Killer Instinct Weekly Forum Battles

Thanks, but I’ve had it with killer ranking/pro players; the Forum Battle I partisipated in was absolutly full of them and I ended up having an awful time. If I was being trained by someone, I’d rather be trained by someone who’s either at or around my skill level, because having a god-tier player stepping on me all while giving me advise that will serve to no prevail in winning a match against him won’t be helpful.

Believe me, I understand loosing. I’ve had KI since the day it released and managed to challenge myself and learn from my losses. Now, it’s impossible to learn anything from your losses because almost EVERYONE online is extremely skilled at the game; it’s only once in a blue moon I encounter a player who’s new to the game or in the casual skill level.

Not that many of use are in Killer at the time of Forum Battles. I don’t think any of us are pros. We don’t get paid for it. If you are fighting someone skilled, did you look at what they did and use it yourself? Also watching some footage of players playing that character can help you learn some tricks.

I actually agree 100% with this, believe it or not. If you’re just getting ground into paste while playing, the amount of learning you do will be minimized. It’s always best to level up your game primarily with people who are at your level or a little bit better; if they’re completely out of your league then it’s not likely to be super helpful.

Once you get to a level where you can understand how you’re getting stomped into the street however, it can behoove you to find players who really are a lot better than you, and then steal shamelessly from them and have them coach you on things you can improve.

At the very beginning levels though, I actually do agree that it’s best to find those nearer your skill level. There are a bunch of new players roaming around the forums since S3 launched - I highly suggest finding one of their threads and asking for matches.

Best of luck on improving your game!

I was there and there wasn’t 1 Pro person there? And most of us were killers at one time…now only a few as we climb back up…some of us weren’t that great when forum battle started and we have all came along ways since then. Killer rank doesnt mean everything.
And like I said before in my first reply to you… FLUTTER WILL MATCH YOU UP AGAINST SOMEONE OF your SKILL LEVEL BEST HE CAN. If your not happy with your match up then you can asked to be skipped or moved down the list to another player of your choosing. You can bring in a friend and ask to play each other on the list. Its that simple

Look man either you want to have fun and learn with us or you dont… no one is forcing you and I say to everyone here…lets just drop it and let him sink or swim.

“If I was being trained by someone, I’d rather be trained by someone who’s either at or around my skill level…”

Well to me, Killer ranking players are discouraging, and a nightmare to fight against. And there wasn’t a single pro person during that Forum Battle? Well guess what, they all felt like pro players when I fought them. Not only that, but I already said that I do not want to be assisiated to the best players in the game; it will do no good for me. Look, I want to end this just as much as you do, so I’m going to take a vacation from the forums.

I completely understand your frustration. Everybody on here is trying to get you to adhere to their learning styles and tell you, “train with me! Train with me!”. I GET that. I went through the same thing trying to learn Ultra Street Fighter 4. I played months of that game and never got better so eventually I quit. When someone tried to mentor me through that game they just kept whaling on me until I got frustrated.

The truth is nobody can really tell you how to get better, for example some people were playing ranked right from the get go, meanwhile some of us stayed offline and learned against the computers. You could try playing offline in survival but it’s missing the human element. You could play online and get the human interaction but finding someone on your skill level is difficult. Is there a perfect solution? Not really.

Just play the game however you feel is the correct way. Try playing Shadows, try survival, try exhibition. Until you feel like you have what it takes to try ranked again.

I do not want to beat you to a pulp, and i never do. If you chill for an hour, and let me help you, you will find that there is a much better method to learning.

@CriticalSix4677

I’ve never considered myself a pro - I just understand the fundamentals for the game really, reallly well.

When I train new players, I don’t beat them senseless and “hope that they eventually get it.” I sit there and let them beat ME senseless, while I talk to them about the fundamentals of the game’s mechanics, step by step, as well as offer personal advice to you as you need it.

If you’d like a refresher course from the ground up, I’m your man, and I promise you, I won’t hit back unless you want me to.

…and let’s face it - the fact of the matter is that you’re still here. Which means you’re holding on to hope. You haven’t given up yet. If you really wanted to do that, you would’ve been long gone by now. So, come on… Take 1 of us by the hand, and let us help you.

I´d love to chill for an hour and double my skill level! PICK ME FLUTTER!

I just started playing about a month ago, so if you wanna play some extended sets, I’m sure we could both learn a bunch.

I wish I could, but because my Xbox is downstairs with my brother (who’s still asleep) I can’t get on it right now.

And yet you claim not to be a pro player? Look, I’m very honest about my skill level in KI; I suck. If anything, saying that you’re not a pro but understand the fundamentals of the game really well is kinda like saying, “I’m not good at Halo 5… BUT, I’ve won in five tournaments.”

Oh no worries mate, Im at work at the moment so I couldnt either. I meant so that we can set it up and play sometime. Add me on Xbox app and send me a message if you see me on, or let me know on here when you´d like to play.

No, PRO means you get paid to play a game. You have sponsorship and you win prize money from tournaments.
IMO having just a PRO star in ranked but not having sponsors and winning money in tournaments does not count as a true PRO..even though its called a PRO star.

Seems like your embarrassed to play with someone of higher skill. Just take there help man. If not… go to Sajams video tutorials on you-tube and Infils guide. that’s the best advice if you are going to learn on your own. Good luck

Yes, and I have the right to feel embarissed! It’s one thing to loose a few rounds but figure out how to improve yourself. But it’s another thing where almost every player you encounter is better than you! Even if I finally beat a really skilled player, I’ll only run into another player just as skilled!

What makes this even more embarrassing is when these players start saying that they’re not skilled at the game. So yes, I am embarrassed.

That is the endless cycle of fighting games.

There is always someone better than you, and you can always improve yourself.

step 1. Get beaten
step 2. Humble yourself, and practice more.
step 3. Get better, beat the challenge/opponent/rank level
step 4. Celebrate, and feel accomplished
step 5. Get beaten
Repeat
Repeat
Repeat

Every part of this process is fun, and is NOTHING to be ashamed of.

“feeling” yourself get better is what drives us to play the game, and we are trying to share that feeling with you.

This is the last thing i am going to say about this.

Get with someone, (hopefully me), and start having fun and training. If you cant get over loosing, then maybe it is just not the game for you. Making a huge deal about loosing is not a good sign. We can help you get better, but you have to drop that attitude first.

But I haven’t won ANY tournaments! Heck, I haven’t really been in ANY tournaments, really. I took part in a local Orlando tournament once against 30 people and made 4th place (and only the top 3 got prizes - which was not even cash). Then last weekend I took part in an online tournament and lost my 1st match, got put into the losers bracket, won 2 by default because my opponents were no-shows, and then lost my 2nd actual fight and got shoved aside for the better actual pro players.

You’re letting your perception get in the way of facts. Most of us? We’re not pros - you just think that we are. You’re being self-defeating (and in the process becoming self-destructive). Keep being like that and nobody, and I do mean nobody, can help you.

Then I guess this game isn’t meant for me, if I can’t find any form of fun out of learning from matches.

Guys, No need to hound @CriticalSix4677. It’s alright. If Six needs questions, he will ask.
