Guest characters don't have to be from MS IPs

Actually, Shadow was in there too.

Here’s my take. If we really got guest characters outside of MS, they still have to be unique and add something to the game itself. That’s the standard I hold for every character to be released, but I also expect guest characters to stay faithful to their original appearance on top of all this. Every character in the game has a trait that makes them different from everybody else. If we look at the guest characters that we have now, Rash has his tongue which leads to crazy set ups and juggle potential, Arbiter has bullets and plasma grenades, and RAAM is a full-on grappler. I’m against Shao Kahn here because I don’t think he has anything unique to offer here (I feel that way about most of the MK characters actually).

At this point, I don’t know who they could put in, or what they could do. I really don’t.

Well, kenshi has his ghost options and you could turn that into a full-on puppet character, but if that’s the archetype you want and we’re talking from a standpoint of “anyone can go in”…why not dio?

While I’m actually against adding an MK character into KI, I could still argue that Scorpion could bring some unique mechanics to the table - his spear could be a ranged command grab that can hit from anywhere, whereas his teleport punch could be based off of the edge of the screen (disappearing from one side only to reappear from the other) - both of which are things that nobody in KI (technically) currently does.

Whenever I look at a character and think about how they could work in KI, (which is something I do a lot TBH) the combo traits and gimmicks are one of the first things I think about.

To keep it consistent with what I was talking about earlier, let’s look at Shadow.

What do we know about him? He’s fast, he has a super form, he relies on punches and kicks where Sonic relies more on spin dashes and homing attacks. Making him a prime candidate for a fighting game, he has Chaos Control which can be used to slow down time as well as teleport (according to Sonic 06).

We know Smash already uses the super form so that would be out of the question. You could make a combo trait out of Chaos Control if you wanted to. You could also make a combo trait out of his speed. His dash could be a really fast run with long recovery that could be used for quick crossup juggles.

See how I pick apart the character? It’s really not hard to make just about anything into a KI character if you have the time. Just sit and think about whatever character you want to. Then pick them apart until you have everything you would need to make a KI character work. It’s a really fun creative exercise!

EDIT: Hell, someone could make a Youtube series out of this.

Didn’t you just express disdain at another teleporter…? As a Yoshi fan myself, I’m not disagreeing, I’m just saying… he is a teleporter.

Also, as far as I remember (from only playing one Shadow game that I can’t recall the name of) Shadow is very much unlike Sonic in that Shadow has a gun. A gun. An anthropomorphic hedgehog with a gun!

Honestly though, as big a fan of guest characters in FG’s as I am, and as little as I know about Halo, I’m more intrigued by some of their characters as possible guests than anything else. Specifically… ummm… can’t remember names, sorry… the big awesome ape-looking gravity-hammer wielders. FREAKING GRAVITY HAMMERS!? Also Skorge, cuz who didn’t wish Darth Maul had chainsaws instead of lightsabers? Don’t answer that.

An MK guest would be okay in my book, mostly because I WANT to like MK, but I just… no, no I cannot. My vote would be for Ferra/Torr, because that looked like the lone interesting aspect of MKX, from my perspective. I actually REALLY REALLY wanna play Ferra/Torr, but I equally DON’T want to have to get within 10 city blocks of MKX in order to do so. I think her/his gameplay is super interesting in concept, and that the IG team could incorporate it into the KI system without much (if any) difficulty.

I could also get behind Drew from Scalebound, but mostly because I am in a minority that enjoyed FFX. Did you see his neato headphones + dragon arm? Sign me up! I bet his theme would be danceable.

There’s actually probably half a dozen others I could go on to babble about, but I think I may be overstaying my welcome with this post. All in all, I support more guests for KI, whoever they are, so long as they don’t make up 50% or more of the roster. 49% is fine with me.

'Cause portals, dammit.

I think that’s dumb. I’d prefer my guest characters to at least be from another game. It’s not the same for anime, movies, TV, etc for me because that’s just from a visual standpoint. Video game guest characters are the best way to do it IMO because it’s cool to see what things from their own game can be transferred over. My 2 primary examples are Akuma in Tekken 7, who pretty much brought 2D into 3D, and Link in SC2 since he can actually use items when he fights.

Oh, and Kenshiro > any Jojo character.

Also, hell no. Kenshiro is fine, in the same way that vanilla ice cream with no cone and no toppings is fine. Jojo characters are great.

By the way, because you were talking about Raiden earlier, what song from MGR would you have Celldweller and Atlas Plug remix for his appearance?

Impossible questions are impossible.

Rules of nature is the obvious answer, and I think it would be the one that most people would want, but I’ve always liked collective consciousness/it has to be this way more.

Problem is Rules of Nature is kind of a meme now. People probably wouldn’t take it as seriously.

I would have to go with Stains of Time.

The nice thing is there really isn’t a wrong answer here because the whole soundtrack is awesome.

It’s funny cause it’s so true lol.

I think a combination of them would work well with Rules of Nature being a the 16 hit combo theme. I like A Stranger I Remain.

Scorpion’s spear can be blocked so basically it would be like starting a combo from a really far point of the screen. I don’t think it would be right if you can block it in MK but not in KI. Glacius and Gargos fit this category.

Hisako does this. She goes into the ground and out and disappears from one side and reappears to the other. In terms of just teleporting from corner to corner, Fulgore and Spinal does it too. Both of them can also attack from the teleports as well.

The most unique thing I can see coming from Scorpion is MK strings even though TJ already has TJ Combinations and Cinder with Third Degree. The only problem with that is I don’t know how that would work as a combo trait. I don’t think interactables would be a good idea because that would mean putting some random stuff in the stages that only Scorpion can use at that point.

I just got a crazy idea! What if Bladewolf was the guest???

Throwing knife projectiles and pounce grapples. He would be like another Riptor!

If we’re talking gameplay in the Halo series…Arbiter and Chief are practically identical

Look, if Shadow was ever in the game, he would be the only character I ever would play…in any game period. But it’s not gonna happen. Even KI has limits as far as what kind of characters fit within a game’s theme, and the Sonic series is, IMO, outside of that.

I’m sure Dio will be awesome if he’s playable in KI!
I bet community will complain about him because his The World is too OP. lol

I’m usually against guest characters but if I had to choose one that isn’t a MS property, it would hands down be either Ryu Hayabusa or Strider Hiryu.

KI needs true ninjas dammit. Jago, I love ya, but you don’t count.
