Eagle Revealed!

Please enough of this. I don’t want this thread become rant and arguments.

@FGCSlamjam Nobody forces you change your opinion on next character. But please stop it.

Who are you guys to try and act like mods of this thread?
If you got a problem, contact a mod instead of telling other people to shut up.
You’re being awfully rude, unfair and crossing a line that is not yours to cross.
You don’t have the authority, so stop acting like you do.

Alright, moving on now.

You pretty much mean this, correct?

you would rather have a completely unrelated monster-esque character that doesn’t borrow any assets or lore from other characters, and that’s fine.

It must be nice to be able to make up your own definitions.

Well… IG did it, with their “remix” characters.

Yeah, but it makes more sense than calling them clones because Ken & Ryu mostly play the same with slightly different focus, but Fulgore and Kilgore are wildly different despite sharing assets, etc.

At least Ken & Ryu did initially. They obviously have evolved over the years.

How about we take a step back and relax.

Eagle is a new character to the game, never was in one before, despite his name being part of previous lore and comics. That said, it’s our last character of the post S3 content.

I’m excited and stoked to see how he plays differently to the cast. Especially this Nakoruru-like helper.

This would be the same if people were up in arms about Laura Matsuda being a Ken and Ryu clone character because she is Sean’s older sister prior to seeing anything about her moves.

As much as I would have loved to see the new full trailer, I think this teaser did what it was supposed to. Look how many people are talking about it. Me honestly, I haven’t seen much on the news front for KI in a long time. Even coming to the ultra-combo website seemed like the team was just on cruise control. I mean, the scroll still has patch updates from back in March on it. So I think this does breath some new life into KI.

I am glad that they did add Eagle. Seems to put a nice little bow on it as far as including everyone. Especially since they added Eyedol. As much as I was not happy to see Eyedol, he is a cool character. I am interested to see how Eagle will play. I am thinking that he will be a balanced character similar to how Fulgore is a balanced character. I think he’ll have a good zoning and rush down option to him. Only reason I say that is because since Eagles fighting spirit or brain code was imprinted on the Mark 03, and that’s how Fulgore fights, I would imagine that Eagle will do the same, but in his own unique way. Based on his mixed martial arts background from what I remember from Thunder’s novella, I think that with that, and glacius’s powers, that gives him some more than super human abilities. Pulling all this from my butt, but that’s my theory as to what type of fighter he’ll be. I think he’ll be hybrid zoner/rushdown.

Oh? Familler how im lookin at glacius but im not seein it itd be cool though guess i just need a side by side

My issue with the teasers is that they are so distant in time that they lose strenght

It’s in hands of @rukizzel now, but I hope we begin to get new stuff during this week.

This week: One of the remaining ultimates reveal, Eagle full body reveal
Next week: Another ultimate, Eagle colors, one of his moves gif, textual stream
E3 week: Eagle trailer, retro and accesories, another ultimate
Post E3 week: Eagle stream, another Ultimate
June last week: Eagle release(because we all know it will be the last week), last ultimate(for now) reveal

This would be cool, instead of 2 weeks of silence, two goodies, and then silence until a week prior Eagle launch.

no offense, but you just mini modded right there

I do feel that KI has more competition lately with staying relevant. I mean, Injustice 2, SFV is still coming out with new characters, Tekken 7 is on the horizon, GG revelator V2, and MVC-I gaining speed. Fighting games are on the rise again. So maybe the paced it out also to fit in with other big news from these other games as well.

Alright, I’ve cooled off, I can admit I went too far. Sorry about that.

Could be that Ultratech used Glacius’ technology, since they had already stolen it for Cinder and used it on Eagle while creating Fulgore.

LOVE THE IDEA!

wish they had made eagle a SHE though for the remake…

would have been a nice twist that the winner of the original Ki tournament was female.[quote=“Dayv0, post:213, topic:20941”]

I see what you mean here, but could you explain why a character being referenced in the lore takes away from them being “new” to you?

Personally, if anything, I like when a character referenced in the lore turns in to a playable character. I mean, we got references to Mira before she was ever announced, so I was even more hyped for her when it finally happened. But that’s just me.

Why does a character existing in the lore make them “not new” though? By this definition, Mira wasn’t new, and you seem to be okay with her. Taking it a step further, why would this be disappointing to you?

FWIW, I get that it’s your opinion and you’re absolutely entitled to feel the way that you do. A lore character isn’t as exciting to you as something that’s never been referenced before. I get that. But I think you’re kinda tripping over the word “new” a bit. Or perhaps defining it too rigidly for others taste?

Obviously, you can define the term as you see fit, but I think you’d likely get a bit less push back if you just said that a lore character doesn’t excite you as much as something that’s never been referenced before.

But even then, it still doesn’t account for why you’re okay with Mira, but disappointed by Eagle. You take issue with Eagle being Thunder’s brother, but not with Mira being Maya’s sister. You take issue with Eagle being a legacy character, and being referenced before, but Mira was referenced before. So why does one of them bother you, but not the other?

To me, that seems logically inconsistent, so if you could clear that up, I’d appreciate it.

Also, it’s important to remember that MS / IG defines a new character as not being a remix. That has been stated. That’s what they promised and that’s what they’re delivering.

I dunno man, people seem to be rather finicky about the order that things appear in and get upset when they don’t get something. Some REALLY tend to prefer to see a teaser first, then a trailer, then the breakdown stream.

Now, I get what you’re saying about this tease happening at a less than opportune time, or rather, being a sort of “moment wasted” given the venue and how many FGC eyes were on KI.

But I’d have to think that people knew who it was and they even stated who it was, so if anything, maybe they were hoping that giving a little taste would pique people’s interest so that they’re aware to look for something KI related in the next few weeks, such as at E3.

I’ll certainly concede that a tiny teaser next to what NRS showed with Red Hood made KI’s reveal look a bit plain by comparison, and perhaps they should’ve assumed that other games might show something, but oh well. In the end, they have to do what they think is best and maybe they just wanted to give us something small to start the hype up before really getting it going at E3.

As for Eagle…

Personally, I’m conflicted. As the last major character, lore or otherwise, Eagle being revealed kinda makes me wonder if he’s not the final bow on the gift that’s been KI. We know he’s the final post-season 3 character, but does that mean he’s the final character, period?

I’m also assuming now that Eagle’s trailer will be shown at E3, so will this be everything KI related that’s shown at E3? If season 4’s not at least referenced at E3, it’s really going to make me start thinking that the game’s done for the most part, which would be unfortunate.

Granted, that’s an assumption on my part and one shouldn’t assume things, I know, but given how long we’ve been in “post-season 3” mode, not getting some type of “season 4 is happening” announcement at the biggest showcase of the year would seem to be relatively telling, at least to me.

On the other hand…

WOO HOO!!! Eagle!! FINALLY! So glad we’ll be able to play as him, and I’m really curious what they’ll do with him from a story standpoint. He looks freaking cool as hell, he seems to have a bow and arrow and a whip, which both sound insanely fun in a KI atmosphere, and I can’t wait to see what crazy stuff they’ve come up with for him.

Can’t wait!

You know, I actually dig Eagle. I love Green Arrow, but I2 sucks, so archer in KI is perfect consolation. AND, he has a whip!

Maybe they’ll be inspired to show us hero art and give hints to his move set and accessories.

I agree the trickle effect is unsavory after knowing so much stellar release schedule timing from studios like netherrealm

What would be most interesting is if he doesn’t use the whip in game and it’s just cosmetic like Kan ras trinkets

Then maybe he uses the whip in his ultra ender like Kan Ra uses his book lol
