The trailer might not be done yet if work has already been started on it.
Maybe they’ll show it at E3 because they want a large majority of gamers eyes on the trailer, rather than just a large majority of FG fans, like when they showed RAAM last year. Although, RAAM was most likely shown at E3 because he’s a guest character from GoW and that made it easy to market him and KI to gamers in general. Honestly, I think the trailer will be shown at CEO (June 16-18) because it’s the weekend right after E3 and Rukari said Eagle won’t be out until after E3.
That’s just how I think it could be from the other side. It would have been cool to have a playable build of Eagle at Combo Breaker like the one for ARIA at Combo Breaker 2015. Hopefully we get a steady flow of Eagle info leading up to the trailer since the trailers are mainly for those who don’t follow Twitter updates or news posted here on the forums.
So you already know what he plays like? Please tell me how similar he is to Fulgore with bow and arrows and his whip. The devs said he’s not a remix so I don’t know why you’re all doom and gloom thinking Eagle is one.
clone characters feel half-baked to me. Like I said in the post youre replying to, they seem like characters that are halfway done. The outside has to match the inside, not one or the other. At least thats how I see what a “new” character should be.
New animations, unique mechanics, original character design that differentiates them from the other characters. Thunder and Raam are both grapple characters but theres no way you’d mistake the two for example.
But I’m glad we’re both in agreement, they ARE remix characters.
Clone characters feel like redos of characters to me than actual unique/new characters.
as for the Shago/Kilgore thing, I bought them fully knowing they’re reworked versions of their counterparts. Not because I thought they were unique characters.
I guess I was just expecting too much. I was hoping for a wildly unique character, aesthetically and mechanically. Instead we got Thunder’s brother.
He’s ok I guess, but not a great choice for the reasons I posted above. Its like getting vanilla instead of chocolate when you order icecream, icecream is better than no icecream, but I really wanted chocolate.
Shago and Fulgore are remix characters, that’s why they share similarities with Jago and Fulgore. We can’t have nothing but new, unique characters. Do we need to maintain some sort of pointless quota of having nothing but a unique roster in KI?
Video games in general reuse assets, it’s not something new that KI has done, but the devs have done it to make characters that, while similar to their counterparts, play completely different. Also, who, besides casuals that only look at a character at face value, is going to mistake Shago for Jago or Kilgore for Fulgore?
Just because Eagle is Thunder’s brother and Fulgore is using his brain you seem to be all doom and gloom that he’s just a clone of Thunder and Fulgore. From the teaser we know that he has a bow and arrows, a whip, an eagle familiar or guardian, and he’s got Glacius’ glyphs on his body since Glacius resuscitated him after rescuing him from Ultratech. We have no idea how he plays, but based on what we’ve seen and the devs having said that he’s a unique character and not a remix, lets not start assuming he’s just a Thunder/Fulgore clone.
“He’s Thunder’s brother” seems like a weird peg to hang your hat on about disliking the character for being insufficiently original. We don’t know what he fully looks like, how he stands or moves, or anything of note about the character. If nothing else, just his weapons of choice (arrows and what looks like a whip) indicate that he will play substantially differently from Thunder
I’m kind of surprised people were expecting a full-on trailer. I was only ever expecting the standard tease, so when I saw a standard tease I was pretty content. More info would’ve been nice of course, but not sure why anyone would’ve been expecting it given how KI characters have generally been rolled out.
Eww, Orchid is a remix, since she is Jago’s sister
Eww, Mira is a remix, since she is Maya’s sister
Those characters are clearly equal gameplay and design wise, surely Eagle will grab you with his bow like Thunder, and the mechanical eagle will be his hat during shamanism dp
doesn’t want to argue
Argues
There was no trolling, no retcon, etc. anyone that carefully followed the story would’ve picked up on the clues, hints etc that Eagle was a separate entity, namely the fact that they avoided referring to certain terms when explaining them. All that was given in season 1 was that Eagle wasn’t dead therefore no remains to be found and that his consciousness was used to create the ultimate fighter (Fulgore). In the latter ending it hinted at thunder fighting that fulgore model possibly losing which would explain why he was looking for his brother in fulgore models.
Another thing to take note of is the playable fulgore in this game is a 3rd (Mark 03) model while the first model was destroyed, if Eagle were fulgore that would mean he was the 1st model maybe even the 2nd… thus destroyed, disabled etc so he still wouldn’t be the fulgore in the game.
I guess when they said “New character”, i thought they were adding in something original that wasnt tied to anything presently part of the game. Eagle falls under that categorization.
I expected too much and now I am disappoint.
If Eagle looked like a superhero character and wasnt named Eagle, I probably would be more excited since that pushes the concept towards more originality and that little nudge to me would mean that yes, he IS a “New character”.
Maybe if they announced Eagle as a “LEGACY character” I would be more accepting. If they told me “Hey Slamjam, we’re gonna add in a character thats part of the game’s lore that hasnt been in KI yet!” I’d be like, “WHOA thats amazing! Who could it be?! Kahn-ra’s babylonian king? Sadira’s master?! ARIA’s creator!? Eagle?!”
But since it wasn’t distinguished as such, I had completely different expectations, I was thinking they were going to add more lore, not add something already established.
He’s not a legacy character, he hasn’t been in any of the previous games. He is a brand new character design that literally hasn’t been seen before in KI, that by definition is a new character.
The main thing I get from your last post is “I wanted a superhero character” which is fine, but doesn’t make Eagle a clone or a remix character.
when I say legacy character, I mean a character like “gouken” in SFV. Hes part of the game but his presence was only ever felt in the story until he was made to be part of the cast.
I dont know how Eagle plays, he could be a clone of fulgore or a remix of thunder where they tweak his aesthetic/mechanical concepts. The reason I dont see him as a “new character” is because hes not new in the world of KI.
Thats what this gets down to for me. Hes new to the game, sure. But I was also expecting the “new character” to be New to the KI-verse like Kilgore is or Shago is. And as I’ve stated, I consider those characters to be reworks of already established characters.
An aesthetic difference along with a mechanical difference has to be there.
Eagle fits in. He’s part of the canon, but thats why I wouldve been more accepting of the teaser if he was marketed as a “legacy” character because hes someone we know of but hasnt been in the game yet. “New character” to me implies a brand new addition to the cast and world.
The way he was teased could’ve been handled better.
Those characters ARE reworks of existing characters, Eagle is a design which literally hasn’t been seen before. You may have assumed it was a totally 100% never crossed your brain synapses new buy it not being so doesn’t make this a legacy character, that term suggests someone who has been in a previous game, and would ACTUALLY have been bad marketing for the character.
