Killer Instinct Season 3 Graphics Shine Brighter

As far as I am concerned-If only one character has it, and not everyone will have this character, they didn’t do anything with Ultimates, so it’s better, and easier to make piece with as opposed to the idea that they went and did all that work to make it work on all stages but they will never do it for anyone else BUT SHAGO which is a wasteful use of possibly setting up for something bigger.

Why bother starting something if you’re not gonna go the distance?

Now if they were to some how do the Ultimates I’ll take everything I have said. But so long as there are no Ultimates for the rest of the cast, there is no Ultimates in KI.

This is how I’ll make peace with what they’ve done, even if it is incorrect.

They said this on a stream once: “Shago is the only man with an Ultimate in this VIDEO GAME” To me it simply means:

“Shago will be the only one with an Ultimate, and we’re not gonna make one for everyone else, so you’re better off pretending they don’t exist”

So my conclusion is going to be: Ultimates are never going to be in KI" and in following this personal conclusion it will be easier to make peace and move on.

Is it sour and salty? DEFINITELY but seeing as Ultimates where one of the biggest things I was looking forward to, I’d much rather leave it on a sour note because in this case it’s my way of accepting that form of disappointment and moving on. Even if it is ridiculous.

this lack of consistency is annoying also

only one character with an ultimate, rest do not
75% of characters have their own stage, rest does not.
only season2 stages get stage ultras
backstories for all except shago

Maybe I have an undiagnosed obsessive compulsive disorder, but this lack of cohesion rubs me the wrong way.

I think that’s the curse of a seasonal game. It’s gonna look like a sore thumb unless it’s all made cohesive.

no one answered my questions- I must be in the doghouse.

What was your question?

I get that, but it’s not that unusual. Some, but not many or all MK stages have a stage finisher. In SFV only one character gets a parry. That’s the kind of thing that happens with a varied roster.

I don’t often say this when I speak about KI any more but the new deeper contrasts and graphical improvements are very nice indeed.

This news has been overshadowed somewhat by the confirmation of only 3 new stages in S3. Not sure why this is (budget, time, etc) but I can understand why people would be upset about it.

I think we need something official from @TempusChaoti explaining why this is the case and what brought the team to this decision.

No, everyone needs to just wait for the big reveals.

They will give us the update when it’s time, and it can’t have been easy for them to deliver the 3 stage news but be forced to wait and hold back on giving us the rest of the information. Doesn’t get any easier with people grabbing pitchforks and making demands.

I wouldn’t say never. They know it’s a hot topic and strongly desired feature. It may not have made the S3 time budget, but my question is what constitutes the “End” of season 3?
Is it when they’re finished releasing new characters? Is it when S4 begins? Or is it some time inbetween? Cause at SOME point they’ll get together and ask “what do we do next to keep people engaged in KI?!”
At which point they say: “Ultimates… We’ve put this off far too long.” (Queue Bilbo meme that I’m too lazy to do on a phone.)

It was an easy decision for IG and MS to make less stages. Looking @ fighting games now, IG/DH were doing a lot but still couldn’t offer certain features the other games offered. Not because of budget but because of priorities. Games like MK and SF don’t make levels for each char and have a budget far beyond KI. Instead they focus on more fleshed out modes and options. People have been wanting a better Story experience, practice tutorials for all chars, online practice, updated costumes for some retros, more costumes, attract mode/opening cinematic, etc… No fighting game needs a level for each char. It is nice but if we can take KI’s quality as a game to the next level by having a few less"levels", I am all for it. This lighting looks like the first step on that journey.

Slow day at work. I just finished reading all 858 post!

I can’t really add anything that hasn’t already been posted 20 times over. lol.

Put me in the disappointed column though

They seemed pretty damned concrete about it.

Until I see it, I won’t believe it. I am not changing my conclusion oherwise.

Oh, and no one should be surprised at how this news was delivered. Shocked, sure. But surprised?

Think back to CAM. They announced it, and then THE NEXT DAY it was in the game as part of a patch. Defaulting to on. S.C.R.E.W the discussion and people who might not like it.

So yeah this slap in the face is a few steps up from the kick in the nuts delivery they went with there.

Whatever. Same as always- we’ll just have to smile and take it.

Hopefully the blow is softened if they’ve got something to announce that’s really

I asked about motion capture, character select, stages… Oh well

Unfortunately they can’t say anything about anything that isn’t announced or shown already… only clarifications and they have to be careful w/ some of those :weary:

They could have avoided giving us the “just three stages” news too. Or at least wait till they can explain why. The drama is their fault for poor timing.

They don’t, but our game does. Or did, for the first two seasons.

not at the expense of new stages.

I wasn’t responded to, that’s all

I heard them saying three a stage limit was because of they were planning something huge for season 3

Bad news would be worst on launch day. I can guarantee you! 100%.

Also for those saying “this is a disaster” or “KI is dead before s3 even launched”

Be thankful your getting another season. MS didn’t have to give us it.
