I don’t agree JD and Orchid are all that similar. Old Orchid, sure (kind of). New rebel, high-pressure, in-your-face Orchid? No.
JD is a pro agent that relies on guns and gadgets to get the job done. Her personality is nothing like the new Orchid, so I would expect their gameplay and characteristics to be completely different.
thnx! Also she’s already looking like a KI character. She may look like Orchid but vessel doesn’t count. Im talking about the essence of the character, what she have from inside. As long as she’ll be the gunslinger of the game, her gameplay would be totally different and i guess Joanna being Orchid alike could increase their rivalry. Both chicks trying to prove who’s the best.
So what we’ll have if Joanna Dark make it as a guest? A gunsliger girl. Orchid will remain a female fighter. Whatever their jobs are.
I actually wonder if Lara Croft might be in the discussion for the other guest character. Didn’t really think of that… sure, she’s a timed exclusive, but I think she fits KI more than someone from Halo/Gears. Whatever beating she would take in KI would be a far cry from the incalculable beating she’s taking in the modern games, lol.
The “problem” with that is that modern Lara is an insanely detailed character model and the one they would have to use in KI wouldn’t look nearly that good. By contrast, they could make Jo/Master Chief look really nice since their games are either old and outdated, or not as focused on the character model, so the feeling of “hmm… that doesn’t look as nice as the actual game” wouldn’t come up.
Somebody said Joanna Daek shouldn’t be in the game because she isn’t the most popular.
I’m not sure I ever heard national conversation about Rash the Toad before this announcement for season 3
Thats debatable because this is a re make not a continuation in the story.
I have to stay true to joannas lore and ggst means its her retro costume , i mean she even looks younger.
Perfect dark sold huges amounts more than battle toads.
But in the US battle toads are loved.

Being retro is based on our timeline, not the character’s timeline. It’s meant to evoke memories of your early gaming days, not fit into the character’s lore.
If the new Tomb Raider game is a prequel to all other Tomb Raider games, for instance, the new-look Lara does not suddenly become the retro version.
There isn’t a gunslinger in KI that’s already unique archetype
So they make her retro outfit the pixlated, SEGA Saturn Tomb Raider.

This is directed at no one in this thread, but it seems a general sense of any female character being presented is being compared to Orchid W TF
If she does make the cut Im guessing her syle will possibly be zoner,trap.
This reminds me of both Aria Glacius and Kanra with using her tech with backup like Elvis or Jonathan but possibly play like Erron Black in MKX
So her story isnt gong to involve datadyne then?
If she continued as young joanna (the newest in the time line costume and look) she will have not even met datadyne yet and that would rule out a load of story.
Perfect dark isnt a reboot so neither should joannah be. I understand what you are saying but most of the story similarities between KI and PD come from the 1st game it would be silly to rule them out.

They can have Jo involved with datadyne somehow and still look like she does in PDZ. I don’t see what would be a difficult stretch about that.
We are simply talking about how she looks. Her appearance, and more to the point, how we NAME her appearances, has absolutely no relevance to the story. Even if Joanna still has her redhead PD0 appearance, her old short-haircut appearance is “retro” because it’s a callback to her first appearance on an older system.
There is no in-universe explanation for “modern vs. retro” and there never will be one because they’d never get anywhere if they got into this habit of overthinking things.
Retro: PD 0 or PD design
Modern: New apparence
Glacius, Jago, Orchid, Fulgore… They modern design its based in their old, but not equal. Retro’s are their original model
Same with Joanna if she makes it
