Dark Souls 3 (SPOILERS ARE BLURRED. VIEW AT YOUR OWN RISK)

Hey I bought the lighting weapon from Yoale but i cant get it to work. Is there a specific sword I need to attach the magic to?
I made it to the 2nd boss but before going inside I was trying to grab a few more souls and level up before I went in. …lost 15,000 to fat lady and some other bum. Ughhhhh so frustrating!

I got everything in that area except for the few bits heading towards the Road and sewer…and the giant tower dude. I may go do that before I head in to fight tree beard.

But at least I finally beat Lords of the Fallen, what a great game and Im pretty far into Bloodborne…I love that game!

Wait what, lvl 118 and you needed help beating the final boss?
I noticed you’ve put some points into luck. That is a useless stat to put points into  Unless you want to play around with Anri’s sword.

If you want to complete all achievements you basically have to beat NG++ with the same character. There are +1 & +2 versions of rings that can only be found in NG + & ++.
Also, depending on the ending you got and how you did with NPC’s they can all lock out additional spells & poses. (same thing goes for weapons & armor).

My sorceress is up against Pontiff next in NG++ and I am getting everything this run. If you need any help or tips on what to get, what to do & what to avoid just ask away  Or do like me and glue yourself to wikis because this game is picky on how you get things >_>

If you mean to use the spell ‘magic weapon’ you can only use that spell(and similar buffspells) on weapons that are clean from other magicks.

Or you mean you bought the spell from him I suppose. Because Yoel sells no lightning weapons
If so you need to equip a staff in your left hand, attune the spell via the bonfire and have your weapon equipped in your right hand. Then use the spell and change back to your shield.

Yes, that’s it! Spell magic Weapon. Looks like the Soul arrow spell but with a Blue Sword in the pic. Got it from the Turtle guy Yolea. I tried to equip it with other weapons and it wouldn’t work. My Axes have Magic so those dont work but my Bastardd, Claymore, ect… are only leveled up…no magic and still wouldnt work.

Ahhh… I didnt have the staff in my left hand… thats the problem! thanks

edited.

I had the exact same problems with this boss that I did with
Aldritch
; even with super heavy gear and the correct resistances, I had to spend 90% of my time dodging (because blocks were being broken by his stronger hits) and was doing little to no damage, not because I wasn’t strong enough, but because I didn’t have the time or stamina to be close and land hits.

I tried fighting him four times on my own, and decided to not frustrate myself like I did with
Aldrich
and just grab some assistance. My miracles were next to useless, because I didn’t physically have time to stand still for the cast.

I haven’t, actually. 10 points is standard for a Herald, which is the base class I started with.

I did assume that I would need to go into NG+ to get some rings or spells I’ve missed, but I wasn’t expecting to need the second playthrough too. As I said, I will probably leave this guy in Journey 1 so I can start the DLC stuff as soon as it comes out, and play up a second character to rerun through the game with.

It says 11

I believe all Soulsgames have been like this, To get 100% achievements you have to at least go halfway into NG++. In DS1 I think you needed all weapons, but to get every single one you had to kill a certain boss 3 times to use his soul for 3 different weapons.

And yes, leaving a guy in game 1 is a smart thing to do.
Unless they decide to do a Bloodborne DLC deal again where you have to do something in the middle of the game…

My fault, 11 must be the default. I have not put a single point into Luck, unless I’m completely forgetting why I would’ve done so.

I have not tried to build up Item Discovery or anything like that, and now that I can use my weapon and all my Havel set at once without fatrolling I will be pumping all points into Vigor, STR, DEX, and Faith, with the occasional Attunement point.

Could be an accidental point, faith is close.

Nope, the herald starts with 11. I checked. I didn’t think any class started with such high luck. The knight & sorcerer start only with an amazing 7. (thief a whooping 14)

Wait, what do I have to do to access Bloodborne DLC? Im half way through the game, I dont want to have to start over to do Old Hunter’s.

I just made that mistake in Lords of the Fallen. I got to the end and I couldn’t get out of the Citadel to finish up my side quests and I kept putting off the DLC with the Rune Smith dude. Now Im in NG+ and have to start all those quests over… the game is much easier now but still I wanted to finish it all up and kind of got trapped into the end.

Since you’re so much further than I am, care to share your opinion of my build/gear? I’m wondering how I’ve been doing on a general scale, though I believe this is working very well for how I want to play.

Is my sword pretty solid? I haven’t Imbued it, and I’m holding off on doing so because all Imbue types are showing greatly reduced damage.

I keep my fire and lightning blades as backups because the lightning damage on my previous sword is higher, and I have the ice straight sword, a poison greatsword, and a dark longsword on hand all the time.

Defeat Vicar Amelia and activate the skull in the Cathedral to turn day into night.
Go to the Hunter’s Dream and receive Eye of a Blood-Drunk Hunter from a messenger.
Go to the Cathedral Ward and leave via the left-hand exit to enter the square.
Go to the right-hand end of the square (where the Hunter Set/Top Hat are located) and the Lesser Amygdala will grab you. This will take you to the new area: The Hunter’s Nightmare
Lighting the lamp in the new area will allow you to travel to and from the area via the Hunter’s Nightmare Awakening Headstone in the Hunter’s Dream . It can be found by the Insight Shop, where the Doll will sometimes kneel and pray.
(I copypasted this from a wiki)

So basically if you defeated Amelia before you won’t get the eye of a blood-drunk hunter.

Yeah…Amelia is DEAD! LOL… I know the area you speak of the big monster that grabs you. You can see him if you have 40 insight.

Well that is kind of lame… if you bought the DLC how are you supposed to know NOT to kill a BOSS in order to move to the Nightmare?

But your post is confusing me..“Keep Vicar alive” Then its says Defeat VIcar activate skull."
Receive from messenger? What messenger? the little guys on the stair way?

Your sword have a very low str & dex scaling, but at least it scales with both. I’m not that into greatswords myself as I feel they are slow & sluggish so I haven’t really bothered looking up stats or how these weapons scale.
But would you not be better off pumping some more into strength over dex and maybe find a better scaling str-greatsword? Maybe that’s why you never get in any hits on the bosses because of how slow your weapon hit?

I went in to check on my knight who has a darksword +10. I doesn’t scale good either. C in str & D in dex.
But my physical dmg was 230+154. My strength is at 40.

Having a fire & lightningsword lying in your stash is good as many bosses are weak to it. But poison & ice are not that useful. IIRC there’s only one boss that are weak to ice and it’s not that hard to beat. If i’m not mistaken I think it’s the dragonslayer armour.

How many points do you plan on putting in faith & why do you want it higher than 30? lightning blade requires only 30. (and if you use that miracle your lightningsword no longer have any use)

Maybe put more points in endurance? I have 32 points there. The more you have the more effective you can block, hit & roll.
Is your movement hindered anything? As you are both using a shield, heavy sword and the heaviest armor in the game. (unless catarina is heavier)

My stats for my lvl 99 str-meleeguy
Vigor 30
Attunement 10
Endurance 28
Vitality 40
Strength 40
Dexterity 15
Intelligence 9
Faith 9
Luck 7
I didn’t have many problems with any bosses in the game.
After i’m done with NG++ with my sorceress I will start a dex/faith character and try that out.

Which ending did you get btw? The secret one I hope? If you care about how you look I suggest removing the dark sigil sooner rather than later so you don’t have to spend a million souls only for that like I did ^^

You don’t. That’s why almost everyone had to start out fresh ^^ And that new area is very late game anyway. If you enter it by the time you are able to…“you will be sucked”.

Just follow what I copypasted. That was just me personally remembering it wrong that she had to be alive  I was somewhat correct though!

I have a couple heavier weapons which need higher STR/DEX than I have, and like I said, I’m already planning to put more points into both of them. I don’t have a problem hitting things except for in cases like I listed where the boss hits in extremely large areas and quickly or at odd intervals, meaning I have to keep dodging instead of attacking. It isn’t a situation where I’m directly missing or being knocked out of my attacks.

I’m not as concerned about stacking as much physical damage as possible, the overall damage of this weapon adds up to more than 520 and I typically deal enough poise damage to get multiple hits in; spreading the damage over lightning, physical, and magical at the same time means that when I face a PVP player, I’m likely to get more damage through than if I was to simply focus on physical damage.

I carry my backup swords on me at all times, though not in my equipped slots. The poison and ice swords are also for PVP more than they are for PVE, although hitting an enemy a few times in a short period with the ice blade adds a chunk of extra damage and stuns them briefly; useful even against bosses. I may do some PVP invading or duels with this guy while waiting for the DLC.

There are a couple of miracles that require more Faith than I have, and I want to have the ability to use any miracle I want. Faith also increases the damage my lightning imbued sword does, which is handy.

I do want to put more points there, too. It would be nice to have more Stamina than I do, but my Vitality is so high that with my set of rings and the full Havel armor set I can run, jump, and roll without penalty.

I must not have received that message becasue I do not have the DLC installed? Or maybe I received it and do not remember? Ill check when I get home.

Shadow of Yharnim tonight!!! Only 1 item I couldnt find int eh Forbidden woods…the Blood Chunk. I got everything esle…even found more Runes than what Prima has listed in there guide. Im so sick of Snake monsters Ill be glad when Im out of this area!

Ofc you need to have the dlc installed

Bah, stick to fanmade wikis instead of primaguides made by people in a hurry.

Ah, I can see it being useful there yes. I only play offline so I don’t plan for invaders. I did play online for my last achievements in DS2 and boy was I annoyed when people I didn’t want to meet invaded me all of a sudden & got rid of all my souls -_-

About ice weapons. Did you ever stop to think why we can’t infuse weapon with frostdmg? Why there’s only 2 weapons with it? Sniff sniff dlc.

When you have 45 faith you can use all miracles. (When you have 50 intelligence you can use all spells.)
There’s 1 heal + 1 lightningmiracle that require 45. (both require soultransposition)

Another thing worth mentioning. NG+ isn’t as hard as you first might think

Yeah I look at the Wiki when I want to know how something works or read details about specific items, places or events. But the guide is more helpful in a location of said item sense.

I like to read the guide at work, then go home and play based off of what I can remember so I dont have it open and going step by step with the guide… that can be boring.

But I dont have the time to go the entire game guide free…that would take for ever and I have to be smart about my time.

FYI I had my STAFF in my right hand 3rd spot the whole time! lol Your right, left hand makes more sense!

But you can use the sword in your left as well, just have the staff ready in the other hand.
It’s kind of cool, in DS2 there’s a weaponset that consist of 2 shields. One in each hand.
