Do you think we've spoilt as a community?

One other thing that needs to stop: People need to stop overreacting about one or two people saying something stupid on Twitter/Chat/Forum and acting like that makes a large group of people that say something. There was an incident not long ago where one prominent FGC member tweeted out something and that somehow morphed into people claiming the entire KI community ■■■■■■■■ about something that virtually no one else was talking about.

If you have issues with what someone says, talk to them about it. That’s what social media is all about. But don’t tar everyone else with someone’s opinion and say “All KI players thing X because Y person said X.” or “All SFV players thing X because Y person said X.” because it’s just ridiculous and causes more drama and toxicity than it’s worth.

Identity politics has ruined American politics already, let’s not let that seep into our community by tarring everyone that agrees with one statement as believing a litany of other things, or because one community leader says something, everyone else must believe it too.

Addendum: The inclination to jump on dumb people can be just as toxic as the people being dumb in the first place.

Okay, we’re getting severely off topic.

Some topics are not worth getting into or worth the time of day.

Focus on this topic or this gets closed.

It’s a shame. I’ve never seen any news like this about the KI community. It’s appalling.

Agreed.
You guys dont even care do you. THIS IS YOUR COMMUNITY. SUPPORT IT.
I’m extremely ashamed and upset with the state of KI right now.

The developers are great people. I have huge respect for them. I feel bad they had to go through this.

I just had to pop in and read all 182 posts to catch up on the drama… Now a lot of what I’ve read over the last few days makes a lot more sense. Going back and reading the stream chat was… a blow, to put it shortly.

I’m pretty new to KI. I’ve been following it since early S2, but hadn’t begun my journey playing until S3 dropped on PC. Previously, an avid GG and SF fan, I found myself more interested and invested in KI as my weekend leisure - y’know, catching the tourneys and streams. Learning about the game in anticipation of it dropping on my preferred platform (I don’t mess with consoles anymore, but that’s irrelevant), seeing and learning from high-level play, we all know the joys of spectatorship. If I’m being honest, it was ultimately the efforts (media, play, personality) of 4 people that truly sold me on KI (apart from lurking on the forums throughout S2 and being wholly impressed with the positivity and… ummm… “communityness” of the community in comparison to what I was used to in other FGC message-boards).

@Infilament - I wouldn’t have understood enough of what I was looking at to enjoy it without your hard work. I wouldn’t have been able to just jump in to S3 and play the game without your hard work either. Thank you.

@TheKeits - I’d never have dreamed that such dedication to a fanbase would be manifest in your level of community interaction. Your devotion to the game, the community, the genre, is nigh unprecedented. Further, your honesty and integrity is a breath of fresh air in today’s dev-communication environment, where no-news and maybe-laters are the accepted norm (not to mention days of yore where we just bought a game and lived with it, end of story). You involve yourself with your work when you are OFF THE CLOCK, to interact with the folks that consume your product. That in of itself should blow collective minds. I’m sorry your extra miles get trod without regard to the sacrifice you make.
Personal anecdote: I work on cars to earn my bread, and when I hit that clock at the end of the day, I don’t even want to hear an engine knock until the next morning. I go home and leave the shop at the shop. I think that’s true for many, if not most of us, in principle. That we (as a mass) cannot appreciate that your communication is indeed often a sacrifice of YOUR PERSONAL TIME is nothing short of shameful. I’m babbling, but long story short, Adam Heart the Individual is a large part of why I’m here in the first place. Lots of us appreciate you, fella. I’m not saying cut your vacation short - seems like a lot of us get it. I just wanna throw my +1 on the pile of well wishing.

The other two were top players that I loved to watch, and often found myself cheering for. I didn’t know much about them as people. After seeing the incident, the aftermath, and just a bit more about them in general (forum posts, streams, etc.) I must admit I’m glad I didn’t know about their personalities before I really got into KI and the community. Turns out they ain’t so great afterall.

And that’s the thing, y’all. Just because someone has a skill doesn’t mean they are beyond reproach. Being a top player doesn’t equate to free pass from decency, from dignity.

I’m with @Marbledecker, and whoever else said it or agreed - money talks. Pull your funding from the Toxic Avengers, and they deflate to mere Oscars.

But, here’s a weird idea: what about coordinated attempts to flood stream chats with positivity and knowledgeable feedback relevant to whatever stream we find ourselves a part of the chat in, eh? Like, opposite day but every day? I’m not saying flood’em with fanboyisms, but just upbeatness, enthusiasm, and joy to be enjoying something. Y’know, spread the fun a little. Like an ointment.

We do care and the appropriate action is being taken by the right people with what happened this past week.

We will get better.

We will. It’s just that the people who gave negative attention to KI should know that the developers are doing there best to make it a great game. Which it is.
I love this community but some people just need to behave.
In the open message from 8BBD they were really disappointed. Like wow. I’ve never heard news like this from KI ever it surprises me. The developers deserve an apology honestly. Like there are some people who criticize it so it can get better. But there are people who just don’t know how to keep their opinions to themselves or just don’t know how to behave. But I do believe we will get better.

Are we, though? This thread may not have started like this, but now it has become a thread about the idea of toxicity in the community and spreading misinformation. Polluted stream chats, unconstructive posts and complaints on forums, abusing developer interaction and insulting them, and accusing prominent, well meaning members of the community of fraud is all grouped up together in this issue.

If you want to turn these posts to a new thread because you feel this contradicts TC’s original intentions, then that’s fine.

i just read the tweets on keits twitter page. really? people think KI devs are being bribed to buff and nerf certain characters??? LOL. cmon. wtf is goin on out there, bad enough a certain pro player wanted to start a gofundme to get fulgore nerfed (if it was a joke or not, i do not know) smfh

After watching about half of the archived VOD on Twitch (without seeing the chat) it’s a ■■■■ shame that people have to ruin the experience for everyone. Because just from what I’ve seen it was a tournament with some really good matches and to force the focus off of this showcase of peoples talent and skill with some BS drama is very disappointing.

I hope that these people feel bad for what they’ve done but I have a strange suspicion that they aren’t going to lose any sleep over it.

I just read the open letter. Right now I have nothing to say but this…

We need to not let this community turn into the Call of Duty community because that community is already a barren wasteland of toxic people.

It’s disgusting how one group can mess everything up for everybody.

At least I can say the KI Community can never become the Sonic community.

Hopefully.

Is it even really the KI community and not just top players, TO’s, and developers who are fighting? Doesn’t really seem like the majority of the people here are fighting. I guess they are the KI while we aren’t a big deal.

Nah, I doubt it would go this way nor the CoD community.

My whole point is that if something that sounds so far fetched to begin with, in my mind, it doesn’t deserve the time or place especially when there’s legitimate contradictions that go against said claim that you can quote some of the devs on and make other claims on the person that decided to go this route. There’s a quote I said before:

“Believe half of what you see, and nothing of what you hear.”

I get the idea of being displeased with the actions of people and using it as a basis of how not to act when talking about adjustments. However, when something like what was said above comes up and we make mention of it, it does nothing but try to spread unnecessary propaganda that the only thing we have to go off of is a stupid rumor that was already debunked. However, I can see the other side and using it as a basis of also what not to do and we should know this is too reaching to begin with.

That’s why I said it’s nothing worth mentioning, because anyone can do it and it was immediately debunked. The stuff mentioned in the Pro League is something I agree can be brought up and as we’ve already seen, many of us agree that these actions are not appropriate.

The good people here severely outnumber the bad apples so there’s no doubt we’ll be better as a community and as a family

I don’t think it needs to be said outright that they weren’t referring to “everyone” in the community.
[/quote]Or does it? Its kind of insulting when we’re seeing “open letters” shaming the community when they could just send a few private messages to the misbehaving children directly. :stuck_out_tongue:

You make a good argument, and I agree with the idea of not propagandizing gossip that is obviously false.

But I feel like the reason the rumor started in the first place is linked to this anger with the developers and trying to find an excuse for it. That’s why I’m talking about it.

Besides, counter breaker rumors have been debunked, but we don’t see that problem going anywhere, do we?

Here is the aforementioned discussion video @SonicDolphin117 and I made. I hope we can move past all this and continue to be a strong community.

Seems like ZergKiller is the one that is causing the Ruckus

He seems to be speaking for everyone. Doesn’t remember big achievements in the community like the KI cup and upcoming festivities such as KI Con.
