I’m pretty sure the magic “weapon buff” spells specifically state that their magic affects the weapon currently held in the RIGHT hand at the time of casting, though.
I didnt have the staff equipped at all. I had the chime in my left hand thinking that would activate the spell that was attuned to the slot, just like the Healing miracle. But it wouldnt work. Im curious if the staff will even make it work.
How are you even supposed to figure this stuff out? Just trial and error everything until it works?
I accidentally used my Soul of Borreal valley trying that parry/empty bottle technique… ughhh
Yep. It says the right weapon indeed.
Kind of a shame that you can’t fully go Link-style though.
I run around with 4 ‘weapons’. In my right, a sword & pyromancy flame. Because of this I can’t use my pyromancy flame skill but it’s useless anyhoo. In my left a shield, chime/talisman & the staff.
So if I want to use the pyromancy spellbuff I have to move around in my inventory.
Yes. A lot of the charm from the DS games the first time you play is that you have absolutely no idea what you are doing
The first time I beat DS1 I ended up using the drakesword 50% of the game(read a faq on where to find this) and then finished the game with a lightning spear found in sens fortress. Unless you read up or finish the game the hard way you never learn really. The DS games are like a little universe of their own.
But if you read the description on stuff it usually gives away useful information.
Staves(& some weapons) work as a catalyst for spells
Chimes/talismans are for miracles.
Pyromancy hand are for pyromancyspells. Pyromancy is a little easier to use than miracles/spells are as it only has 1 ‘weapon’.
You used your soul you got from Vordt? Why even equip it? ![]()
And what is the parry/empty bottle technique?
Found nothing when I google.
I love the archdeacon set ![]()
This game is a horrorgame.
I was speaking to Yorshka while handing in ears to her. Upon ranking up she had new dialogue so I was excited to hear the new things she has to say. Then all of sudden she says the words she usually say when you choose to say goodbye.
I wondered what was wrong as I didn’t click anything. After this my character loudly screams and dies and I jump because of it.
…Turns out I forgot I was wearing the avarice symbol >_>
I’m done. Ended at lvl 230 with half a million souls left to enter 231. And it seems I am having myself a monologue over here anyway so i’m going to end with a tips!
If you transpose both swords from the princes you can transpose it again to create a new sword.
Interesting; I can’t think of any other instance of this in any of the Dark Souls games!
Does it require a third playthrough and another soul, or simply that you have both blades?
Is it awesome?
I don’t know if it requires 2 or 3 playthroughs. I think 2 because a new option to transpose these weapons comes up from Ludleth.
I never transposed it any further.
I read on a gamefaqspost from someone claiming it isn’t necessarily better than the others, but it had a useful pvp skill.
If i’m not mistaken it turns into a sword inbetween straight sword(lothric) and ultra greatsword or whatever Loriens weapon is into a ‘regular’ greatsword.
How did you beat Yhorm your first time?
Also, another fun fact you might have missed. You know Aldrich? The guy you hit during that fight isn’t quite Aldrich. There’s a description on one of the items telling that Aldrich consumed Dark Sun Gwyndolin, a boss back in Dark Souls 1. It is the body of Gwyndolin you hit. Aldrich is just the slime basically ^^
I’m done. Again. My playthrough of a dexbased character is done. I went with dual swords basically through the whole game. It was really fun, using a shield make the game a whole lot … more bearable.
To finish up. I’m posting this picture as an homage to Konamis E3 press conference with the deathstare.
Finished this the other day. It was really good! Probably the most consistently well-designed campaign of the Dark Souls games in my opinion, aside from a couple lame gimmick bosses per usual of the series (lookin’ at you,
Yhorm
). The best final boss too, although I still thought it was a bit on the easy side.
This ‘Nameless King’ is ■■■■■■■ me off haha. Spent all day on him Saturday, to no avail. I have no problem with the first phase, but I’m not even getting close on Phase 2.
If I were to go fight the last boss instead, would I get another chance to come back and challenge the Nameless King, or does killing the last boss automatically initiate the credits and NG+?
Once you take down the final boss and roll the credits (those are automatic) the game will ask you if you want to start Journey 2 (NG+) and you can say no. You’ll stay in the first playthrough with everything as it is, which is what I’m currently doing.
Good to know. Thanks.
I made it a bit farther last night. I beat the Crystal Sage 3rd try. He wasnt too bad once I figured out how to stay on him. It definitely went down to the last hit for both of us…it was a close one!
So the night before I was really frustrated that I got invaded twice in the same spot while trying to fight NPC Yellow finger. Both times an invader stabbed be in the back while i was fighting the NPC. Which I feel is really cheap and makes me not want to play online. SO anyway my friend that runs the FB page had me summon him to help…now whats cool is he is in Australia. He was trying to confirm if Xbox could cross platform with PS4… I believe ti worked because he was there and we went and kicked some asss.
So then I summoned another person I didnt know and we had fun! I never felt like I could trust the people you can summon…I guess I was wrong. I think I may do that more often if I get in a jam.
Had you bought the game on Xbox I could’ve helped you at any point in time!
Too bad you didn’t want to play together! ![]()
I know bro…I feel bad to be honest. I made a bad decision…Im sorry. I even thought about trading my PS4 version and getting the Xbox and starting over just so we could play. I learned my lesson thats for sure!
I just never thought I would enjoy co-op nor do I feel like i can trust the strangers.
For clarification, you cannot be hurt by friendly phantoms (ones you physically summon from Gold or White signs, or Blue Sentinel automatic-summons) and it’s counter-productive for them to try to lead you into a trap or fail to assist/protect you because they earn souls in your game and become embered if they help you defeat a boss.
Summoning from a purple or red sign brings in a hostile player to attack you, and I don’t recommend it unless you’re specifically looking for PVP duels. There are also certain blue-and-red invaders who may randomly end up in your game whose goal is to kill you, but you have no control over whether they come in if you are in one of the areas they protect.
these are the guys that keep invading when Im trying to fight Yellow finger… I just want to fight Yellow finger…be done with that NPC line and then you can invade all you want! lol… just let me fight one on one.
Your best bet is to join the Farron covenant, then, because those invaders are members and that area is under the covenant’s protection. If you are part of the covenant I believe you cannot be invaded by fellow members.
