Everyone on the old forums wanted that though…Like a lot of people were upset over fulgore stage lighting fix in season 2 (I think a dev had eye problems with the stage)
Would is VERY different from will. Every artist that is not satisfied with his/her work wishes they could fix it or redo it. But in the real world that opportunity might never happen. Especially if your under the employment of someone.
it adds to the pile of “planned yet not done” of this game
It was never planned.
It was never planned…that’s the thing! Just the wishful thinking of an artist that was on his last season with this game before he had to move on.
from the point of view of a fan, it’s the same. Besides, there’s a pile of game stuff unrelated to music that got the same treatment. Don’t need to focus just on this particular issue by Mick to prove my point.
More people want those features more than 5 stages. I hope we do get a stage pack one day but we have been asking for some features since 2013. If we were to get everything we want it would cost more than games like MKX w/ far less profit as MK is MK and has been built up for over a decade. Over time I think we will get everything we want as I don’t see any more characters coming after this season (it would make good business sense to add new stuff(costumes/stages) w/ a char balance update at some point after chars are finished next year).
People wants all these things, but not at the expense of stages. That trade off has never even been hinted to the fans as a possibility to be discussed with the community.
Also there’s no confirmation that we are really getting any of those improvements as a result of losing the stages.
Several members are assuming that stages DLC will come later as a way of softening the blow. That’s wishful thinking ATM.
Seems like season 3 is off to a good start so far. I wonder how big the patch for this sigh…
It is wishful thinking and we don’t know what we are getting but I know most people would take those features over 5 stages and all I have heard from the devs have been that they are pushing for big features/to improve the game in one way or another ie. story. I’m not saying we are getting those things I am saying it seems like from this update on lighting is the beginning of a push. Anyway you are right we don’t know if any content will be after this season but I know one thing, they plan on 2 more KI World Cups and I don’t think they will show up empty handed.
They could have chosen to reveal “only three stages” during the big reveal, sure. But at the same time people are complaining “why haven’t we heard ANYTHING yet???”. It’s a lose-lose situation for IG and MS because of how ■■■■■■■ overreactive a portion of this community is. People whine and complain and ■■■■■ about the most minor things, or without having full information, but yet it’s like squeezing blood out of a stone to get a decent helping of respect or understanding from the same people. We’re getting a big reveal sometime in the next week or so, and without having all the information it’s foolish to make these overblown judgements.
This game needs to evolve over time, and nobody is going to get 100% of what they want because everybody wants different things - so they can’t please everybody. But sure, we have a thriving community, are going to EVO again, have KI World Cups for at least two more years, and are on the doorstep of a third season. But please, let the minor things “ruin” your entire experience, and continue drawing everybody into your misery, cuz KI is clearly dying out!
So many of these things (like the retros) are incredibly minor and have been done to death. And it’s laughable that you go so far as to say a major downside or “hurt” is that DH was purchased and couldn’t make the game any more? You don’t like KI’s story mode (please see SFV, a $60 AAA title), you don’t like “pay to unlock” (are you complaining that this isn’t like a MOBA where you can eventually open all the characters through playing the game for a million hours? Are you complaining that someone else can choose to pay for KI gold to unlock colors rather than grind them out?) Unbelievable, dude.
Incredibly minor? I paid 20$ extra for season 1 retros expecting badass costumes and 80% of them were silly and rushed.
Do you find laughable that a developer gets bought in the middle of developing your favorite 20 year old franchise comeback?
not enough improvement over season1’s arcade mode, no. I expected more.
quite the contrary actually. I complain that paying becomes viable because grinding is unreasonable. Also having to spend 4.99$ per color is too much.
I am not saying KI is dying, I am not drawing anybody anywhere, I don’t feel “miserable” and I’d rather discuss things in a less hysterical tone.
What about people who don’t play online?
Wait… Really?
Are you saying that you’d RATHER have a few more stages - than new modes, better story experience, better tutorials, more costumes and retros?
You’d trade it all for some stages? … Really?
No… sigh.
The other poster was implying that people wanted those features more than new stages. “More” does not mean “in exchange of”.
Also, it has never hinted by the devs that we may lose stages in exchange of other content. Thus, this debate of “new content over new stages” had never existed before. So you couldn’t really asess which was the interest of the fans regarding “new stages versus something else”.
Also, as the other poster, you are implying that the trade off for losing stages is… all that extra content you just mentioned. In which case, it’s wishful thinking again.
For the moment, we are losing stages (which is critical content IMO) for some unknown feature.
If and only if the stages were sacrified in exchange of revamped retros, fully cinematic story mode and better tutorials and costumes (which I highly doubt) could we assess if the trade was worthy.
that was what season 2 was supposed to fix. It was supposed to bring new unlock criteria, without further extending the grind. Instead we got this massive grinding (which I must remind you that has already been toned down due to the fan outcry)
It did though. NOW NO ONE HAS TO PLAY ONLINE…that came out wrong…
Anyway I’m done talking for the night…GOOD NIGHT!
All my season 1 characters were at max level. Then season 2 came, extended the cap limit and brought microtransactions. I will never have all my chars at 50, because now, after several KI boosters and hundreds of hours of grinding, not only I have 4 characters left to max out but several newcomers are coming. I’ll never get it done with the new system. I’ll never unlock colors which I supposedly paid for already when I bought the game.
