer, and a game that innovates and is set apart from its predecessors, and above all, is fun to play. However, their record is against them, as far as I’m concerned.

Crossplay is definitely the future of fighting games (and multiplayer in general, with a few exceptions). Game consoles should go the way of the phone or the PC, where having a different box under your TV won’t mean that you can’t play with your friends. Sure there will still be some exclusive killer apps, and that’s to be expected. But all multi-platform titles should be crossplay going forward.
Players get to play together, no matter what they own. It’s the right thing to do.

On topic: I don’t particularly care about the new MvC personally, but it does make me happy to see dreams coming true. I know it was something a lot of people wanted, and it’s nice to see game publishers do something nice once in a while.

Some rumblings about possible characters in MVCi. Hard to believe just a random forum post but its interesting.

So according to Lupinko, the following will also be in

Marvel:

Gwenpool
Howard the Duck
Groot
Kamala Khan

Capcom:

Roll
Protoman
Hunter (Monster Hunter)
Edward Falcon
Asura

Looks like Kamala will be Ms.Marvel while Carol is Captain Marvel

Edit: Max confirms that this is a fake. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Bleccch.
What a roster.

Hype killed.

Loving cap and marvel. All we need now is captain Britain to round then out.
I’m OK with sf x tk tag teams.
I just hope we’ll get new characters like ant man, falcon, vision, scarlet witch and finally widow.
She deserves to be a character. She could be based on Jill from mvc3

Wow, Ant Man…

How on earth would you design him in a fighting game?

I would design him as “stance” character, with power ups instead of actual stances:

Standart Ant-Man: Average human size, average mobility, average damage, average health
Small Ant-Man: Very small size(hard to hit), high mobility, very low damage, eats huge damage if hit
Giant Ant-Man: Very big(bigger than Sentinel), low mobility, high damage output, gets armored moves and recieves less damage.

Ant-Man has a “cold slouder” move, a projectile where he throws a random object(regular ones, like toys or stuff like that) and he throws a augment disk, making them bigger(giant toys for the win!), a “DP”, and he has a power up move that makes him bigger or smaler.

Overall you want to move around being small, and then switch to Huge once you are in. The power ups would be somehow like Arbiter Grenades: You can’t switch everytime you want, they have a cooldown. And they could have a short duration, so you have to spend some time in average size

He could have ant-Tony as a helper / super.
Enlarge or shrink objects to use as a shield or fireball.
He could use the ants like kan ra uses sand maybe.

Thing is, if they did that he can’t just be small, he has to be unseeably small. No one wants to play as midget-man, we want ant-man.

Agree, I was thinking in something as big as Ryu fist or something like that. VERY hard to hit. But if you hit him, he could be killed in one combo, similar to Phoenix
