I’ll body you in the Beta then!
What beta?
I really like Tien. Curiously, both Krilin and Tien, the most powerful humans, have both strange atributes, being a triclops and someone without nose XD
Speaking about Tien, what I expect from him:
I expect him as a a heavy projectile character, with a multi angled Dodonpa(or even with tracking properties) to mantain his opponent grounded. Of course, his signature move, Kikoho, will be his super Lvl 3, and maybe he could have a regular version which has a lot of priority, destroying other projectiles, but also inflicting potential damage to Tien. It also fits as assist attack.
I don’t think he could have his Shiyoken technique included, but could fit to make him a stance character. He could also have Chaozu as support, in a different way than 17-18, like firing delayed Dodonpas to allow Tien for some interesting mixups
I hope Tien’s LVL 3 is a tiny Chiaotzu that grabs onto your back and explodes. Save that Tri-beam for a LVL 1.
Lol. So he can only do his level 3 once and the recipient remains unharmed afterwards?
They get an armor reduction lol
What are the chances to have different costumes for the characters?
Given that they showed us 18 with a different outfit, although it could be only for cinematics, what are the chances of new costumes for everyone?
18’s in a different outfit: https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/WQuUVooCvKk
If we get an extra costume for the characters, what do you believe could be? My bet:
Goku: Actually this is a thought one. There are many options, like shirtless Goku, or God Goku
Gohan: Namek Gohan
Cell: Imperfect Cell or Semi-Perfect Cell
Frieza: Frieza’s first form
Buu: Uhh… Actually I don’t know XD Could be something non-canon, like a Hercule’s costume
Piccolo: Battle damaged Piccolo
Trunks: Future Trunks, Zamasu saga
Krillin: Krillin, Buu saga
18: The same as the video
16: Damaged 16(Could have more brokens parts in the rest of the body
I don’t think we’ll see too much in the way of alternate costumes. Apparently, the one weakness of that super-cool visual engine is that the models don’t have easily swapped “accessories” like a KI or SFV. For them, creating another costume is supposedly almost like building another character. While wild color variations seem easy enough to do, alt costumes are quite difficult. GG has literally two dozen color variations per character, but in spite of people asking (a lot) for them, ASW never managed to put in alternate outfits.
That said, ASW is just like any business in that making money is their overarching concern. I don’t know what kind of numbers GG pulled, but DBFZ will surely do considerably more. If enough people buy the game that it seems like costumes will be profitable, then they’ll probably be added at some point. I’m just not expecting any to come too soon.
How is the netcode for GG? They want to put in a six player online mode, I hope that means great netcode. Although honestly that mode is gonna have lag no matter what if you match up with people all over the world
I think 17&18 are swappable. Hell they have the exact same stance in game.
GG’s netcode is good, though definitely not KI good. It uses delay-based code, but it tells you at all times what that delay is so at least you know what you’re working with. 2-4 frames of lag is fine to playable, while once you start seeing 6 and 7 it’s noticeable and not much fun.
I’m hoping the netcode is an improvement on GG’s; with such a time gap between the two games I feel like that should be doable. KI has spoiled me mightily in terms of how I want my games to play online.
Probably this is because so many of the animations involve distortion of the model. I don’t think it’s just an animated skeleton going through motions where you can just put a new puppet in. You would have to redo all the wackiness by hand for each outfit. That’s just a guess.
ASW doesn’t sell huge numbers of units for their GG or BlazBlue franchises. It’s impossible to. Get reliable numbers but I’d be stunned if all the versions of Xrd added up to a million in sales. I am not a huge fan of the games, but I am always impressed with the quality of the work that they do in what amounts to very small money projects. This is also why they are so dependent on selling the same small audience three versions of (mostly) the same game. So I suspect you are right that Dragonball will have higher sales potential. Whether that translates to DLC or not is a good question. Do Dragonball characters have different outfits to choose from? They all seem to wear one thing.
They occasionally change outfits, but not often.

There’s definitely enough for them to pull a few from for most characters.
The thing is not if they have several costumes(they have), it’s more like if the alternate costumes are relevant enough.
To put an example, pink shirt Vegeta is super brief, it’s meme worth, but not relevant to Vegeta
Sayain saga Vegeta(with big soulder armor and scouter), Cell saga Vegeta, or Majin Vegeta are 3 different costumes which could be iconic for Vegeta(even more in a FG), but pink shirt Vegeta, although meme worthy, doesn’t feel much iconic for the character.
This applies to most of the costumes the characters use.
At the end, there are very few options per character. Some, like Piccolo or Buu, have even less options
This is just me personally, but I would much rather have Vegeta in his pink shirt alt outfit than, say, Ken from SF in a cowboy outfit.
I’m not saying the pink shirt would be the best option, just that it would be an option. Hell, if they needed to for characters that didn’t have alternate outfits they could likely just get Akira Toriyama to draw them out some stuff.
I would rather have a ■■■■ sandwich than Ken in a cowboy outfit. That thing was just awful…
