Killer Instinct Weekly Forum Battles

You KEEP saying that you arent having fun because people keep beating you up.

And at least THREE of us are telling you that we WONT do that.

Take the offers. Or stop. It is WAY too simple to be making over 30 posts about it.

Which is why I’m taking a break from the forums; to stop this. Im not doing this out of hope, but out of the need of ending this. Heck, I shoudlnt have even partisipated in the Forum Battle in the first place, since I felt that it would only cause me stress and frustration.

I hope everyone has a good day.

I cant believe you havent calmed down in MULTIPLE DAYS.

Do you have nerve issues? Or something? Im honestly asking, because the “weight” you are putting on yourself is NOT healthy.

Just chill. Its a game. Talk to someone. We are all here waiting for you to accept an offer.

To @MrxFlutterShy and @GalacticGeek - lay off the guy. You’ve reached out and offered to help and he’s declined, and you should let that be the end of it. Not everyone wants to be “taken by the hand”, and I’m willing to bet most people don’t want to be badgered and berated into accepting help. Your offers are generous, but they aren’t what Critical is looking for. That’s ok.

What you should NOT be doing is questioning the man’s mental health or his fitment for the game. We’re trying to grow a community here - and being helped by you or me or anybody to get better is not a requirement of being a part of that community. He hasn’t turned down your offers in a nasty way; he is simply not interested and that is his right.

It isn’t fun to get curb stomped, and not everyone wants to have some kind of dedicated mentor figure help them to level their game up. He wants to get better by fighting people near his own skill level, and that’s not a terrible way to learn a game at all. The trick will just be finding that group of similarly new players he can run with. There’s a market for it here, and he can find it if he looks. Just means that you or I or many of the more experienced players here will be of more limited use for his goals. Again - that’s ok.

@CriticalSix4677, while it’s absolutely your right to de-plug from the forums (or even the game if that’s your wish), I would actually encourage you to stick around the forums, even if not this thread. Once you find that character you like, post in that character’s sub-forum and ask for basic tips about what to start with on them and how to approach them. Most of the character forums have at least a few specialists who will probably be more than willing to help you out - in some of them there’s actually already threads like that, so you can probably find other new people to play with as well. I also hear that a lot of people have used Shadows mode to build their skill base before hopping back online.

Hope that helps

I always thought that it was a non productive thing to do. Good to hear otherwise.

It really does, thank you  . I know I said that I would be taking a vacation right now, but I just wanted to get this off of my shoulders. I’m deeply sorry I caused this whole mess. I really am. But like I said, I honestly felt that the people in the Forum Battle were way over my league. In general, a lot of people are over my league in KI, but it hasn’t stopped me from finding another match up. Lately though, I’ve been finding that I’ve been getting more and more stressed about loosing; believe me, I loose a lot, but it hasn’t bothered me that much all until now.

Look, I’m really greatful that people want to help me get better, but I’d much rather train with people whom I can relate to; people of my own skill levels. How can I believe that I won’t get stomped on or stressed out if I’m trained by a skilled player? I don’t, and STORM seems to understand this. I will admit, I should not have blown this out of proportions. Still, I really need to take a break from KI, since the Forum Battles proved way too stressful for me.

Please dont take this offensive…I think your better of playing against the SHADOWS and CPU for about 4-6 months. then come back to fighting real people.
Thats my best advice for you at this point. good luck!

I personally think that doing that would actually make him worse off then he is now…

@CriticalSix4677 I will definitely say that @FallofSeraphs76 speaks sound advice. I’ve spent like 90% of my time playing Killer Instinct by fighting against AI or my girlfriend rather than going online into Ranked or Exhibition. While online play is the best way to test and prove your skills, it’s hard to justify doing it if you haven’t hit a certain skill threshold with the character you’re using. Learn to win the fight against your controller before you try and fight other players, you know?

So do what I do when I play: Grind against lower difficulty AI. This helps you do a ton of cool things:

-It helps you get the controls down to reflex actions so you can combo consistently. Start with a character you really like, then start branching out and learning how to fight with and against different characters.

-Lower difficulty AI use combos that are inherently easy to break. Beginner difficulty almost always combos into a Heavy Auto-Double, i.e. the primary easy break point to look for online. This helps you learn how to break any character you go against, since they’ll be choreographed to show you things you should be looking for in combos.

-You can unlock goodies faster! You can get character colors and concept art ASAP this way, for cool aesthetic value!

Once you can combo and break consistently, THEN you can head online or play with friends to get into more Meta things.

The best advice for @CriticalSix4677 is the same way all of us learned to play fighting games; fight against people at your own skill level.

It’s no fun to lose repeatedly to better players, even if they are trying to be as helpful as possible. It’s also no fun to beat on people who don’t know what’s going on.

There are people of all skill levels in this forum, so if you can find a person that’s near yours, I would recommend you get them in a lobby and just play some matches once or twice a week. Make some new friends and enjoy yourself! Alternatively, if you play a ranked match against someone who you match up well against, send then a message and ask if they’re interested in playing some casual lobby matches with you.

Then, if something happens that you don’t understand, or you want someone to give you some advice, ask any of us here.

I would encourage you to not play against the regular AI (but Shadows mode is okay), because that AI doesn’t play like a real person and you will only teach yourself terrible habits.

#Please be on the lookout for new Forum Battles Info

Forum battles MAY or MAY NOT happen tomorrow.

You will just have to trust me, that there is a SIGNIFICANT issue that is out of my control right now.

If i cant have solutions by tomorrow, i will just have to find a way to make it up to you.

Good luck friend!

If you can’t,I wouldn’t mind streaming. I sorted out the issues and it should be working now. I can’t do an overlay and the brackets will be in the chat though.

This a good time to point this out…

again…

#My stream is NOT “Forum Battles”
“Forum battles” is an event that anyone can participate in, in any way they choose.

Anyone can stream, record, or do whatever, as long as it involves playing KI, and not hurting others.

Just be sure to point EVERYONE back to “Ultra-Combo.com” and encourage them to join us.

Wasn’t it this that almost killed Forum Battles…jk. I see where this is going. Since Forum battles is every Saturday and Forum battles is just an event where we play KI,Saturday is the official KI day of the week right? Wait,if Forum battles is us playing, how come it may or may not happen tommorrow?
