Killer Instinct Season 3 Graphics Shine Brighter

I’m not underestimating the devs job at all but as a KI fan I would trade all lighting rework in the world for individual stages.

talking about multiple stages…

The only thing ATM I can possibly think of being the reason is that, yes it was a Herculean task. But what if for the other characters they’re simply going the Shadow Tigers Lair route and simply making variations on stages with different lighting, and effects. Alongside each new characters theme I honestly wouldn’t be too upset at this option. Imagine the Pinnacle being ripped apart by the portal for Gargos’ stage. Which I guess is why they couldn’t talk about it because then they’d have to talk about unannounced characters. Idk just my speculation.

fighting games aren’t competing with each other, there isn’t a definitive ‘fighting game’ to compete against. It doesn’t work like other genres because each fighting game out there is so fundamentally different from one another.

You will want to hear from @TotalJimkata. He’s like you in a lot of ways in this regard, and totally has your back on this point. As we discussed the potential of this system, and how we display it, he was the number 1 proponent of “you have to see it in action.” I know that doesn’t help you now, but once you see it I would love to hear your thoughts.

It’s alright, bro XD

I’m waiting or this thread to get heated so that I can post a video of a cat playing with a dog to calm everyone down. But this thread looks pretty tame

Guys you do realized making stages are EXPENSIVE as heck. This could mean we’re gonna get a huge surprised from the developers.

like what? triple xp weekend?

Right, right. Of course, I’ve seen enough of Wu’s stage from footage to know that we won’t have that issue there.

I’ll bug James on his twitter to see if he can chime in. :stuck_out_tongue:

Exactly! And from what I remember, making characters is the second most expensive thing to make in this game, so it’ll be great if the devs focused on characters and other goodies.

The new lighting looks AMAZING! Like, seriously.

It’s a little disappointing that there’s only going to be 3 stages though, but it isn’t THAT big of a deal to me – especially when you consider how many stages the game already has. What does worry me about this though, is what characters will get stages and who won’t? Every character has always had their own stage (aside from the bonus characters), so it’s going to be weird seeing some characters not getting any now. And if a specific character doesn’t get their stage anymore, how will we hear their music?

I bet the reason why they couldn’t get more stages is because of their budget. KI has always been a “budget fighter” so it doesn’t surprise me that a major cut had to happen eventually. They probably had 2 choices: More stages, or better graphics. The game already has a ton of stages, but the games graphics were sorta “outdated” – so they probably went with that.

No m8… quadruple xp weekend XD

Nice. XD.

You guys prioritized lighting over new stages? What! Did the lighting in S1 and S2 become impossible for people to work with or something?

I’m assuming it will only be for the two main heroes, Kim Wu and Tusk. They showed us Arbiter’s stage.

i hope its just a conspiracy for the next community fund. We need more new stages, more new themes, new characters, Eyedol (see my poll Eyedol Vs. Shadow characeters, everybody wants Eyedol in this game 2016). And most of all the highly requested feature: Ultimate finishers for every single ■■■■ character in the game.

Sorry IGS you broke my heart. And most of us are really disapointed. Why? I dont know if im going to spend some money because the news here are scary and strange.

Also, another thing: I appreciate the team actually discussing what they can about this matter (only 3 stages). A lot of devs, when the complaints start rolling in, they start to “damage control” and complete ignore their fanbase. Judging by @rukizzel has said, it seems pretty obvious that it’s because of their budget/resources/time they have to work with for Season 3.

I read answers like these: “if they not doing internships can do much more” but I say, what ??? what to do in a fighting game if not stages and characters? Now we do not do the characters so we have more money to go there to eat pizza!
